Story
Blue/Purple—8+ Kid by Kid, Dog by DogOnyx is a really nice boy, but he lacks impulse control and jumps up. He will need some work on his manners, but he doesn`t lack enthusiasm. He did live with small children but until he calms down he would definitely knock them over. He will also play with his mouth open and catch you with a tooth. There isn`t an ounce of aggression just overzealous playfulness; he absolutely loves a good game of fetch and then settles down for some chest and ear scratches. For more resources to help with at any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDTBureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617

Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Blue—12+ Kid by Kid, Dog by DogMonkey is a charming boy with a lot of excitable energy. When he exits his kennel, he is eager to break free and enthusiastic about the leash. While he walks well, it seems he hasn`t had much experience or consistent time on a leash, which makes him unsure about how to walk while tethered. He does not do well when tethered to a wall; he tries to escape and continues to pull to relieve the pressure from his collar. We had to stay with him when we tethered him to the wall.In terms of handling, Monkey does not mind being touched, but it tends to make him more excitable. He responds well to being handled, such as being touched on his underbelly, paws, ears, or mouth. He understands basic cues like `sit,` `wait,` and `come.` When it comes to toys, he enjoys all of them, but he especially favors balls. Due to his over-arousal, he may nibble on your fingers if you try to take a ball from him, so it`s better to have two tennis balls to facilitate trading for other toys like plush or squeaky ones. He does not mind when you take these toys from him, nor does he attempt to mouth you during that process.Monkey’s play style with people is quite unruly; he likes to jump up and place his paws on you. Although his paw pressure is light and he does not body slam, he is very excitable and wants to use his paws during play. His interactions with other dogs went well; he was very stimulated and over-aroused when he approached another dog, leading him to whine and vocalize his frustration as he wanted to get to the other dog quickly. However, once he was able to approach appropriately, he displayed good behavior by sniffing, investigating, and offering to play without any issues while coexisting in the same room.Monkey`s initial interaction with strangers can be inappropriate; he tends to jump right for a stranger`s face, especially with a male stranger. Once we redirected him to keep his feet on the ground, he did well, accepting pets and initiating play without showing any signs of stress when being petted. Regarding resource guarding, I see no signs of stress when food is removed and later returned.I recommend that Monkey be placed in a home with older children until he learns basic manners and improves impulse control. For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Yellow—12+ Kids, Dog by Dog**Due to Chloe needing spayed, her adoption will not be finalized until on or after: 1/11/25Chloe is a sweet girl who gets excited in her kennel and shows some barrier frustration when dogs pass by. She waits patiently to have the leash attached but is a bit startled by its pressure at first. Interacting with people, she displays gentle behavior, lightly jumping with her front paws and leaning in for pets. She`s sensitive on her hindquarters and will lick your hand to ask for a pause in petting. While curious about her surroundings, she can be easily redirected. Chloe is more interested in her environment than toys, though she played briefly with a squeaker toy and a tennis ball. She knows basic behavior cues like sit and come and has a few counter-surfing tendencies that can be managed with training. She startled at some everyday objects but recovered quickly and showed no resource guarding over her food. Chloe met a stranger appropriately, greeted a neutered male dog well, and even tried to engage him in play. For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617**Due to Jim Jam needing neutered, his adoption will not be finalized until on or after: 1/27/25Behavior Profile Color(s): YellowYellow—May be more shy or skittish/does better in calmer environments.Could he do well with kids? Yes, with kids 8 years and older, on a kid-by-kid basis.Could he do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Jim Jam is a very sweet boy. He can be a little standoffish at first, needing about 30 to 45 seconds to warm up to a person, but then he opens up. He was easy to get out of his kennel, but he seemed to avoid going back in. During cooperative care handling, he became a bit excited and his arousal built. Jim Jam has a nice play style with humans; he enjoys jumping softly and loves squeaky and plush toys. He appears to understand how to play tug-of-war and interacts nicely with both people and toys. I observed no guarding behavior over toys. However, when it came to food, he froze and looked at me with a confused expression, as if to ask why I was touching his bowl. Despite this, he showed no other stress signals when food was present. With everyday objects, he would startle slightly but recovered quickly upon investigation. Overall, Jim Jam is a pretty good dog. He loves to sniff and explore his environment and enjoys interacting with people. He likes to receive body rubs and jumps gently.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
Meet Eve Eve is an estimated 3 year old, German Shepherd/Husky mix who has eyes that tell a story of resilience and hope. Her journey through life has been anything but smooth, filled with the heartbreak of being abandoned and on the run for weeks. What Eve is really seeking now is a loving home with someone who understands her breed and has experience with dogs. She has a moderate energy level, is good on a leash and working on mastering all of her basic commands. Eve does however have some quirks that staff are working on with her that potential adopters should be aware of, as she can become mouthy in situations she’s unsure of. She doesn`t ask for much - just understanding and compassion from her future family. An adult-only home is preferred, and experienced adopters who can provide the guidance and care she needs would be the perfect match. Eve is spayed, microchipped & up to date on all her vaccinations. She is also seems to do well with other dogs and is open to meeting them (a meet and greet would be required at our shelter for any potential canine siblings). With the right person or family, Eve has the potential to become a loyal and loving companion, ready to embark on a new and more stable chapter of her life. If you think you could provide her with that: please go to our website: www.nokillarc.org to fill out a pre-approval form (it can be found under the ‘adoptable dogs’ section).

Story
Kiwi is a 2yr old spayed female that weighs 37 lbs. Kiwi was a field stray who can be kennel reactive when in a new situation.  Has gotten better over time with the dogs in the area.  She can sit, but need some leash work as can pull when first gets out, then calms down.  Has been good with dogs she has been introduced to, but we recommend slow intros to any new dogs.  She has not been around children since with us, so we have to test her yet with kids. She has been good with all adults. If you are interested in meeting or adopting Kiwi please text Casey at 570-441-0083. We adopt to the general public but we also adopt to military veterans with adoption fee waived in order to provide our heroes with companion or emotional support dogs . Bella is a 5 year old spayed female that weighs 54 lbs. We believe she is a German Shepherd/Australian cattle dog based on her appearance and behavior. She is updated on all vaccines. She is microchipped. Housetrained. She is not ok with cats, but she is a nipper with kids and some adults, often a cattle dog behavior. Owner let her get overweight, so we are feeding her less.  If you are interested in meeting or adopting Bella please text Casey at 570-441-0083. Story
Archie is a 3 year old neutered male dog that weighs approximately 80lbs. We have DNA results for Archie! He is 50% German Shepherd, 30% American Bully and 13 % American Pit Bull Terrier and 7% American Bulldog! He came from California rescue. We were asked to help find him a home ! He was originally adopted as a puppy by a couple there. After having a baby for 6 months they returned him because they didn't want a big dog around the baby, even though he was fine with the baby! They returned him to the Rescue that adopted out originally. He was returned to the rescue when he was 3 years old. So we were asked to find him a good home. He has been in doggie day care with multiple dogs, but at our rescue he has not been dog friendly here. Hi energy. Good with cats and kids! Housetrained! Rides calmly in a car. Likes to play with toys! We tested him for heartworm and Tick borne diseases! All negative! He is microchipped! Bigger sized kids in a home would probably be best because of his size. Only bad issue is he is protective of his food bowl! Whether full or empty! If you are interested in meeting or adopting Archie please text Casey at 570-441-0083. We adopt to the general public but we also adopt to military veterans with adoption fee waived in order to provide our heroes with companion or emotional support dogs . Story
Carson is a 50 lb German Shepherd/Lab mix likely that will be neutered soon by us. He is 18 months old. He is very dog friendly and cat friendly. He was in jeopardy in a kill shelter in SC due to lack of space. So we pulled him and had him transported to our rescue. He is a very sweet boy! We tested him at our rescue and he is heartworm and Lyme negative! Fully vaccinated except for Lyme vaccine which is an option here. We don't have any idea if he is housetrained because he hasn't been anywhere except our shelter and previous shelter as a lost dog. He definitely deserves a loving home!!
