Story
Neeko is a sweet guy that arrived at the shelter as a stray, and no one came forward to claim him. Neeko is around 9-10 months old and weighs around 68 pounds. Experience with the German shepherd breed is a plus for potential adopters. Neeko seems to do ok with dogs that are his size or larger, but not with smaller dogs. A dog introduction is required with any dogs that reside in the home. Neeko may be too much for small children that are not used to large active dogs. Neeko loves attention and is a very loyal boy. He would love to find his loving forever home soon! He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/Lyme tested, and microchipped since his arrival at the shelter. Story
Sebastin is a reserved guy. He will need an adopter that has shepherd experience. He is around 2-3 years old and weighs 80 pounds. He does have a high chase drive so a home without cats would be best. Sebastin also does not care for other dogs. So being the only animal in the home would be best for him. Due to his size and no past history an age restriction for children in the home may apply, please discuss this with shelter staff. Sebastin does need time to trust you but once you are his friend, you have a very loyal guy! He may take several visits with his potential adopters to establish a bond before going home with them. He loves going for walks and loves going to the play yard to enjoy the sunshine! Sebastin is always watching what is going on around him. He would love to find his loving forever home soon! He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/lyme tested, and microchipped since his arrival at the shelter.Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter 5051 Letterkenny Road WestChambersburg, PA 17201Kennel License #2090

Story
We currently have 2; 3-month-old, female, German Shepherd Mix puppies ready to go! They are not bonded and do not need to go together. They will be a part of our Foster to Adopt program where puppies are fostered in their future forever homes until they are able to be spayed or neutered, then the adoption takes place after they are altered. This allows the puppy to be in a home environment and work on training instead of being stuck at the shelter until they are old enough to be altered. These girls are estimated to be on the larger side when fully grown. To be a part of the Foster to Adopt program you MUST reside in Pennsylvania (this is due to being under our kennel license, so no exceptions to this rule), be within an hour drive of the shelter, fill out an application to be an approved adopter and understand that they will need trips back to the shelter for vetting. Story
Luna Mia has a sad story. She was first rescued as a puppy from a farm where she was living by herself in a chicken coop. The farmer planned on breeding her once she was old enough. She was frightened and not socialized. She came to this rescue very nervous and frightened of everything. She learned to trust people here, and was adopted by wonderful people who named her Mia. Sadly after several months her owner passed away unexpectedly, Mia was with her when that happened. She was traumatized and confused. The owner's husband could not keep her and returned her to the rescue. Luna-Mia got re-aquainted with the kennel and the caretakers/volunteers here. She is happy here but would love her own home again. Luna-Mia is housebroken, well mannered, and a wonderful dog once she learns to trust a new person. Until she does trust someone new, she shows "fear aggression" though she has become better about getting to know new people, and sometimes she warms up to a new person very quickly. Luna-Mia is looking for that perfect home for her. She should have a secure fenced yard for safety since she is a fearful dog. No children. and she would prefer to be the only pet. Luna-Mia will make someone very happy, she is a wonderful dog for someone who can give her a little time to adjust to her new home.

Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Ruger was rescued from a shelter - He is a handsome purebred German Shepherd who appears to be from working lines. He is @ 4 years old, neutered male. Ruger came into the rescue very fearful and he is still nervous with strangers approaching him - however once he warms up to someone he is very good natured. He is very well mannered on his walks, and does very well ignoring strangers and other dogs. In general he will prefer to be the only pet, but he does go out in the yard with other large dogs (females) who are dog friendly and he does very well. Ruger is not good with cats or small animals, or livestock. Due to his temperament and size, children in the home should be over 12. Ruger loves long walks, playing ball and car rides. Ruger will be a wonderful active companion for the right person who has experience with German Shepherds.
