Story
This is Pintas, we were asked to help this girl. The finder had been feeding her for a while trying to get her help and off the mean streets of RGV (Rio Grande Valley) where very bad things happen to animals all the time. She didn't have any luck and one day about 2 mos ago the finder went outside to feed Pintas and found that she couldn't walk or stand up. Pintas was hit by a car and left on the side of the road like trash in severe pain and to die alone. Pintas finder rushed her to the vet where we then learned that pintas had a fractured pelvis. We also learned at that time that Pintas was heartworm positive. She had to wait until she healed to be spayed. She will be scheduled in the coming week. Once she heals from spay surgery she will then start heartworm treatment. Puntas has made such stride and progress when the vets didn't have much hope for a 100% recovery. Pintas now can run, jump and play. Something the vet didn't expect to happen. They said that she would need surgery but Pintas proved them all wrong. She will be available for adoption once she finishes her heartworm treatment. Story
Please everyone meet Tucker. He is one of the gsd mix puppies that was dumped on the side of the road with their mom in RGV. The foster drove hours away to save them from the cruel streets. They were severely under weight when they entered care. Mom and her babies have been with their foster since day one and are finally healthy enough to leave for their forever homes. Tucker is current on vaccines and flea and tick meds, he will be neutered prior to adoption. Tucker is located in Texas but transport is available for an approved adopter. Story
Hi! I'm Freya, a special needs gal who is still looking for my forever home! I will be a year old on 12/7 & I'm all that & a bag of Pup-Peroni!!! My foster mom says I'm very smart & learn fast. I know sit, down & come commands & working on place & leave it commands. I walk pretty good on a leash but still need some work. I'm a little shy when first meeting people but once I warm up to you I'm a HUGE love bug!!! I need to be introduced to other dogs slowly & over a few visits. I have 2 German Shepherd brothers that I live with & just love them but it took me around 5 visits to decide I liked them. I had my surgery 10/12 for my birth defect, ectopic ureters. I still have urine leaks but it's better than before the surgery & might stop but I'm still in the healing process. If you would like to meet me let my friends at CW know so we can arrange a meeting.

Story
Laney was adopted as a young puppy and has since come back to Char-Wills through no fault of her own. She is still a silly puppy. She seems to be potty trained, was happy to ride in a crate in the car, and knows to sit. She enjoys playing with a squeaky ball as well. In her previous home, she lived with children.

Story
Hello from the foster mom, It's been over 2 months since we got Kalis. She is improving and starting to relax. We are working on house training (she likes to be outside so there haven't been many accidents) and some leash training. She is very food oriented. Her favorite toys are puzzle ones to get the food out. She is energetic but also like to lay outside or on the couch with us. She loves walks, sometimes car rides, and playing with her ball or toy in the yard. Our house is a little hectic, so I think Kalis has yet to relax completely. We feel that a calmer environment would be better for her. Too much noise and activity, like people coming and going, seems to set off the shadow chasing. Kalis is a good dog and given the right circumstances, will be able to be her true, sweet self.

Story
I'm back from jail and ready to go as of 12/23/24! While at the Prison Program I received basic leash, crate, obedience training, and house breaking. Like my friend, Odie, I do very well in my crate and going potty outside where it belongs. I do pull a little while on leash, so i guess I still need a little more "getting used to". My people leave the leash drag in the yard, too (probably because I'm very skittish and my people need to be able to get me somehow). Everyone says I'm a very sweet and loving doggy, but I'm still extremely shy when it comes to meeting new people. It takes me a lot of time to get used to someone new, but when I get familiar things get easier for me. Loud sounds and sudden movements make me very nervous. Even large crowds intimidate me! My handlers feel like a quiet home with a lot of time and patience would be good for me. Oh, and having another doggy playmate, too! I'm not perfect, but I'm willing to learn how to be a real dog. I need more socialization with people and other dogs (mainly people though), help with my basic commands, and leash training. And it would be great if I could stay with my friend, Odie! I'm not sure how well I would do without him. I'd love to meet new people if it means finding a great home. Can you help me?
