Diamond is an eight year old Shepherd mix who was adopted from Pet Friends in 2017, but returned to us recently when her family was no longer able to take care of her. While she may considered a "senior dog based on her age, she looks and acts much younger. She enjoys playing fetch and going for walks but those walks don't need to be for miles and miles and the fetch sessions don't need to be hours long. After some exercise, Diamond will be happy to sit with you and get a good scratching. When she was returned, we weren't told much about her other than she is dog reactive, so would need to be in a house with no other dogs. Now that our volunteers have spent some time with Diamond, we have learned that she knows some basic commands, walks ok on a leash but will pull hard, especially at the beginning of the walk, and really enjoys being with people. Diamond is a perfect name for her, because she is a gem and is going to make someone a wonderful companion, particularly if they want a dog that has grown out of its puppy stage, yet still is full of life.

Meet Luffy, or affectionally known as Elliott. This guy was adopted when he was 10 weeks old and now he is a little over a year (14 months). He is a very active and energetic pup still but what the family has come to realize is, he does not enjoy living in a home full of kids or one with kids actively coming and going out of the home. He prefers to be in an adult only home with limited or no exposure to children. Their sudden and quick movements just don't seem to 'sit' well with Elliott. He does well with the resident dog of the home so one can assume he is dog friendly (a meet and greet would be required). We would like to assure Elliott's success with an adult only home. adoption donation : $499 weight 70 lbs Age: 5 years (DOB 12/9/2019) Mellie is a purebred AKC registered Belgian Malinois and an awesome dog, she bonds strongly to her people, is affectionate and loving, and as long as she gets the exercise she needs she is extremely chill in the house and just an easy dog who will make a great companion. Mellie does need a good amount of exercise, she walks well on a leash and will absolutely adore anyone who will throw a ball for her, she can play fetch for hours! Mellie gets along with other dogs but can be dominant so she needs an owner who will respect her breed and understand that she needs a careful introduction to new dogs. Mellie is currently in a foster home with a man who is actually a dog trainer and she is learning basic commands, she can sit and stay, lay down and heal. The family recently took in to German Shepherds, a male and a female and Mellie is doing fine with them. Mellie sleeps in a crate at night. Mellie was originally bought from a breeder by a family who recently had young children and no longer had time for Mellie. The dog trainer offered to take Mellie and help find her an home. Mellie has had her vaccinations but is not yet spayed. Wags will take care of her spay before an adoption or reimburse the cost at one of the clinics the rescue uses if she is adopted before her spay. Mellie is a great dog who ideally would be best in a home with someone who knows the breed and can give her the structure and exercise she needs. Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs. Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use.
