Story
Our longest resident of over a year and we have no idea why! Toby is looking for his forever home. This handsome 5-year-old 52 pound Shepherd mix has captured our hearts with his enchanting personality and infectious energy. Toby has been professionally trained by Gypsy K9 Solutions and his off-leash recall is top-notch. He loves nothing more than exploring the great outdoors on hikes and playing endless rounds of fetch. His radar-like ears are always on high alert, taking in all the sights, smells, and sounds of the world around him. He's truly a great adventure dog and the perfect companion for any outdoor enthusiast. Toby is affectionate with his people, but not overly so. His intelligence adds to his charm – he's always eager to learn and please his human friends. He would thrive in an active family with children over the toddler age who can respect his boundaries. Although cats are an unknown territory for Toby, he gets along with other dogs who are fairly chill and goofy. Our Toby has impeccable manners and is house and crate trained. But he's also earned the privilege of being trusted outside of his crate – a testament to his good behavior. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, as well as a heartworm survivor! This boy has been fully treated for some time and now tests negative. Toby has been waiting patiently for his forever home, and we know that the perfect family is out there just waiting to meet him. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this loving, adventurous pup? Apply today and you can meet Toby in Gettysburg, PA where he will proudly show you all of his training he has mastered! New Oxford PA 17350; LIC #9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. Story
Meet Leon, your new best friend, a 3-year-old German Sheperd Husky mix with eyes that will melt your heart and a goofy nature that will make you fall in love from the first kiss! He definitely likes attention and will let you know if he is feeling ignored. He will be vocal if he needs to go out, is hungry, or just wants you to pet him or give him a belly rub. He likes car rides and walks but can pull hard on the leash especially until he gets out some of his energy. He does have experience with kids and living with another dog, but he would do best in a home without young kids and other pets. He is a huge love bug and doesnt realize his size. He can be protective of his family in the home, but when he is out, he is very good at meeting strangers and wants to give lots of kisses. He is crate and house trained. He has also been trained to stay off the furniture and out of bedrooms. He knows some commands including sit, lay down, come, no, and stop. Leon is microchipped and up to date on all shots. All that's lacking is a dose of love from you to fill the empty space in his heart! No dog loves like a rescue dog and words are not adequate enough to describe that feeling! It is pure joy that you have to experience for yourself to be able to understand it! So, what are you waiting for? Allow Leon to fill that void in your life that you may not know you have! Please complete an application on our website if you would like to meet Leon: www.crcpa.org

Story
Sebastin is a reserved guy. He will need an adopter that has shepherd experience. He is around 2-3 years old and weighs 80 pounds. He does have a high chase drive so a home without cats would be best. Sebastin also does not care for other dogs. So being the only animal in the home would be best for him. Due to his size and no past history an age restriction for children in the home may apply, please discuss this with shelter staff. Sebastin does need time to trust you but once you are his friend, you have a very loyal guy! He may take several visits with his potential adopters to establish a bond before going home with them. He loves going for walks and loves going to the play yard to enjoy the sunshine! Sebastin is always watching what is going on around him. He would love to find his loving forever home soon! He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm/lyme tested, and microchipped since his arrival at the shelter.Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter 5051 Letterkenny Road WestChambersburg, PA 17201Kennel License #2090

Story
We currently have 2; 3-month-old, female, German Shepherd Mix puppies ready to go! They are not bonded and do not need to go together. They will be a part of our Foster to Adopt program where puppies are fostered in their future forever homes until they are able to be spayed or neutered, then the adoption takes place after they are altered. This allows the puppy to be in a home environment and work on training instead of being stuck at the shelter until they are old enough to be altered. These girls are estimated to be on the larger side when fully grown. To be a part of the Foster to Adopt program you MUST reside in Pennsylvania (this is due to being under our kennel license, so no exceptions to this rule), be within an hour drive of the shelter, fill out an application to be an approved adopter and understand that they will need trips back to the shelter for vetting. Story
Luna Mia has a sad story. She was first rescued as a puppy from a farm where she was living by herself in a chicken coop. The farmer planned on breeding her once she was old enough. She was frightened and not socialized. She came to this rescue very nervous and frightened of everything. She learned to trust people here, and was adopted by wonderful people who named her Mia. Sadly after a couple of years her owner passed away unexpectedly, Mia was with her when that happened. She was traumatized and confused. The owner's husband could not keep her and returned her to the rescue. Luna-Mia got re-aquainted with the kennel and the caretakers/volunteers here. She is happy here but would love her own home again. Luna-Mia is housebroken, well mannered, and a wonderful dog once she learns to trust a new person. Until she does trust someone new, she shows "fear aggression" though she has become better about getting to know new people, and sometimes she warms up to a new person very quickly. Luna-Mia is looking for that perfect home for her. She should have a secure fenced yard for safety since she is a fearful dog. No children. and she would prefer to be the only pet. Luna-Mia will make someone very happy, she is a wonderful dog for someone who can give her a little time to adjust to her new home. She will be a wonderful companion, she loves to go on long walks, hang out quietly, and go on car rides!

Story
Ruger was rescued from a shelter - He is a handsome purebred German Shepherd who appears to be from working lines. He is @ 5 years old, neutered male. Ruger came into the rescue very fearful and he is still nervous with strangers approaching him - however once he warms up to someone he is very good natured. He is very well mannered on his walks, and does very well ignoring strangers and other dogs. In general he will prefer to be the only pet, but he does go out in the yard with other large dogs (females) who are dog friendly and he does very well. Ruger is not good with cats or small animals, or livestock. Due to his temperament and size, children in the home should be over 12. Ruger loves long walks, playing ball and car rides. Ruger will be a wonderful active companion for the right person who has experience with German Shepherds.
