In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 Still available! 11/23/24Cobalt - have you ever seen a more handsome boy? I can't think of one! This big boy was a sad sight when he was found in a ditch, starved almost to death. Thankfully he was found before it was too late. After many weeks of slow re-feeding, he finally started to put on some weight and is now a healthy, happy boy! This guy has one thing on his mind - LOVE! He absolutely adores his (foster) people, because they show him love and kindness, and that's all it takes for him to love you. Cobalt is currently fostered in a home with many other dogs of all sizes and genders, and he does well with all of them. He would also do well as an only dog if that were the case - he would be happy with or without another dog in the home. He is much more focused on the humans. He gets along with the other dogs but doesn't really bond with them or play with them. His one and only focus is to soak up as much love as he can each day. He must have really been deprived of affection before he was rescued, and he's trying to make up for lost time now. Cobalt is a big guy at about 75 lbs. We believe he is about 4 years old. He is not destructive and doesn't require a ton of exercise. A few leash walks each day would be fine with him. Of course, if his person wants to play, he's game for that, too, if it makes you happy! He is house trained and doesn't necessarily require a crate but will use one if needed. He is crated some of the time in his foster home (when foster mom and dad are at work) and he is perfectly content with that. He is a very good boy and really deserves to have a forever family that can give him a lot of individual attention. Cobalt was already neutered and microchipped when he came into rescue, but his previous owner never registered the chip, so it could not be traced. Sadly, he tested positive for heartworms and is undergoing treatment now. Once his treatment is completed (about 6 weeks) he will be ready to meet his new family! Cobalt is wonderful with kids and would be a protective, doting big brother. Don't miss out on all the love this big guy has to offer you! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 Louise is now safe! She was previously living on the streets in a very unsafe area. Thankfully a foster stepped up for her and she is safe and available for adoption. Her story- Louise showed up as a dumped dog in a very bad part of town, where there are many known dog fighters who are just waiting to get dogs like her to train their fighting dogs. Louise had a mama and brother at the time she showed up, but they have both disappeared in the last few months. Louise was very fearful at first but has learned to trust a good samaritan who did her best to provide food and shelter for her, and kept her safe. Since learning to trust her, Louise has decided that all people are good. This is both good and bad. It is good in that she feels secure and safe and that makes her easier to find a home for, because she will carry those feelings with her. It is bad in that she can't differentiate between the safe people and the ones who mean her harm. And there are those in her immediate neighborhood. Thankfully a foster stepped up and we were able to get her to safety before anything bad happened. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Louise adores children and is great with other dogs. She is very submissive.  Louise is a young lady, about a year old, and weighs 60lbs.  In the northeast.  To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 Message or email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Athena is a survivor. She was an owned dog, and her mom really loved her. However, the home was not a happy one for mom, because she was suffering through domestic violence. Things escalates, and Athena's mom had to take her kids and get out quickly. Unfortunately, the place she was going to did not allow pets, so she had to leave Athena behind. The abuser then chained Athena to a tree. There she sat, for the last 6 weeks or so, with no shelter. Sometimes, he threw a little food out to her, but most days, he didn't. She was hungry thirsty, cold, and most of all...lonely. But she's safe now and lonely no more. Athena is in a foster home tonight, but tomorrow (12/19) she starts a new adventure at Paws In Prison, where she will learn all the things she needs to know to pass the Canine Good Citizen test and be the best version of herself she can be. She is already a very good girl. She minds very well and is eager to learn. She is very receptive to affection and training as well. Athena was already spayed when we got her in rescue, but sadly, she did test positive for heartworms. While she is at Paws in Prison, she will start her 30 days of doxycycline pre-treatment, then will be treated for heartworms after she graduates the program. She will be available for adoption after she is treated. Athena is only about a year old and in good health otherwise, so we don't expect any complications, and she should make a full recovery. She is reportedly 1/2 German Shepherd, 1/2 Husky. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Senior alert!Macy is German Shepherd mix with the most sweet soul and lovely disposition. She gets along with all of the animals in her foster home: dogs, cats, pigs and chickens! Macy is so gentle. She would do great in any home! From ones with little children to elderly individuals and anyone in between. She requires zero training and I'm pretty sure she understands English. She can free roam in the house and she does not tear anything up but she will go in a kennel if you prefer. She is so laid back and go with the flow. Whatever you ask of her is exactly what she'll do. Macy came in to rescue in September with a softball size tumor on her neck and drastically underweight. She was all but abandoned the last year of her life and the neighbors pulled together and did the best they could to find help.Once in rescue many vets and community members chipped in and got this girl on the road to recovery!Fast forward to today. You would never know how pitiful, broken and shut down this girl was just a few months ago.Macy's wounds have healed, she has gained weight, and her sweet soul shines so bright now! She is ready to find forever and is so deserving of a home that will cherish her for the rest of her days. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143Macy is 8ish years old, spayed, up to date on shots and monthly heartworm preventative. Story
Meet Leon, your new best friend, a 3-year-old German Sheperd Husky mix with eyes that will melt your heart and a goofy nature that will make you fall in love from the first kiss! He definitely likes attention and will let you know if he is feeling ignored. He will be vocal if he needs to go out, is hungry, or just wants you to pet him or give him a belly rub. He likes car rides and walks but can pull hard on the leash especially until he gets out some of his energy. He does have experience with kids and living with another dog, but he would do best in a home without young kids and other pets. He can be protective of his family in the home, but when he is out, he is very good at meeting strangers and wants to give lots of kisses. He is crate and house trained. He has also been trained to stay off the furniture and out of bedrooms. He knows some commands including sit, lay down, come, no, and stop. Leon is microchipped and up to date on all shots. All that's lacking is a dose of love from you to fill the empty space in his heart! No dog loves like a rescue dog and words are not adequate enough to describe that feeling! It is pure joy that you have to experience for yourself to be able to understand it! So, what are you waiting for? Allow Leon to fill that void in your life that you may not know you have! Please complete an application on our website if you would like to meet Leon: www.crcpa.org
