For Adoption: Nimbus!
Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle.
We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.

Say Hello to Nimbus! This sweet boy is approximately 4 months old and he is a very interesting mix of German Shepherd and Boxer! Nimbus is approximately 35 pounds right now, and we expect that he will likely be a medium/large sized dog around 50 lbs fully grown. He is a solidly built puppy and I expect he will have a more stocky Boxer build. Nimbus has beautiful red and brown short fur, with some gorgeous shepherd markings coming through on his tail and his collar. He has such a whimsical looking face and it is so easy to get lost in his gorgeous brown eyes that just stare right back at you, it’s obvious that his eye contact is meaningful.
Nimbus was found with 3 of his other siblings discarded, and they were thankfully picked up by the local shelter. Nimbus was very lucky to land a spot in foster care with Pound Dog Rescue! Since the moment we brought Nimbus home he has always had such a calm and collected demeanour. It didn’t take him long at all to warm up to all of the members of his foster home, he quickly made friends with the dogs and the humans. Nimbus is living in a home with adults and teens, and he has enjoyed every single moment that we have given him affection. The dogs in the home with Nimbus range from young to old, and big to small, and he has seamlessly fit in with everyone. He has no problem wrestling or playing tug of war with the big younger dogs in the home, and he is very mindful that the older dogs are not interested in play and he pays them no mind. Nimbus is also very good to just find a good chew bone or toy and keep himself busy on the pet bed. Nimbus would do well in a home with another young playful dog to keep him company, however he would also do very well being the only dog in a home. There is a cat in his foster home, and the cat is very dog savvy. Nimbus has shown mild interest in the cat, he doesn’t seem bothered by her, does not give her chase and does not bark at her. I feel that Nimbus could do well in a home with a cat, as long as the cats are dog savvy and have experience with dogs, and the new owners are fully prepared for the weeks that it could take to integrate a new cat/dog together.
When it comes to meeting new people, Nimbus is very calm and will sit there and basically just soak up all the love, he really is quite the people pleaser and he very much enjoys his human companionship. Nimbus has been enjoying many frequent walks with us, we currently walk him on a gentle leader head halter to help teach him leash respect in that he is not to pull. Nimbus absolutely loves his walks and getting out to sniff all the smells. He walks very well on his gentle leader and has shown no real interest when we pass other dogs on our walks, or when we see wildlife. It’s really important that Nimbus’ forever family be committed to his physical well-being by taking him on many walks, trails hikes and general adventures. With his breed mix, it is expected that he will be a medium to high energy dog and its extremely important that he be exercised properly every day to ensure he continues to be healthy and does not get into mischief in the home. When it comes to training we have only been working on a few basic things, Nimbus knows to come when we call his name, he knows how to sit, he knows that “ah ah” means to leave something alone and we have been working on down. Nimbus is a very smart boy and he is extremely food motivated so training will be a really good experience for both him and his forever family. It is really important that his forever family be committed to not only completing the required basic obedience class, but also that they want to take him on to advance levels of training. Training is so important for confidence and showing a dog what is expected of him, and training should always be a lifelong commitment.
Nimbus has been doing extremely well with his house training, in the first few weeks when we had him and he was really young it did take him some time to understand that you can’t just go where you want and when you want. However, once he started to understand the concept that we go outside and mom makes it a party and gives me lots of attention, there were less and less accidents every day. We now have no accidents inside with Nimbus! Nimbus does not have a tell yet for when he needs to go outside, however we do let him out frequently to be able to do his business. Nimbus is also very clean in his crate and does not have accidents in there. Nimbus is fully crate trained and he absolutely loves his crate. He is more than happy to walk into his bed when its bedtime, time for breakfast/dinner, or time for the humans to leave the home, and he is always very quiet in his crate as well. Nimbus has been on a few car rides, and he currently travels inside of a crate, he is more than happy to curl up and lay down and is quiet for the entire ride.
Nimbus has been to the vet and has received all of his age appropriate vaccinations, though he will need to receive some booster vaccinations in the future. He has been heartworm and lyme tested, has received dewormer and has been microchipped. He is a very healthy pup.
We think that Nimbus would really enjoy having a house with a yard for his forever home, he really enjoys his outside playtime and having easy access to a fully fenced area would allow him the ability to enjoy the outdoors and play fetch with his family. Since Nimbus is so quiet when he is in his crate we feel that he would be fine living in a condo or a semi-detached home too. But we do feel that he would really benefit from having his own backyard as he does enjoy the outdoors.
Nimbus is looking for a forever family with someone who is looking for a loveable and sweet boy to join them on their family adventures. Nimbus is looking for a home with a person or family who is already active and is looking to add a 4 legged companion to join them on their walks and hikes. Nimbus would be suited for a home with kids who are aged 8+, who have another young playful dog or where he is the only dog. If you feel that you can offer Nimbus a loving home and are prepared to take on the energy needs of this sweet boy then I urge you to apply now!
