Story
Meet Billy, the 3-year-old German Shepherd Leonberger mix who`s full of energy, excitement, and love. Billy is ready for his forever home and is looking for an active family to match his high-energy lifestyle. With a heart full of adventure, Billy loves to explore the world around him and is always ready for a good time. If you`re looking for a dog who will keep you on your toes and bring tons of joy, Billy might just be the perfect fit!Though Billy is a playful and affectionate dog, he`s still working on some of his manners. He’s had a bit of a rocky start, having been returned to the shelter a few times for behavior challenges that can be managed with the right guidance. Billy is seeking an experienced, patient owner who will continue his training and help him thrive in his new home.Training & Behavior Needs:Billy is crate trained and house trained, but he has some behavior quirks that need attention. Here`s what you need to know:Dog Selectivity: Billy prefers female companions. He`s not a fan of male dogs, and he’s not comfortable around cats or livestock. He’s best suited to a home with a female dog that can match his energy ( Meet and greets with potential dogs in the home is required) Resource Guarding: Billy has shown some resource guarding tendencies, so he’ll need an experienced owner who can manage this behavior with patience and consistency.Energy Level: Billy has an abundance of energy and would thrive in an active household. Whether it`s hiking, running, or playing fetch, Billy is always ready for the next adventure. A home with a large yard or access to outdoor space would be ideal.Training Progress: Billy knows basic commands and is eager to learn more. With a positive reinforcement approach, he will continue to make progress in his training. His new family will need to commit to working with him to refine his behavior, especially around distractions and during leash walks.Excitability: Billy tends to jump up when he`s excited, so he’ll need an owner who can work with him to calm down in these moments. Consistent training and boundaries will help him settle into a calmer routine. Why Billy?Billy is an affectionate, adventurous dog who will bring endless fun to the right home. He’s a loyal companion who will bond closely with his family and provide lots of love and laughter. If you`re looking for a dog who will be your hiking buddy, your running partner, and your best friend, Billy co

Story
Meet Quiet Violet! This girl doesn't bark, so if you need a loud guard dog, you'll have to look elsewhere. Violet actually "speaks" rather than barks, and only for mealtime. Violet is searching for her retirement home as she's around 8 years young now. She does well with short walks as she's had two TPLO surgeries, but it doesn't stop her from playing with squeaky balls in the yard! She is Miss Congeniality with other dogs and people alike. Treats, food and squeaky toys are all Violet's favourite things! She's also very clean and house trained. Violet's dreamhome wishlist: > A rural or suburban home. Violet is good with cows and horses, but not a fan of big city life. > A home with or without another balanced dog. > A mature home without young children (older teens okay). > Someone who works from home or is retired to ensure Violet gets enough "me" time. Hiring a dog walker or a family who work alternate hours would be other options. > Someone who wants a lifelong companion that will cherish Violet the way she'll cherish them! Story
Name, age, breed: Andy, 3yrs, German ShepherdLikes: going for walks, being outside, slow introductions, playing with his toys, learning new tricksDislikes: Strangers (may be shy), new environmentsWhat would be the ideal home? A home that will let Andy settle in at his own pace. He is very lovely and a gentle giant, but is shy to start. We would recommend breed experience, and no apartments due to his nervousness. Andy could benefit from continuing obedience training and leash training.Good with other cats? No due to prey driveGood with dogs? Yes, with the proper introduction. A dog who is the same size and activity level as well.Good with children? Recommend no children under 14 years old due to nervousness.Temperament: Gentle giant, sweet, happy boy, curious, smartMotivators? Treats, kibbleAny commands? Sit, PawHouse trained? UnknownCrate trained? UnknownHow long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Pulls hard on leash, has some separation anxiety in the shelterIf you think Andy is the one for you - fill out an application today!
