Story
Luciano is a lovable 1.5-year-old, 80-pound German Shepherd/Poodle mix, ready to find his forever family! He’s fully vaccinated/neutered and eager to settle into a home where he can share his boundless energy and love. Taking after his German Shepherd side, Luciano is deeply loyal to his people and home so he will be protective. He absolutely adores being around his humans and is always excited to show affection. However, his excitement can sometimes get the best of him—Luciano is still learning how to manage his puppy energy and, unfortunately, he wasn’t taught how to control his strength. He can be a bit mouthy and whiny, especially when he’s eager to get attention, and he’s working hard with his foster family on not jumping. While he’s still got plenty of puppy energy, Luciano is making great progress. He’s getting better on walks with the help of a no-pull harness and leash. He knows basic commands like "sit," "stay," and "down," and practices them every day, especially when out in public. He’s a smart guy and loves to show off his skills! Luciano’s grooming needs are typical for a Poodle mix—he requires grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep his coat looking its best, but he enjoys being brushed and handled. He recently had a grooming session and didn’t mind it at all. Though he does shed, regular brushing helps keep things manageable. Because of his exercise needs, protective and talkative nature, Luciano would not be the best fit for apartment living. He’s got a lot to say, especially when he’s excited! He’s been great with older children but would not be ideal for families with small children, as he could accidentally knock them over with his enthusiasm. He has not been tested around cats, so we’re not sure how he would do in a home with felines. If you're looking for a fun-loving, smart, and affectionate companion with a bit of puppy exuberance, Luciano might just be the perfect fit! He’s ready for a home where he can continue to grow, learn, and shower his family with love. If you are interested in adopting Luciano, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age. **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **December 15, 2024, 6:39 pm

Story
Meet Millie May! Quick Facts: Breed: German Shepherd mix Estimated Birthday: 12/11/2022 Size: roughly 80lbs --===================================== Meet Millie May, the girl who has it all - funny, friendly, athletic, curious, and smart! (They do say that variety is the spice of life.) Millie May is a happy, healthy adult dog who loves to play, explore, and make new friends. Whether it's playing with toys or finding the best spot for a tummy rub, Millie May is always game. She is the ultimate boating buddy and could spend HOURS out on the boat. She loves water and would make the perfect lake dog. If you're looking for a fun-loving, curious, and cuddly companion, look no further - Millie May is the girl for you! Here's to many happy adventures together! Millie May loves a good car ride, chewing on bones & has recently discovered the art of swimming. She is a goofy girl, but maintains her sweet nature while proving how incredibly smart she is through training! She is very food motivated & we encourage her adoptive family to utilize this to invest in obedience training. She does know "sit", "down" & is working on "stay". She can be protective of her favorite bone with other dogs in the home, but is easily redirected with another bone or toy she likes. Millie May has done well with the cat in the home and doesn't pay him any attention. She has not resided with a child, but is a still a big puppy at heart with lots of energy to burn. She sometimes knocks things over & sometimes her feet forget how to feet, and that may include bulldozing children who are less on the durable side. Millie May is crate trained and mostly house trained, she has occasional accidents. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Millie May is $265 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Story
Adoption Application: bit.ly/C2CND_App Quick Facts Breed: German Shepherd mix Age: 3 years old Size: Currently 50#, but slightly underweight - could stand to gain 5-10#. House-Trained & Crate trained Poco, a mixed breed boy who landed himself in the pound when he was seized from his ”home”. Now his home was the local pound and he was on death row which means he could be killed at any moment likely due to lack of space. (Let me remind you this is NOT the fault of the shelter workers, or volunteers - this is the fault of the trash that treated him like he was nothing more than worthless property). Poco was severely neglected and nearly starved to death. He weighed under 30 pounds when he first entered the system, he was skin and bones. Poco is visually impaired but we don’t know to what extent he can see and we don’t know what caused the issues with his eyes. We brought him into our rescue reassuring him that he is safe now and we will find him the most wonderful family who will treat him like a king. We could tell he was leary and almost a little shut down but we are here to help him overcome any obstacles. -Poco is visually impaired. Do not know extent. - He is learning the outdoors in a fenced yard. He requires a fenced in yard in his forever home due to his visual impairments. -He is currently learning steps and loves to be outside in the sun with his person. -We are currently in the process of introducing to different dogs and is doing great so far! -He does walk on a leash, the use of a halter with a grab handle is useful. Due to his vision impairment the handle halter helps to guide him safely. -He just needs sufficient time to settle into new surroundings. -He has not been tested with Cats. - Due to his previous life, he would do best eating separately as he may steal other dogs food. -He is a gentle soul that simply needs time to bloom. But he is worth every effort! Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Poco is $265 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers appropriate shots, microchipping, heartworm testing, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Our application process includes: a virtual home visit, veterinary record check (please call vet to release current/previous pet records), and a rent check (to make sure pets/breeds are welcomed). Please allow 5-7 business days to finalize the application process. - Local adopters only. Due to us finalizing adoptions at adopter's home, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

Story
Meet T-bone, an 8 yr. old German Shepherd. T-bone's human Dad just passed away and he is living in an outdoor kennel until fosters or adopters can be found. T-bone is friendly, affectionate, healthy and walks well on a leash. He's a super smart boy just looking for someone to love. He would prefer to be the only dog in the house, as he just wants his humans to give him all the attention he deserves!
