Story
Dusty is a 9 month old boy who has too much energy for me and my lifestyle. He is a very smart dog and very loving but I have only a small fenced in back yard for him and he needs a lot more open area to run off his energy. He loves to fetch frisbee and ball and loves his inside chew toys. I work part time and he can't seem to deal with being alone. He needs dog companions I think to play with and I think a male owner would work best for him. With some time he will calm down but I have health issues now that won't allow me to wait out that time till he is older. He will be a great dog for a young family. Update-Dusty is about 68 lbs. now and he seems to be at his adult size. He definitely loves to be outside. I can tell he is maturing and calming a little everyday as I expected. Please consider giving him a good home. He is a good dog, just needs time to grow into a mature dog that I know will be a wonderful companion.

Story
Ori is a playful and affectionate dog who's looking for a family to shower him with love and attention. He's great with children, especially young ones, and loves to be the center of attention. While he can get a bit rambunctious during playtime, he's never aggressive and simply doesn't realize his own size. Ori may need some time to adjust to living with other dogs. While he's friendly, he can be a bit boisterous at first. With patience and proper introductions, he'll warm up to canine companions. He's currently bonded to our Australian shepherd Luna who can go with him. We're hoping to find a family who can provide Ori with the time, attention, and training he needs to thrive. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Ori could be the perfect fit for you.

Story
Cynthia is a lovely German Shepherd-female, who looks like she has had a hard life-just to be 3 years old. She came in to the shelter as a stray-very skinny. She lays quietly on her bed waiting for the volunteers to take her out for her walk. She sleeps a lot-she doesn't smile much-but you can tell that she loves being near someone. She walks closely to her person-mindful to follow on leash-she leans in for hugs, and loves to have her head scratched. Typical of this breed, Cynthia seems to be a sensitive dog-she is waiting for that devoted person that she can trust. After her walk-she goes easily back to her kennel-her safe place-If you think you can make room for Cynthia-to take your time and build her trust and be her person-you won't be disappointed.Although she is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $400 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. If you're interested in learning more about her, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Cynthia 256075".She is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
Kali is the sweetest girl ever. She absolutely loves people and has so much energy. A friend was wanting to surrender her and I took her in because I did not want her to go to a kill shelter. Unfortunately since then she has become aggressive towards my dog and dogs in the dog park, including small dogs. I worry for her safety and the other dogs safety. She truly would thrive in a home where she would be the only dog. She is such a good girl. House trained, crate trained, and knows several tricks! She will come with a leash, harness, the crate I was given when I took her in, and a brand new bag of food. I would just love for her to go to a good home.
