Story
Hi there, I'm Vixen! I'm a senior German Shepherd mix, weighing about 55 pounds, and I'm ready to settle in and slow down. With a heart full of love and a gentle spirit, I enjoy the simple pleasures in life. I'm housetrained and get along well with other dogs, making me a great companion in any home. People are my favorite playmates, even though toys don't quite catch my fancy. I'm mild-mannered, always ready to share a kind gesture or a friendly wag. My age has only made me wiser and more loving-a true testament to the saying, "old is gold. While I may not be a puppy, I have a lifetime of love to give. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will offer you unconditional love and friendship, look no further. I'm here, ready to make beautiful memories with you. Ready to meet me? You can apply quickly and easily on our website: foothillshumanesociety.org Applying doesn't obligate you to adopt, but it makes the process smoother if you decide to! Story
Tally is just precious. At only a year old, she found herself scheduled for a 10am euthanasia at an overcrowded county shelter simply due to space and a broken toe (yes…a broken toe). Tally is currently in foster and doing AMAZING! She’s a Velcro pup and wants to be with you at all times. She doesn’t necessarily need to be pet constantly - she’s content just laying under your feet or beside you. She loves sniffing around and doing "find-it" games. She is incredibly intelligent and catches on to training quickly.  She gets along with all animals and is cat curious but gentle. She’s potty trained, not food aggressive at all, takes treats gently and walks well on a leash. Not a huge fan of the crate but her foster is working on her with that. She LOVES children and will lay on their lap as long as they pet her. Tally is a sensitive Shepherd and has shown some reactivity (barking/lunging) to new people, but this has improved with counter conditioning and moving away from triggers. When moving into a new home, her adopter will need to be patient and understand that these behaviors may emerge as she tries to figure out her new handler and home. Tally does phenomenal with a confident handler! She has attended numerous public adoption events with a confident handler and has shown zero issues meeting/seeing new people and other dogs. We are happy to provide her adopters with training support to continue to set Tally up for success in this field.  *******************************Tally is currently in a foster home, but we are happy to arrange a meet & greet with approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at https://bit.ly/USAHOTNADOPT2024 Adoption process:Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved. From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption. Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption. ##2122343##

Story
Sweet Layla is a gentle soul searching for a quiet home where she can spread her joy. Originally caught by Animal Control in Upstate, SC, she was taken to the county shelter where she was to be euthanized for space. Layla was terrified in the shelter environment and not thriving. Since being rescued by our organization and moving to foster, Layla has opened up and shown that she is an amazing dog! At 10 years old, she is mature and done with all of the puppy shenanigans. Layla is shy and hesitant when meeting new people, but warms up quickly (especially to females). Layla is dog social and cat friendly. Children intimidate her with their loud noises and sudden movements, so teenagers would probably be best, though she'd much prefer a mature household. When it comes to crating, Layla enters for a treat and relaxes, lays down, and is quiet. While she is crate trained, her foster currently leaves her out in the house when unattended and Layla is not destructive and just naps in her bed. She is house trained and has never had an accident in the house.Layla is always happy to go outside for a walk. She pulls minimally, but is easily corrected. She does zig zag as she is always exploring! She rides well in the car.Overall, Layla is a sweet, quiet, eager to please mature lady. She loves to get out of the house and explore with good energy despite her age. With a patient family to let her adjust, get to know them, and trust, she will make a wonderful loyal friend. ##2100813##

Story
Hello there, I'm a 3yr old mountain mutt, and I'm looking for a new forever home. I've got a heart full of love and a brain buzzing with smarts. Learning new tricks? That's my jam! I'm not just intelligent; I'm a quick learner too. I'm all about cuddles and affection, making me the perfect snuggle buddy. My current family adores me, and I love them to bits, but sadly, my long hair isn't the best match for their allergies and asthma. But I know there's another wonderful family out there for me. I dream of a home with a fenced yard where I can zoom around to my heart's content. I do well with smaller dogs and am okay with cats, but I prefer not to mingle with dogs my size or larger. Are you looking for a smart, trainable, and affectionate companion? Look no further! I'm ready to shower you with love and eager to continue my learning journey with you. If you've got the space and the heart for a sweet girl like me, let's meet and see if we're a match made in doggy heaven!
