Story
Don't let the soft grey muzzle on this beautiful sweet girl fool you! She is young at heart and eager to please. She knows how to sit and loves treats. Valentine is a curious girl and loves to explore her environment, but will return to you every few minutes to rest her head in your lap to let you know how much she appreciates the time you are spending with her. Come and meet her! A team member adds, "I spent time with this unusually handsome girl in her room. She is REALLY friendly -- she came right up to me. She is calm with a nice energy level. She enjoyed getting scratches and rubs. She knows shake and will perform it for you as soon as she sees a treat. Another team member says, "Valentine is such a good girl. She's easy to harness and leash, and she's a great walking buddy. We went to the park, and she enjoyed getting a few zoomies out and was brave enough to try the agility ramp all on her own. She checked back in with me frequently for pets and sat like a perfect lady for treats."

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt Sadie is a 10 yr old female shepherd/terrier mix who weighs 52lbs. She is strong-willed and does best with male dogs. She will do best with a dog companion in her new home. She is very athletic and enjoys attention from people. Because she is athletic, she needs daily walks and a very secure yard. She can jump a 6ft fence, so she will need a minimum fence height of 6-7ft preferably a no-climb fence or a concrete wall/fence. She is a really smart girl and will respond well to training, as long as she’s given time. Sadie will make an amazing companion for any family and will probably do well with children.  For more information on Sadie, please complete the online adoption application and call Shirley at 575-491-9577.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. How to Adopt Kai came to us with four other dogs. He came from a property where him and 35+ other dogs lived outside. Kai is about 3-4 years old, based on behavior. They all had absolutely no socialization with people. Although the foster home is working with him, he is unsocialized and will need lots of patience and love in any new home. Kai recently lost his bonded pair – Luna.  He is now learning how to be part of a larger pack. He is currently in a foster home where he is getting some training and rehabilitation.  He is still leery of “the humans” but will allow pets and offerings of treats.  He is learning how to use his voice and has started singing with the other huskies in the house.  He is gentle and kind and needs a ton of love and patience.  But he is so worth the effort.   If you are interested in a fostering or adopting this handsome boy, please fill out our adoption application. You can get to the Adoption Application by clicking 'How to Adopt' and then click 'Complete the adoption application' If you would like to learn more about Kai, you can contact Shirley at (575)491-9577  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:23 pm

Story
Meet Chip! This handsome guy has had a rough start but has made great progress with our staff! Chip spent several months as a stray at Intel evading any attempts to be caught. He finally made his way to the City Shelter, where we were able to bring Chip into our care. Immediately we began working on socializing him. He spent many weeks shut down and uninterested in any attempts at affection. We decided to introduce him to another pup and the second they met Chip was like a new dog! He has become a playful, goofy pup. He likes roughhousing with his kennel mate and playing chase with the staff. He is still working on learning the leash but has made lots of progress. He would need a couple meet and greets before going into a home. He deserves the best family and will be patiently waiting.UPDATE: Chip has been in a foster home for a few days and we have learned, he loves dog beds, fluffy blankets and following around his human and new dog friends. He loves all the dogs he meets and even loves cats! When trying to potty in the home, the foster tells him no and he stops and waits to go outside. He is successfully learning to potty train and does well in a kennel. For more information please call our main phone line, or email dogswmr@gmail.com
