Story
Hi, my name is Dior! My DNA test reveals that I am part German Shepherd and part Australian Cattle dog. I am 3.5 years old and weigh about 65 lb. If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am highly athletic and super smart. I thrive on mental and physical stimulation, so I’d love an active household where I can show off my skills and smarts! I might have some energy, but I’m not always go-go-go.. I also love to lay with you on the couch, or sit right next to you and be your protector. My crate is my safe place, so I also enjoy spending some alone time in there from time to time. My foster family would like you to know that my favorite thing in the world, besides affection, is squeaky toys! I also love following my foster family around like I am their shadow; they say that I am truly Man and Woman’s best friend. I am 100% house trained, crate trained, and clicker trained. Oh, and I also do great on my leash! If you're looking for a dog who's as bold as she is loyal, Dior is ready to take on her next adventure with you. With the right family, she’ll be a fantastic companion, bringing lots of energy, love, and personality into your life. No small animals is a must. Her adoption donation fee is $350. Please apply directly on our website in the drop down menu https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! February 22, 2025, 4:25 pm

Story
To whom it may concern, my name is Joe & I am Sage's current owner. She is absolutely the right dog at the wrong time for me personally - I rescued Sage, or she rescued me, on May 17th 2024 from the NE HS, & she is an amazing dog. She completed the 6-week intense training at Fidelity K9 from early July 2024 until mid-August 2024. Full transparency, I got divorced in March 2024 and was very lonely when my other two pups went with mom (ex-spouse), and so I wanted/needed companionship. Sage is a wonderful dog and she is so very kind - I just have a busy work life and it's not fair to Sage to be in her kennel for extended hours during the day. She walks religiously twice a day (AM & PM) for at least a mile each time. She is so sweet, but is likely best for a one-dog home, but that can be up to the next owner and effort to see about changing, if desired. I love Sage so much and my three sons and I want the BEST home for her. Thank you for considering our lovely Miss Sage :-) Joe Zadina

Story
Marla (born in April 2018) is an exquisite German Shepherd in search of a dedicated and patient owner. She dreams of finding a loving home that can offer her the stability she needs to conquer her fears and embark on a journey towards a brighter future! While Marla envisions a life as the center of attention in a new household, there is a possibility for her to adjust to living with other dogs given a proper introduction. She may feel anxious around dogs in general and would benefit from multiple visits with her potential adopter. To ensure Marla's peace of mind, it is recommended that she be placed in a child-free environment as young children and highly energetic dogs tend to overwhelm her. Additionally, a secure 6-foot fence is essential as she has the ability to effortlessly leap over a 4-foot fence. With a well-structured routine, positive reinforcement, and the guidance of a professional trainer, we firmly believe that Marla will flourish into a remarkable companion. If you feel that Marla could be the perfect fit for your family, please take the first step by completing an application to meet this endearing sweetheart! Adoptions for Marla are limited to the area within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area so the pet can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. The suggested adoption donation for Marla is $250.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs. If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Rose (b. Aug 2023) is a German Shepherd/Pitbull mix.  This girl is very smart - she is ready, willing and able to move to her new home with you!  She is totally housebroken and stays in her kennel at night and when her foster parents are away from home.  She still does puppy things - jumping, digging and a little chewing.  Her foster parents are working with her so she doesn't bark when people walk past the yard.  She gets along great with the other dog and cat in the house.  Give her a tennis ball and she will entertain herself for 15-20 minutes!  Rose is such a sweet dog and anyone would be lucky to have her!!  The suggested adoption donation for Rose is $365, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than six months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger ,than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases)  during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##1833643##

Story
Hexa is a German Shepherd who is looking for her furever home (b. Dec 2015).  She's a bit of a shy girl who'd prefer a quieter home with people that will keep her active, but doesn't mind when new people come over!  She gets along with older children, but would prefer to be the only pet in the home.  This lovely girl is food motivated, which makes her easier to train, although she already knows basic commands like sit, down, and waiting for permission to walk through doorways.  She's potty trained, crate trained, and completely house trained!   She loves to run and play outside, so a fenced in yard where she can feel safe is a must.  Inside, Hexa loves a quiet spot to call her own where she can go and relax when she feels so inclined.  Because of her shy nature, Hexa is looking for a home that will allow her time and grace to warm up to her new family and learn to trust them.   If you can provide Hexa with the love, time, and affection that she desires, apply today! The suggested adoption donation for Hexa is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
