Updated Bio as of June 2023: Jupiter was originally found as a lost pup with her 2 brothers in a corn field during winter. She nearly froze to death, she was so cold she couldn't run/move quickly and people were able to catch her. They were all very thin and had to fight to survive with the coyotes out there. Jupiter is learning to trust humans and will be a happy dog around me but still skittish over touch. With new people she will take time to warm up for sure. Jupiter's adoption fee is sponsored. She is ok with other dogs but initially acts like she's aggressive. It's the survival mode in her. Once she knows they aren't going to hurt her she warms up. She will need to be fed separately from other animals. At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. Fern is an incredibly smart and lovely Husky/German Shephard/Saint Bernard mix, but I unfortunately need to rehome her due to my chronic illness clashing with her high energy, as well as financial issues. She’s incredibly smart and food motivated, picking up on tricks and commands very quickly once the groundwork is laid, especially with regular training sessions. She loves getting cuddled and doing puzzles, because anything that can get the gears in her head turning is a big favorite to her. She does need more socialization with other dogs, and has some issues with jumping, and we’ve been working on it, but that might cause difficulties if you have kids. She loves going on walks, and does fairly good on leashes, along with loving chasing toys in big backyards. She’s still young, and with the proper love, socialization, and training she could be set up for success and be the smartest companion you could ask for. Lu is a 3 year old Shepard mix looking for a new home. We adopted Lu about 2 years ago from KC Pet Project and despite our best efforts he has resource guarding issues with our older dog. He is a lovable goofy dog who loves walks and being outside as much as laying about on the couch. Lu should live in a single pet home due to his resource guarding. We have not had issues with him resource guarding from us. He is very well trained otherwise and is familiar with an e-collar. He knows place, sit, stay, heel, and come. He does get uncomfortable around small children but he will remove himself when he gets uncomfortable. We have two small children and have not had issues. For any interested new families we would be willing to provide as much information and answer any questions about Lu. Full disclosure, Lu did bite my forearm in November while breaking up a fight between him and our other dog. No puncture wounds and did not require stitches.

We rescued Chico from the streets of Texas when he was only 2 days old. We have loved Chico ever since. Things got complicated when we welcomed our child into the world and suddenly had no time to train, socialize or spend time with Chico. Chico is an outside dog who doesn’t want to come inside anymore. I’m worried that one day i’ll wake up and he’ll be frozen to death outside. He needs an owner who isn’t as busy with kids and can focus on training him, socializing him & loving him better than we could.
