Story
Brooklyn is a beautiful 9 month old Husky/Shepherd Mix who is smaller in size at around 45 pounds. She and her siblings were posted on facebook as needing rescue after being abandoned by their mom when they were just a few days old. This turned out to be a lie, but they weren’t in a good situation and needed rescue. One of our nursing mom fosters, who had lost several of her own puppies, took them in as her own until they were weaned. Brooklyn is an intelligent, athletic, and affectionate girl but it takes her a little while to trust new people. Once she does, she is attached for life and very loyal and will let you do practically anything to her. She is food motivated which will make training easy once a bond is formed and she loves her crate – in fact, she will put herself in it when she sees it’s getting time for her foster mom to leave for work. Brooklyn is housetrained via a dog door, but we’re pretty sure she’s fully housetrained. She currently lives with 8 other dogs of various ages and size (8lbs-80lbs) and is good with them but does require a brief introduction period – she can be a little bossy for the first 5-10 minutes. Brooklyn is great in the car and loves to go on walks – she could use a little work on the leash but mainly because she wants to chase everything that moves – but again, she is trainable with the right motivation. She seems to have a drive to please and learn new things as she is very attentive everything around her and really looks for guidance from her “person”/foster mom. At night, Brooklyn curls up close and sleeps soundly until you are ready to get up. We believe Brooklyn will do best in a home with another dog she can learn from and play with at her level, a person/family who is willing to take the time to earn her trust and help build her confidence, older or no kids and no cats because she does have some herding breed tendencies. If you are interested in meeting or knowing more about Brooklyn, please submit an application and her foster mom will be happy to reach out to you. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. “Princess” is an approximately 3 year old spayed female shepherd mix that desperately needs a home. Her owner was unable to continue to feed her, and a neighbor stepped up to help care for Princess but they are not able to care for her long-term.  Princess is good with other dogs, and after having multiple litters of puppies before getting spayed, she is very maternal. She is friendly with strangers but will let you know when they come into the yard! Princess appears to be house-trained and is non-destructive when she comes inside the house at night to sleep. Once she knows where “home” is, she is not one to wander and sticks close to where her people are.  Princess is fully vaccinated but is unfortunately heartworm positive. If Princess sounds like she will fill an empty spot you may have in your heart, please fill out an adoption form  at the following link: https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Save a Stray pets are in foster homes.  Please complete an application at www.saveastray.org to make arrangements to meet our pets.  This pet has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, and is on heartworm and flea prevention.  Adoption fee is $175 if local and $500 if transport is needed. If you are interested in meeting one or our pets please complete an adoption application at saveastray.org or email info@saveastray.org if you have a question.  Thank you for considering adding a homeless pet to your family. Story
Hi, I’m Lacey, a 1 year old German Shepherd mix, and I’m heartworm negative! I’m not a fan of little kids or small animals so I’d thrive best in a home where I’m the main focus. I can be a bit strong willed and enjoy having my own space so a kennel when you`re away is perfect for me. I also eat a little too fast, so a slow feeder would help me enjoy my meals. I love going outside and feeling the wind on my face while I play. With a little patience and the right setup, I’ll be your loyal and loving best friend. If you’re ready for me to be the lace that ties your heart together, adopt me today!
