Mindy is precious to us. We adopted her 5 years ago in Michigan, and she has been a part of our family since then. She is a 7 year old German Shepard-Lab mix. She is high energy, fun, and intensely loyal. She loves to fetch, cuddle, and go on long walks. She does not do well with other dogs, but is amazing with people and kids. She will kiss you in the face is you let her, but learns boundaries quickly. She is extremely healthy, with only minor indigestion problems when she eats too much people food. She has calmed down considerably in her adult years and now will nap for 3-4 hours during the day. We are looking to re-home Mindy as we prepare for our second child. As mentioned, Mindy is amazing with kids, but deserves more attention then we are able to give her. She would do amazing in a home with a fenced backyard where she could be taken on multiple walks a day. She loves hard, and thrives when people are firm but loving in return.

Luci was rescued by a kind soul that found her by the river super skinny. She called us and we picked her up. We believe she is a purebred GSD. She is on the smaller side at just 40lbs so if you love the breed but can't handle a very large dog, Luci would be perfect. She is spayed, UTD on all required vaccines, HW tested negative and microchipped. Typical to the breed, Luci does have a prey drive so no cats or small dogs or other small pets. Demure. Mindful. Cutesy. Maddie.This big gal has a big heart for her human friends and photos do not do her justice. Just come in and see for yourself! It’s hard to tell what breed mix she has, as she has the extra-thick puff of fur around her neck like a chow, with the coloring and coat (including the back waves!) of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. She has the round face of a Lab with the ears of a Shepherd. She has the bright amber eyes and the monochromatic look of them with her coat is utterly stunning. If ever a dog deserved a free DNA test, Maddie is your gal. Maddie’s temperament is quite in line with a standard Chessie, as she is focused and affectionate when she has some 1:1 time with the volunteers at MACC. She can have a mind of her own and be stubborn about going and doing what she wants, especially in the shelter environment where dogs don’t get a whole lot of choice about much. She is polite without being over the top.Maddie’s behavior with other dogs within our playgroup program is a 180 of the above. In her playgroup appearances, Maddie was not aggressive with the other dogs but she was very controlling. She did a lot of posturing and height seeking – both of which are antagonistic gestures – and when she would correct another dog for a behavior she didn’t like, her corrections were over the top/too much. Unless her new owner has a lot of dog handling experience – including with dogs who don’t particularly enjoy the company of other dogs – we feel Maddie would do best as the only dog (and pawsibly animal) in the home. Being able to soak up the time, attention, and training abilities of the humans in the household is a scenario where this gal will be set up to shine! Hello my name is Buffy and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Buffy is the sweetest girl you'll meet! She loves to go on walks and enjoys running around our backyard and neighborhood park. She's great at walks - will only pull from time to time but responds great to reminders to not pull and never goes after any squirrels or bunnies. She mostly ignores other dogs in the neighborhood but likes to lay around with our resident pup or play with her at the park. She is so calm, rarely barks (we've only heard a couple small barks when new people come to the door) and does amazing in her crate. She spends most of the day snoozing away on her bed or in her crate. She's very timid when you first meet her but the longer you know her the more loving she gets. She loves to snuggle up on our beds to sleep and only jumps up when you pat the bed so she knows it's ok to hop up. She does amazing with our kids and seems to love them more than us! She is going to be a great loyal companion - maybe yours?

He loves people and looooves belly rubs. He is great with my teens, but still has a tiny bit of very gentle puppy mouthiness so might not be good with little kids right now. Birdie is looking to be an only animal, he doesn't want to share the couch with others and thinks that he should have all of the belly rubs. He does like to to romp around and isn't aware of his big size so a fenced yard would be ideal as his leash manners could use some work. He loves rawhide-style bones but doesn't seem to understand toys/balls yet He is a lover who will flop onto you for pets. Just the absolute sweetest.

Gunner is an adorable sable male GSD. Gunner lost his mom suddenly and needed a place to go, so we took him in. Gunner had a knee surgery previously, so he does walk a little funny, but that does not stop him from playing with his jolly balls! Gunner should be the only dog in the home at this point in his life. He is crate trained, neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. I was found on the streets, severely underweight and in pretty bad shape, but finally got taken into rescue and was given some much-needed love and care. During this whole journey, they told me that I am likely almost 5 years old and although I was skinny at the time, they helped me get back to a normal weight of about 75lbs. Being on the streets made me pretty weary of new people, so I am not a huge fan of strangers and don't like being approached. Because of this, I don't think I would do the best around young kids; however, after you give me some time to check you out, I do warm up quick. I haven't been around many cats, but I do know that I am a fan of playing with the dog friends my family has introduced me to. Aside from some of my skittish behaviors and fear towards new people, I actually am very smart. My foster parents tell me that I am one of the smartest dogs they know and love making me do all these ridiculous things. I know the basic commands like sit, shake, stay, and lay down, but also know a few others like when to place on my mat and can go to my kennel when being told...usually. I also am big fan of play wrestling with my foster parents but am still working on calming myself down when they tell me they're done. I can get a little mouthy (I call them teeth kisses) but have learned that this is a bad trait to have, so I have been working hard to stop doing that as well. I can definitely keep up with an energetic lifestyle and love to play and go on walks. When I am not playing, I don't mind lounging around. I typically like staying near my people and making sure I know what is happening at all times, and definitely love some cuddles and belly scratches. Overall, I know there are some things I need to work on, but I am convinced that if someone can continue to work with me, I can make a great companion. I love being outside so would love a place where I can still explore the yard and have room to run around. I wouldn't mind sharing a house with another pup as long as they can manage playing rough sometimes. While I might not do great in a crazy home with kids and tons of new people, I would love to be someone's buddy for life. Trooper is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age.
