Calista is a beautiful, crazy, playful, rambunctious 2 year old German Shepherd. Found out in the woods in Rio Grande Valley with her mom and sister fending for themselves and trying to survive the coyotes. She was very skittish when she arrived at the rescue, and at times can still be, but she has come a long way. She gets excited and does a crazy spin in her excitement. She loves playing with other dogs, loves treats and playing with her foster siblings. She really needs a patient person who knows the breed and is willing to work with her and have the dedication to wait until she shows her very silly side :) Her foster mom has learned her secret- treats and smelling like hot dogs/ peanut butter helps! Calista loves other dogs and gets along great with her foster homes pack. She is playful and energetic with them. Sometimes maybe too energetic as she can be an escape artist and find even the smallest of holes in the fence to see if she can fit and make a b-line to the neighbors house! Calista will need to stay local to Texas for the time being. Each day she is gaining confidence and understanding and realizing that people are not all mean and that there ares some out there that really do love dogs and want nothing but goodness for them. Sheeba is my name and I am quite the celebrity around here :) Let me tell you all about it... have a seat and grab some tea. I was living on the streets with a gang of friends... found by a rescuer we were being fed but there was no room to put all of us. Of course, I was pregnant and after I gave birth the rescuers were afraid with all the storms that my babies wouldn't survive out there. So the pound was called, and let me tell you....I WOULD HAVE PROTECTED MY PUPS WITH MY LIFE........ of course, that is deemed "aggressive" and after my two day stray hold I was going to be euthanized and my puppies sent to rescues to bottle feed and raise up :( But MY rescue said, UH UH... She comes with the pups.... and they MADE IT HAPPEN! Now, it wasn't easy but I settled in to the routine and learned my caregiver's names and soon enough I was eating out of their hands. And they learned some neat but sad things about me.... I belonged to someone who trained me....... it is sad because no one has any idea where that person is nor why I was living on the streets :( Also, I am a very smart girl so I am also very sensitive to change....but, with my pups grown and adopted, I am now a model citizen at the rescue. Look at my video....I had JUST met the trainer that day and she absolutely fell head over heels for me. Now I am ready for you, I will complete your family. I am still working on my other dog skills and would probably be best where I can be the only dog and give you all my love. I am a gorgeous girl, my coat resembles a Belgian Shepherd's and I have GSD face and mannerisms. So if you want to adopt me, you must love and understand the working breeds. Hello my name is Buffy and I am from Minnesota. From her foster: Buffy is the sweetest girl you'll meet! She loves to go on walks and enjoys running around our backyard and neighborhood park. She's great at walks - will only pull from time to time but responds great to reminders to not pull and never goes after any squirrels or bunnies. She mostly ignores other dogs in the neighborhood but likes to lay around with our resident pup or play with her at the park. She is so calm, rarely barks (we've only heard a couple small barks when new people come to the door) and does amazing in her crate. She spends most of the day snoozing away on her bed or in her crate. She's very timid when you first meet her but the longer you know her the more loving she gets. She loves to snuggle up on our beds to sleep and only jumps up when you pat the bed so she knows it's ok to hop up. She does amazing with our kids and seems to love them more than us! She is going to be a great loyal companion - maybe yours?

Hello my name is Thistle, I'm from Minnesota! Hi, my name is Thistle, but my foster family has been calling me Boden. I am a sweet, snuggly, and goofy pup! I am being fostered at an in-home daycare, so I am around kids ages 2 years to 4 years old plus the resident’s children ages 14 and 19 years old and their resident dog. I am very playful and enjoy pulling out toys one by one from the toy bin, especially the tennis balls! I am always looking for someone to follow around but I’m also happy chewing on a bone or playing with a toy. I’m an expert snuggler and know how to fit myself in the tiniest spaces to get some cuddles! I am working on being potty trained and am an avid bell ringer to be let out! I am still learning that being kenneled isn’t as terrifying as it was when I first got here but I still am not a fan of it. I will bark/whine for a bit before I eventually settle down. I know how to 'sit' and am very excited to show this off when treats and food are involved. Leash training is also going very well. We are working on down and to not nibble on hands or clothing! I’m just a typical puppy that is eager to learn and I can’t wait to meet you!

Hello my name is Burdock, I'm from Minnesota! From his temp foster: Burdock (we call him Birdie) a 1 year old GSD mix. He loves people and looooves belly rubs. He is great with my teens, but still has a tiny bit of very gentle puppy mouthiness so might not be good with little kids right now. Birdie is looking to be an only animal, he doesn't want to share the couch with others and thinks that he should have all of the belly rubs. He does like to to romp around and isn't aware of his big size so a fenced yard would be ideal as his leash manners could use some work. He loves rawhide-style bones but doesn't seem to understand toys/balls yet He is a lover who will flop onto you for pets. Just the absolute sweetest.

Hello there, my name is Bonny. I have been told that I have a gentle soul and a sweet personality. I do great with humans and dogs of all ages! I was rescued from a home that wasn't a safe place for me and my puppies along with many other dogs who also lived there. I raised my puppies and now, they have all found their families! Luci was rescued by a kind soul that found her by the river super skinny. She called us and we picked her up. We believe she is a purebred GSD. She is on the smaller side at just 40lbs so if you love the breed but can't handle a very large dog, Luci would be perfect. She is spayed, UTD on all required vaccines, HW tested negative and microchipped. Typical to the breed, Luci does have a prey drive so no cats or small dogs or other small pets. She loves people and gets along well with a large group of dogs here. Also, Luci is reliably housetrained. I am a stunning, wrinkly-faced young adult female Belgian Malinois/Boxer mix with an adorable underbite who’s the perfect mix of energetic and relaxed. I am an unpredictable gal with a high prey drive so cats are not a good fit for me; I’m reactive when it comes to other dogs or unknown/sudden sounds like bikes whizzing by etc.; and I’m a pack follower so if there’s a fight, I may feel compelled to join the chaos. That said, I went to a training facility where there were many other dogs and I did great so I think with time, patience, and continued training I may overcome these ‘quirks’ of mine!! Hee, hee! Anyway, my favorite activities include cuddling with my people; going for leashed walks; snoozing on the couch; eating; playing with squeaky toys; chewing on bones/sticks; chasing the cat; chilling with my canine sib; running zoomies; and barking at strangers outside! I don’t like a lot of commotion and have been known to bite if someone comes into the house when foster mom is not home. I am, however, a very smart girl who will not only give myself a kenneled ‘time-out’ if I’m barking too much but I am potty trained and I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “kennel/crate”, and “heel”! Seriously, how brilliant am I!?! I am a great listener too which makes training a lot easier! Hee, hee!! I know that I’m a bit unpredictable right now but I’m still young and I really am a sweetheart who simply wants to find unconditional love in my own furever home with a patient family who will NEVER give up on me!
