Story
Meet Tulane! This charming Shepherd mix is the ultimate snuggle buddy, always ready to curl up in your arms and soak up the love. He’s incredibly tolerant, happily letting you carry him around, give him all the hugs, and shower him with affection—Tulane truly thrives on being close to his humans. While he may take a moment to warm up, once he does, you'll find an affectionate and loyal friend who’s always by your side. Tulane is house-trained and crate-trained, making him an easy fit for your family. Though he enjoys the company of other dogs, his herding instincts can sometimes make him a bit of a pest to other pups, so he would do best as an only dog or with other dogs that are able to be patient with him as he learns his boundaries.  Tulane has a condition called patellar luxation, affecting his kneecap, but with a few lifestyle adjustments, he’s still an active and joyful dog. The vet recommends avoiding long walks on pavement, but this doesn't keep him from living life to the fullest—he’s great at finding ways to entertain himself without putting stress on his knee. If you're looking for a gentle, snuggly, and endlessly loyal companion, Tulane is your perfect match. Bring him home, and let this sweet soul fill your life with warmth and joy! Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule. Age: Approximately 8 years old Weight: 64 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Does well being left loose when alone   Meet Ms. Ruby Mae! Ruby Mae is a happy-go-lucky girl who is in rescue because her owner passed away. She adores her people and is a velcro dog. She’s shy at first, but it doesn't take her long to bond and become your loyal shadow. Ruby Mae has a fun, peppy energy and needs exercise and her mind engaged, but overall, she has a calm demeanor and will curl up in the evenings to relax with you and the family. She loves to walk around with her toys in her mouth, the noise makers and chews are her favorite, and she is obsessed with car rides and being involved in whatever her people are doing! She also loves walks and running in the dog parks but still needs more training not to pull. She's good with other dogs, but because she can be shy, she needs her space during the intro, and once she feels safe, she will sometimes even engage in play with dogs her size or smaller. Ruby Mae feels the safest at night if she can sleep on the bed or next to you on the floor in her own bed. She is learning basic commands and is doing great with come, sit, stay, and lay down, but she will need continued reinforcement. She is 100% potty trained. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Demure. Mindful. Cutesy. Maddie. This big gal has a big heart for her human friends and photos do not do her justice. Just come in and see for yourself! It’s hard to tell what breed mix she has, as she has the extra-thick puff of fur around her neck like a chow, with the coloring and coat (including the back waves!) of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. She has the round face of a Lab with the ears of a Shepherd. She has the bright amber eyes and the monochromatic look of them with her coat is utterly stunning. If ever a dog deserved a free DNA test, Maddie is your gal. Maddie’s temperament is quite in line with a standard Chessie, as she is focused and affectionate when she has some 1:1 time with the volunteers at MACC. She can have a mind of her own and be stubborn about going and doing what she wants, especially in the shelter environment where dogs don’t get a whole lot of choice about much. She is polite without being over the top.Maddie’s behavior with other dogs within our playgroup program is a 180 of the above. In her playgroup appearances, Maddie was not aggressive with the other dogs but she was very controlling. She did a lot of posturing and height seeking – both of which are antagonistic gestures – and when she would correct another dog for a behavior she didn’t like, her corrections were over the top/too much. Unless her new owner has a lot of dog handling experience – including with dogs who don’t particularly enjoy the company of other dogs – we feel Maddie would do best as the only dog (and pawsibly animal) in the home. Being able to soak up the time, attention, and training abilities of the humans in the household is a scenario where this gal will be set up to shine! Come in and meet this amber eyed beauty!MACC`s walk-in adoption hours are:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 1-5pmThursday: 1-7pmSaturday: 11am-3pm

Story
Bluesy isn’t just a dog - he’s a vibe. This sweet, smart, and cheerful boy lives for peanut butter treats, toys (the more, the merrier), and adventures with his favorite humans. Recently, he visited Bone Marche, where he personally selected his own toy - because why wouldn’t he? With a “can-do” attitude and oodles of energy, Bluesy thrives on exploring the world around him. He’s got skills too: “sit” and “shake” are in his bag of tricks, and this curious boy would love to learn more! On leash, he may pull a little (enthusiasm overload!), but he handles passing other dogs and people like a pro. Bluesy’s playstyle with fellow pups has been chill and friendly just like his personality!Oh, and let’s not forget: he absolutely sleighs in festive accessories. Reindeer antlers? Holiday scarf? He’s ready for his photoshoot close-up. Bluesy is a people dog through and through - he’s here and ready to fill your life with unconditional love, endless tail wags, and pure joy.

Story
Meet Peaches, a stunning 1-year-old GSD/Husky mix with a heart as big as her brain! At 49lbs, she’s the perfect size for cuddles, hikes, or just hanging out on the couch. Peaches is incredibly smart and eager to learn—she’s still young and has a lot of life to explore, and she’s ready to find her forever home where she can grow, learn and thrive!Peaches can be a bit nervous around new dogs and prefers one-on-one interactions over large group settings. But don’t let that fool you—once she warms up and feels comfortable, she’s all about light, gentle play with her new fur friend. Peaches is also skittish around new people and will choose to run away if able, making her a flight risk for any new home she goes to. Once she warms up to someone she is an absolute lovebug, but she’s hoping to find a new owner(s) who understand how important patience will be, in earning her long term trust and commitment. Due to her shyness, a home with young children around on a regular basis is not a fit for this cutie.Peaches’ striking markings make her a showstopper, and she turns heads wherever she goes! If you’re looking for a sweet, active and intelligent pup to share your life with, Peaches might just be the perfect fit for you.Come meet her during open adoption hours: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday: 1-5pmThursday: 1-7pmFriday: 1-5pmSaturday: 11am-3pm

Story
Luci was rescued by a kind soul that found her by the river super skinny. She called us and we picked her up. We believe she is a purebred GSD. She is on the smaller side at just 40lbs so if you love the breed but can't handle a very large dog, Luci would be perfect. She is spayed, UTD on all required vaccines, HW tested negative and microchipped. Typical to the breed, Luci does have a prey drive so no cats or small dogs or other small pets. She loves people and gets along well with a large group of dogs here. Also, Luci is reliably housetrained. If you would like to make this beautiful and sweet girl your new family member, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send our info and application. Story
Mindy is precious to us. We adopted her 5 years ago in Michigan, and she has been a part of our family since then. She is a 7 year old German Shepard-Lab mix. She is high energy, fun, and intensely loyal. She loves to fetch, cuddle, and go on long walks. She does not do well with other dogs, but is amazing with people and kids. She will kiss you in the face is you let her, but learns boundaries quickly. She is extremely healthy, with only minor indigestion problems when she eats too much people food. She has calmed down considerably in her adult years and now will nap for 3-4 hours during the day. We are looking to re-home Mindy as we prepare for our second child. As mentioned, Mindy is amazing with kids, but deserves more attention then we are able to give her. She would do amazing in a home with a fenced backyard where she could be taken on multiple walks a day. She loves hard, and thrives when people are firm but loving in return.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $500 plus taxViola (aka Roxy) is a sweet little girl....shy at meeting new people so need to give her a few minutes and she will gradually approach and sniff you. Once she realizes you are ok, she will warm up to you. Viola is a dog who does best if there is another dog in the home. She loves to play with other dogs and is more relaxed if she has a buddy to hang out with. She is fine with cats....pretty much ignores them.  She is used to being in a kennel for long periods of time and is quiet when kenneled. She appears to be potty trained and doesn't mess in her kennel either. She is not a big barker right now as she is a bit insecure.... But that could change the more confident she becomes. It took awhile for her to want to crawl in my lap and seek petting, but with encouragement and realizing it felt pretty good to snuggle on my lap and get attention, she is becoming more comfortable with it.  She would be a wonderful addition to any family!
