Story
Here's Lucy!! ....and she's got some 'splaining to do! She'd like you to know that she's beautiful, smart, funny and all of that, but she plays catch like an major leaguer - and she will play until you are exhausted :) She came in as a stray on New Year's Day. She is a Senior gal, but don't tell her that - she just wants to have fun!! Lucy would love to join your family and seems to do fine with kids. She doesn't seem to care much for cats, so a home without kitties is probably best as far as Lucy is concerned! She keeps a fairly clean kennel here at the shelter, so should just need a bit of training in her new home to get used to the new set up and she'll be ready to get out in the yard and play ball!! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Gunner is a great dog who isn't quite used to having little kids in his house. We recommend older children for him to be successful in a new home. Gunner is playful and loving. He gets along with other dogs but doesn't care for the cats much. Gunner is a bit of a parrot because he loves to lay on the back of whatever you're sitting on! He loves to be brushed and petted. :) You have to meet him to appreciate his quirky personality. Gunner has a bit of anxiety and would benefit from only having 1 other animal in the home or no other animals in the home. We feel he would also benefit from someone being home a majority of the time. He really is a good boy who just needs a chance to love someone. Gunner is microchipped and crate trained. He does howl once in a while in the night. :) Come meet him!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Warren is an outgoing, large, mush of a dog who was found as a stray on a rural property. He was held for the legal stray hold and no owner was ever found. We think he's 1-2 years old and appears to be a mix of German Shepherd Dog, husky, cattle dog, and who knows what else. He's fluffy and friendly. He will be vet checked and vaccinated on Nov. 15th so he can go to a new home and is scheduled for his neuter in December. His fee is $150. Warren is a larger, strong boy who will require a bit of training. He seems pretty well mannered. We think he would do okay with other dogs of similar size. Cats? We have no idea. He should do well around older kids, too. He'll definitely require some regular brushing to keep his coat fabulous! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.resuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 12, 2024, 12:28 pm

Story
Pretty mellow dog, not spayed but up to date on shots as of 3/23/2024. Has been around young kids (2-7yo) and a cat. Loves the outdoors (walks, playing in water, and rope toys). Two different colored eyes. Born 11/30/2023. A bit of a jumpy girl, but understands not to jump on kiddos. When encountering other animals (such as other dogs or cats) on walks, she mostly will ignore them or look at you for direction, but squirrels she will try to give chase to if she sees or smells it. Crate/kennel trained, sleeps in there at night. Does have a bit of separation anxiety but thrives with her pack. Definitely could use some training in manners and leash manners, but does know commands such as sit lay down shake leave it and kennel. Very laid back for a husky mix, and really not vocal much. Looking for a home that can give her structure or a job to do, preferably with another large breed dog. Rehoming due to landlord dog breed policy change.

Name: Bailey Age: 7 years Gender: Female Breed: German Shepherd mix Weight: 84 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes Housetrained: yes Crate Trained: not needed and prefers to be left out  Energy level: Moderate Temperament: sweet, sidekick, loyal, intelligent Requirement: Not apartment appropriate  Adoption Fee: $275+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family: Bailey is a  marvelous dog who is also very smart, knows basic commands, and will even offer her paw for a friendly shake. She meshes well with our two dogs and has demonstrated that she's loyal, kind, and gentle. She walks politely on a leash, and quickly makes friends at the dog park too. Her backstory is sad because she was  rescued from a neighboring farm where she had been living in solute in a barn. When she first came to us, she was anxious and clingy from being left alone. She is now happy and healthy and loves others deeply. She currently is taking an allergy medication called Apoquel and doing well. She doesn’t need to be kenneled during the day or at night but would do well with someone home often.       November 5, 2024, 7:34 am

Story
Meet Snowball: Your Future Adventure Buddy! Introducing Snowball, an energetic and playful female husky puppy ready to fill your life with joy and excitement! At just 18 pounds, this little dynamo is bursting with personality and charm. Snowball is currently learning her way around the world-she's not fully kennel trained yet and is working on her potty training-but with your patience and love, she'll quickly blossom into the companion you've been dreaming of. This spirited girl loves to jump and play, which means she can be a bit mouthy at times. Because of her exuberance, we recommend a home without young children. However, with some consistent training, she will learn to channel her energy in positive ways! To help her grow into her best self, we strongly encourage puppy classes. These classes will not only aid in her training but also help her socialize and build confidence in a supportive environment. Snowball does enjoy her walks, though they're currently more about adventure than a leisurely pace! With a leash in hand, she's ready to explore the world around her. If you're looking for a loving companion who will keep you on your toes and fill your days with laughter, Snowball is the pup for you! With love, training, and plenty of adventures, she's sure to become a loyal friend. Adopt Snowball today and let the fun begin! Snowball is a very very high energy girl will require some training to channel that energy. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax
