Story
Gunner is a long-coat German Shepherd from a breeder in Germany. He is 10, and we adopted him when he was 1. While in Germany, he had a few months of Schutzhund training. We haven’t kept up with it recently, but he still recognizes some commands. He is current on all his vaccines and is house- and crate-trained. He is healthy and has no medical issues other than needing to lose some weight. I will provide his medical records. He has never bitten anyone, is not aggressive, and is very playful. He was raised next to my children and cats.

Story
Beautiful Nicky he has the happiest disposition a dog could have.  He just LOVES people.  He looks to the person walking him for guidance and reassurance.  He loves to go for a fun walk then come home and snuggle up with his human and get belly rubs.  He is SUPER smart and knows sit, wait, heel, and let's go.  He learns quickly and wants to please. He will quickly bond with his special human(s) and be easy to train.  Nicky is a mixed breed, probably with some Shepherd.  He isn't too large, a nice medium size.  He likes dogs but needs to be introduced properly to other dogs.  He is currently fostered and enjoys playing with his doggie sibling.  While he enjoys having a having a doggie friend we think he would also be fine as an only dog as long as he continues to get proper socialization.  He does have alot of energy so we think he would do best with a fenced yard.  He would be a great dog to take hiking or to play fetch in the back yard.  He LOVES to play with toys and will entertain himself pretty independently.  At his foster's he does very well in the crate at night and is housetrained.  Nicky had a hard early life - roaming the streets in South Carolina.  Happily he was found and taken to the shelter where he received great care.  During his wanderings he seems to have suffered an injury to his front leg, which luckily does not cause him pain.  Despite this tough beginning he still has faith that his special human will come along and give him the life he deserves. Nicky would make a great addition to any family.  Do you have room in your life for a sweet furry companion who just wants to be loved? Story
I welcomed Hiro into my life from a family who, sadly, had to move overseas and couldn’t take him along. Hiro is a spirited 6-year-old German Shepherd with boundless energy, a wonderful personality, and a truly kind heart. He thrives in an environment where he has plenty of space to explore and play. Ideally, Hiro’s new home would include a large, enclosed yard where he can run to his heart’s content. He’ll do best with an active and energetic companion who can match his zest for life and provide him with the love and attention he deserves.

Story
Sweet, loving little Bentley, a typical terrier! Loves to run and jump like a gazelle in the yard. He is a hunter, though, so be sure the yard has no visitors like chipmunks, groundhogs, rabbits, etc. before he runs free. Like all terriers, Bentley is active and quick-moving. However, he is also responsive to directions; in fact, Bentley is very sensitive and affectionate and is eager to please. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, he is terrified of men. We are working on this trust issue, but he will most likely be comfortable only in an all-female home. Bentley eats ravenously with a slow feeder dish, sleeps all night, and is completely housetrained. He rarely barks, is fine alone for a few hours, and is not destructive. What more could you ask for? Bentley is a real mix of breeds! His foster ran a DNA test on him and it came as 18% Chihuahua 16% Chow chow 11% Rottweiler 11% German Shepherd 10% Shih Tzu 6% Doberman Pinscher 5% American Cocker Spaniel All other small percentages: Lhasa Apso, Keeshond, American Eskimo, American Pit Bull Terrier, Yorkshire Terrier, Toy Poodle, Border Collie, Shetland Sheepdog, Standard Poodle! If you are seeking a loving little companion, who will enjoy the outdoors with you, and then snuggle up beside you, Bentley is your guy! Just like the high-class car that shares his name, he is a high-class boy! Sadly, she was turned in as a stray, even though she appears to have lived in a home before. She is very well mannered and her intelligence is impressive. She is smart, eager to learn and to please, and even knows some commands. Her social nature makes her a friend to all,  human and canine alike. In addition, May is house trained and will stay in a crate.  May is patiently waiting to bring joy and companionship to her forever home. Could it be yours? Why not submit an application today and change this beautiful girl's life for the better!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Stoic EJ is seeking a dedicated family to call his own. This ruggedly handsome fella was found as a very lost and sad stray. Poor guy was doing his best to survive but it was hard. Once he started to feel safe and loved, he began to engage with us, and we were so happy. EJ is a classic working breed dog. He needs a job and lots of brain challenging activities. He would thrive with folks that have breed experience. He also loves to eat yummy snacks, and he is a self-player; give him a tennis ball and he’s going to have a fun play session! He is so smart. If you have the time and energy for a magnificent, intelligent doggie, then you must meet EJ and take him home soon!

Story
Sugar and Spice and Everything nice..That is our Sugar Plum. This sweet girl has fosters laughing everyday. She is smart, playful and gentle. Even learning how to high five! BUT she does come with a warning according to her foster mom...You will accomplish nothing during your workday becaue she is really good at convincing you to snuggle on the couch!... She is fine is her crate, doing well with housetraining and walking on a leash. Foster mom says Sugar loves to run in the back yard and wants them to chase her. Her joy is contagious! She is a German Shepherd mix for sure with her smarts and floppy ears. Probably some lab in her too!. She is 22 pounds at 4 months now. With much love to give, this girl will make a wonderful addition to any family The adoption fee for this dog is $450 ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! Puppies require an adopter who is home a good part of the day to continue their training! They are up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Story
Jingle Belle is a girly girl, whose Shepherd head tilt will win your heart! You will just love her delightful puppy behavior. She is so eager to please her people and her fosters resident dog (although her eagerness might be a turn off to some older dogs) She wants to learn everything and is so smart! Encouragement and cookies help!. This Belle is still a Babe at 4 months and 18 pounds. Her German Shepherd part of her mix seems to be dominent with her coloring and floppy ears. What a lovely little girl and a perfect addition to a loving family The adoption fee for this dog is $450 ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help.
