Everyone meet Jose! Jose is a 3 year old male German Shepherd Mix. Jose has been in foster care for a while and is doing wonderfully and is ready for his forever home. Although it takes a little bit of time for him to warm up to his person, once he does he loves giving kisses and getting all the pets!Jose gets along well with other pups, but often likes to be the leader! Jose is a very good boy and has been started on basic commands such as sit, down, and heeling. He is pretty calm for his breed and enjoys relaxing and taking naps but also has a playful side to him. Jose listens very well, is trainable with good toy drive, and is always willing to work for food! He is also potty trained!Jose is currently in foster care outside of the shelter. Story
Meet Maia Gigi! Some call her just Maia, and others, just Gigi. Either way, she knows them all, and is hoping you’ll take her home! Maia is a young dog with a very active personality. Her favorite activities include running, running, and more running. She enjoys fetch, though she’s not the best at returning the ball. She enjoys chasing squirrels, frogs, and other outdoor critters. She also chases, and sometimes eats, bugs. Her prey drive can be intense, so small dogs, cats, and pocket pets are not recommended. She loves playing with toys, and her favorite thing to do is remove all of the stuffing. Sometimes she does try to eat it, but everyone has their flaws. She enjoys daily enrichment activities, such as puzzles and Kong toys. She is incredibly smart, and will need someone who is dedicated to keeping up her training. She can be mouthy, so she may not do well with young children.Maia would do best in a very active environment, where she can get the daily mental and physical stimuli that she requires.Although she enjoys time staying busy and being outside, at the end of the day you can often find her hogging the entire couch. Her foster mom says “she gets very attached to her person, and is a very loyal, good dog.”Maia Gigi is currently in foster care outside of the shelter. This easygoing nature makes her a wonderful candidate for a family or single dog owner. In the car, Mya shines, making every trip an enjoyable experience. On the leash, she has good manners with minimal pulling, so walks are a breeze. One thing to note about Mya: she prefers to keep her paws on the ground and isn’t a fan of being picked up. Story
Needed: adopter/rescue with XXL experience! Please read the whole post before commenting/calling... We currently have 2 very bonded VERY large German Shepherds (Hugo is likely a mix) in our care . Goliath (black and tan) and Hugo (brown) were found together at an apartment complex and never claimed. We've been trying to find rescue for them but have been unsuccessful this far. These boys are bonded. And we don't usually use that term but yes, they truly are. We need someone with the experience, time, and room to take on both these giants. Here's a little info.. Hugo is an 85# (and constantly gaining) German Shepard mix around 2 years old. Hugo tested negative for heart worms. Goliath also around 2 years old is 105# (and gaining) but tested positive for heart worms. These boys do not do well when separated. They need to go together. The perfect person for them will have experience with not just German Shepherds but also large dogs like these. Owning 1 let alone 2 big guys is not going to work for Everyone. The boys have passed their temp tests with other dogs and enjoy being around people but because of their size we do not recommend them for anyone with small children. Open to adoptions to the right home or rescue pull. Home check and fenced yard will be required for adopting so we can ensure these guy go to the perfect and secure home. They both have been neutered and are current on all vaccines! Give us a call at 225 686 7798 for more information on adopting! PLEASE SHARE!   October 24, 2024, 5:15 pm
