We rescued Winnie from the KY Humane Society thinking that she was an Anatolian Shepherd. She is 6 years old and the sweetest girl. She loves to cuddle and be loved, but she needs to be in a home without other dogs. She is very jealous when it comes to toys and attention. She will take any toys away from our other dog, even if she doesn't want to play with it, but he also doesn't take up for himself. She is not like this around food, but she is getting very aggressive with toys and attention. She is house trained perfectly and knows how to sit and lay down.

They tend to be a little more level headed like the German Shepherd and are not as overly active as the Malinois and they are easier to live with as a house pet. Mia came to us when her owner decided he was too busy to devote to her the time she deserved. She has completed her basic command and manner training in Camp K-9 at the Kentucky State Reformatory. Her inmate handler describes her as having medium energy. She enjoys walks, playtime with dogs and humans, and playing with her own toys. She is house trained and crate trained. She does alert at strangers sometimes. Mia has a clean bill of health and is up to date on vaccines and is on flea/tick and heart worm prevention. She is microchipped. LuLu -Paws Behind Bars Trained Lulu is German Shepherd mix, and as such, she is a smart, athletic, bundle of energy. Although she is a puppy, our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program is the perfect place to let her grow up. She quickly mastered her obedience training and is able to work on her social skills in all different kinds of situations. LuLu will do best in a home with an owner who has good dog experience, preferably with working breeds. We already see that If LuLu isn't "working, she is looking for puppy mischief. She will need plenty of physical AND mental exercise. At her age, she can be successfully introduced to other dog(s) in the home but we are recommending young male dogs. We do not think she's a good fit for small children or cats. Her home will need a fenced in yard. Most importantly, she needs an owner who will maintain her training and understand her high drive to please and "work". IMPORTANT: Please Keep in mind LuLu is under an year old with a life expectancy of 12 + years. Lilah is a very sweet and social girl who has clearly been well socialized in the past. She loves people and is really looking for "her" person to bond with. Lilah is eager to please, wicked smart, and a bit of a trickster. She may present as a unicorn amongst Mals - calm, social, and not toy motivated... but once you get to know her she is a typical chaos queen who wants to be involved in everything that is going on, views 5 miles as a warmup, and happily hunts any woodland creatures that may invade the yard. True to her breed Lilah has energy and prey drive to spare and is seeking a home that understands working breed dogs and is willing to give her appropriate outlets. Lilah is hit or miss with other dogs as she is a dominate queen-bee with a high drive. Lilah is Intense and few other dogs tolerate her level of wild in the play yard. She does well ignoring other dogs while out and about and has been able to adjust to a small playgroup with supervision. Lilah is NOT safe for a home with cats or other small animals. Lilah is a smart, loyal, and sweet girl who is looking for a home that will return the dedication she freely gives.
