Story
Nikko was acquired from the DeKalb Humane Society in ~ November 2026. He is about three years old and appears to be intelligent. However, he barks and growls at some adults - friends and relatives who visit our home. We have neighbors with small children and weekly visiting small grandchildren - we never have a good sense of confidence of how this dog will behave, though his aggressive behavior has been limited to growling and barking.

Story
Finn is a great dog. He is well behaved but also has energy to run around outside and go on long walks. He loves playing fetch as well. Finn does have EPI so he requires a powder that goes on his food. We are hoping to find someone who can give him more time and attention than we currently can.

Story
Prometheus is a brave little legend with a spark in his soul. Named after the titan who stole fire for mankind, this pup brings light, warmth, and just a tiny bit of chaos wherever he goes. He’s clever, curious, and always one step ahead — especially if treats are involved. Rules? He prefers to… reinterpret them for the greater good. With heroic zoomies and a heart full of devotion, Prometheus delivers joy like it’s a divine gift. A bringer of toys, igniter of playtime, and fearless explorer of forbidden corners, he proves that even the smallest titan can change the world — or at least set the living room ablaze with fun. 🔥🐾 The one thing we all can agree on is that puppies are adorable. They're ready to give you unconditional love and all the snuggles your heart can handle. We really want to make sure that you've thought beyond their undeniable cuteness. Puppies need structure and training. They only know what we teach them. When you adopt from Humane FW, you'll receive two group setting puppy training classes that will teach you basic puppy manners. This will give you and your new best friend a head start on bonding.

Story
We adopted Rex (6 yo) from Ft. Wayne Animal Care and Control, about 5 years ago. He's a good dog, very smart, very protective of all of us. He is a bit skiddish around strangers. We live in the country so he has had very little exposure to other animals. Our three children have all moved out of the house and my wife and I have unusual work schedules. It is difficult to give Rex the attention that he needs and so we need to rehome with someone that can provide that for him.

Story
Sheppe is a young German Shepherd, just under a year old, with a heart as big as her ears. This sweet girl is full of love and affection, but the world can still feel a little overwhelming for her at first. When meeting new people, she can be shy and unsure—but with a little patience, her loving personality really starts to shine.Sheppe was found as a stray in the county, and thankfully a kind finder took her in and brought her to safety. Despite her rough start, it’s clear she has so much love to give and truly wants to trust—she just needs a gentle, understanding home to help her feel secure. She is mostly housebroken and has done very well adjusting to a routine. She enjoys the company of other dogs and seems to gain confidence from having a canine friend around. On a leash, she can be a bit nervous at first, but she is learning quickly and improving every day—she’s a smart girl who wants to do well.Sheppe is the kind of dog who will form a deep, loyal bond with her person. With time, reassurance, and kindness, she’s going to blossom into an incredible companion. She may start off a little shy, but once she feels safe, her sweet and loving nature truly comes through. If you’re looking for a gentle, devoted dog to grow with, Sheppe could be the perfect fit.An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00
