Story
Penelope!   DOB: 10/2018   Weight: 60lbs Found by a good samaritan and never reclaimed, Penelope is now ready to find a home of her own. She's a husky/shepherd mix, as many can probably tell by the pictures. We're thinking her to be around 5 years old. She's a charming canine, full of personality, and a little bit of attitude . Always wants her head rubbed, but when it's walk time and you're too caught up in something else she'll start whining at you to get going. Penelope has been fine with dogs here and enjoys the company of people. Will sit for a treat, and does walk decent on the leash once she's calmed down. Penelope would make a great addition to any home seeking a loyal, loving, and lively companion... so long as they don't mind a little hair of course. Her adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you'll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting her please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook.***YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BEFORE WE DO ANY MEET AND GREETS. QUESTIONS? Story
Storm!     DOB: 8/2019   Weight: should be around 85lbs  Met with adopter  will pick up for trial 12/14 Storm is gorgeous German Shepherd/Husky mix. Very tall, really thick hair. He came in with two other dogs as part of a neglect case. Here at the shelter Storm is quiet and tends to keep to himself. That is until our dog walks wrap up, then he sends up some howls. He’s pretty well mannered. He enjoys going for walks and when he comes back he usually heads to his barrel at the end of his kennel run to just observe everything else. He’s interested in cats, but no growling or snapping. He’d need to live with a more chill cat if any. Storm has lived with other dogs and does ok with the dogs here with a proper introduction. He previously lived with little kids too and did great with them. Storm is very flighty and wary of new people, so you can’t just run up and pet him. You have to introduce yourself slowly. Once he warms up he’s a total doll! He’s believed to be house trained as he grew up in a house.  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. Story
I adopted Daisy in February 2023. She was staying with a foster. There were other dogs there. The foster mentioned she didn’t interact with them much. I guess she thought that was due to her being a rescue. It was a very important question as we had smaller old dogs at home and with extended family members. The foster did take her to a local pet sitting facility. EVERY human loves Daisy and I haven’t met one she doesn’t like. She is not a great fan of other dogs. We have tried everything but she will not acclimate to our family animals. She also has separation anxiety. We have followed the vet’s instructions, tried all sort of things on the market and yet nothing has worked. I work full time so I have no choice but to board her when I have to be away from her. She great when you are with her. Laid back, not playful nor food driven. She has had some training. She ignores come. She is big and strong so she need a person who can manage her.

Story
Hey there, I'm Pepper, and I'm ready to find my forever home! Let me tell you a little bit more about myself. I'm a proud member of the 'Buddy' program here. What that means is I have a volunteer as my BFF who walks me though the week. These regular walks has really helped a lot with my leash manners and basic training! I'm a smart guy who could pick up right away on a regular schedule and settle in a new environment quickly. These regular outings have made it so easy to meet new people! I'm a playful, social pup who loves nothing more than romping around and having a good time. I'm a busy bee who absolutely adores rope toys - they're my favorite! I absolutely love being brushed - it's not only great for keeping my coat looking sleek, but it's also a wonderful way for us to bond. I'm also a big fan of car rides - there's nothing quite like feeling the wind in my fur as we cruise down the road together. And let me tell you, I'm one smart cookie! I love learning new tricks and tasks, and I'm always eager to show off my skills. A smart guy like me can get bored easy, so I'd do great in a home that can work with met o learn some fun new tricks! I would do well with a crate, or puzzle toys when left alone at home to keep me occupied. I know I can be the perfect companion for the right family. If you're ready to welcome a smart, goofy, and lovable pup into your life, then look no further - I'm right here waiting for you!

Story
Hi there! My name is Bayonet, and I’m a 3-year-old male German Shepherd. I came to the shelter as a stray, so my past is a bit of a mystery, but that doesn’t stop me from looking ahead with hope! The folks here don’t know much about where I’ve been, but they’ve quickly discovered that I’m a really sweet guy with a big heart. I’m ready for my forever home—a place where I can feel safe, loved, and be the loyal companion I was born to be. If you’re looking for a friend who’s as strong as I am sweet, I could be the perfect fit for your family!Fill out an adoption application online at: https://www.hshcky.org/

Story
Hi, I’m Zeus! I’m a 3-year-old shepherd mix, and I’ve been through a bit of a rough patch. My owner had to move and left me and my sister behind. She got rescued pretty quickly, but I was scared, so I ran and hid for a couple of weeks. Eventually, some really kind animal control officers found me and brought me to safety. Now, I’m at the shelter getting regular meals, which is great, but what I really want is a home where I’ll be loved, cared for, and never abandoned again. Could that be with you?Fill out an adoption application online at: https://www.hshcky.org/
