Story
Meet Nero, a magnificent 2.5 year-old male German Shepherd in search of his forever home. This handsome boy, a purebred from the Czech Republic, boasts a striking  black coat that gleams in the sunlight. Nero is a large, powerful dog in his prime, with a heart to match his impressive stature, eager to find a family he can shower with love and protection. At his young adult age, Nero has the perfect blend of youthful energy and emerging maturity. His personality is a delightful mix of sweetness and playfulness, typical of a shepherd entering his prime years. He thrives on human companionship, always eager to be by your side and partake in family activities. His affectionate nature truly shines once he's comfortable, rewarding his chosen person with unwavering loyalty and a breathtaking smile that will melt your heart. Nero isn't shy about expressing himself either – expect some endearing whines and vocalizations as he communicates his love for you. While Nero likes other dogs, he can be a bit selective on their personalities. He could do well in a home with another dog if they're compatible. He should not be with cats, though.   Despite his young age, Nero has already mastered some important skills that will make his transition to a new home smoother. He's crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is even muzzle-trained for situations that might require it.  Nero needs an experienced owner who understands the breed and can provide consistent training and guidance.  He has the protective instincts of a typical German Shepherd, and potential adopters should be willing to work with a reactive dog.  Nero needs a patient owner who can help him navigate new experiences and continue his training to ensure he becomes the best version of himself. The ideal home for Nero would be with adults only, preferably with previous German Shepherd experience. He needs a family who understands his need for mental and physical stimulation, as well as his protective nature.  If you're ready to welcome a loyal, loving companion into your life and are prepared for the responsibility of owning a large, intelligent breed in his prime years, Nero might be the perfect match for you. Are you ready to give this handsome boy the loving forever home he deserves and grow together for years to come? Story
Hello! My name is Chance. I am one of twelve puppies from the same litter. My fur is short, soft, and brown/black in color. I have really long legs and a very muscular body (that probably helps me run so fast when I play with my brothers). They say that I am about 6-1/2 weeks old, so I am still growing. I have really big paws (or so I hear everyone say) so I think I am going to be a pretty big dog. I have a good appetite - so I think that will help me grow too. I think I stand out because of my name and character. The definition of chance is `the possibility of something happening`...which is what I am all about! I tend to be the leader of my litter and I make things happen - especially when it comes time to play! I am the one who gets everyone to join in on the fun of a wrestling match or a quick chase around the Adoption Center. I am very active but I also like to engage in some gentle play with my brother Dexter. We like to lay on our backs on the couch and touch paws with one another in the air. It`s pretty entertaining for us and it makes the humans laugh a lot.l love playing with my siblings but I am also very independent and curious. I am always looking around the Adoption Center discovering new things. Last week, I learned how to go down the slide at the Adoption Center - it was so much fun! I was pretty good at it because of my long body. I love to play with squeaky toys and stuffed toys too. I am `teething` right now so the humans will give me little teething bones - which I love. They keep me busy and it feels so good to chew on them. I hear that I am a `very handsome boy` all the time. I love how everyone picks me up and says that to me (it makes me feel so special). I am a very good boy when it comes time to eat. I don`t gobble my food and I don`t fight with my brothers for food. Sometimes I eat a little...go rest...and come back and eat a little more. I love to eat, play with my brothers and be with humans. I would love to have a furever home of my own...give me the chance be an awesome addition to a loving family.Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Meet Primrose, a two-month-old sweetheart with a soft black coat and touches of white and brown on her chest and paws. Weighing under 25 pounds, she’s one of twelve siblings, likely with some Labrador and German Shepherd in her mix. Her name, inspired by *The Hunger Games* and the flower symbolizing “new beginnings,” perfectly reflects her gentle and loving nature. Full of playful energy, Primrose adores anything that squeaks or she can chew. Like any puppy, she’s still learning what’s okay to nibble on, but she’s easily redirected to her toys. Potty training is going well—she quickly does her business outside when given the chance, though she’s still working on crate training and prefers to be near people for comfort. Primrose is a social butterfly who loves dogs of all sizes, especially playful ones who match her energy. She may be hyper at times, but she’s all love—never aggressive, just enthusiastic. With her affectionate heart and eagerness to learn, Primrose is ready to blossom in a forever home that will guide her with patience and love. Could that be you? 🌸🐾 Interested in adopting this dog? Story
Kiwi is an absolute darling girl! During her time in foster care this girl was a fast favorite among our Illinois volunteer team (must be those stunning eyes!) and always soaked up the attention at our events. She sadly is being returned to our rescue after what she thought was her forever. This girl is just a big puppy and has a lot of energy. She would really love an active family who can keep up with her or a big fenced in yard she can run all those zoomies out in! After play time, she loves to snuggle, lay on comfy furniture ,and gobble up all the treats she can find! This spunky girl is crate and potty trained! Kiwi LOVES dogs, cats, and people of all ages. She is so gentle with kids and has the sweetest personality. She loves to be outside! Ready to open your heart and home to Miss Kiwi?! Fill out an application on our website https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ or find us on FB! Kiwi is currently being fostered in the Algonquin, IL area and would love to meet you at a private meet and greet when you have an approved application!

Story
Male - 5 years - 40 lbs - Microchipped - Neutered - NYHi, I’m Ricardo. I’m a 5-year-old, 40 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I use my crate as a safe space mostly; I do not need to be shut in my crate when I am left home alone. I have coexisted well with adults, with a preference for women, though I am very shy and don’t seek much interaction. I will accept calm affection from my foster mom. Most of the time I am happy to people watch from afar. I will need someone willing to be patient as I come around to them and my surroundings in my new home; I had had no or minimal human contact prior to coming to Echo Dogs so this human world is all new to me and I have been trying hard to learn! I love having the company of other dogs and will require at least one confident canine companion to help guide me. I am wonderful about adjusting my play style to match that of the dog I am playing with and all around have good canine social skills. I am also gentle around cats and wouldn’t mind having feline siblings. I have been learning about these things called toys and they’re pretty fun! I especially like the plushy toys and benebones. I have been working hard on leash skills and can now join on quiet outings! I may get nervous at times and need gentle encouragement. I am still pretty uncomfortable with car rides so that is also a work in progress. I have learned to reliably come to my foster mom when she calls me. I currently take clomicalm to help me manage my anxiety. I am a gentle-natured boy who is ready to find a patient human ready to help me continue navigating this human world—could you be my human(s)? Follow me on Facebook:  #EchoDogRicardo For more information, please contact adoptions@echodogs.org.   Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states. Visit www.echodogs.org/available-dogs to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog IS available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $350. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
