Story
Meet King, a 2-year-old German Shepherd with a heart as big as his 87-pound frame. This loyal, loving pup is house-trained, crate-savvy, and ready to bring joy to the right home. King’s favorite activities include playing in the yard, going on walks and hikes, spending time with his people, and having fun with his doggy pals. King has made incredible progress during his time in foster care. Once fearful and avoidant of new people, he now confidently visits breweries, farmers’ markets, and other bustling places with his foster mom. He’s even been known to approach new people for pets! King has also worked hard on his reactivity toward other dogs. While leashed greetings can still be a challenge, he thrives in off-leash settings and loves making new friends. He’s done well with a variety of dogs in his foster home and would do best with either a playful companion or a dog that sets firm boundaries—he’s a bit of a persistent playmate! King would love an adopter who enjoys hiking as much as he does. Weekly hiking adventures are his favorite, especially when he gets to splash in water and romp with his dog friends. At home, King is a relaxed companion. While he used to react to the TV, his foster mom has helped him overcome this, and he now enjoys snuggling on the couch during movie nights. Occasionally, he may react to a dog on TV, but it’s rare these days. King is best suited for a home with children aged 5 and older. Though he was a bit of a cat chaser in the past, he’s made great strides with the cats in his foster home and has developed a solid "leave it" command. He would likely do well with a laid-back cat that respects his space. While King would love to have a doggy playmate, it’s not a requirement. This smart, sweet boy is looking for a patient and loving forever home where he can continue to thrive. To help him settle in, his foster mom is offering free training sessions to his adopter. With her support and your love, King is sure to blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. If you’re ready to meet this special boy and give him the home he deserves, King is ready to meet you! His minimum adoption fee is $150, plus a $15 fee for rabies registration for McLean County residents (if 4 months or older). Wish Bone Canine Rescue  1303 Morrissey Drive Bloomington, IL 61701 www.wishbonecaninerescue.org           Since its our desire that you have a pet you can enjoy a lifetime of love with you, we take special measures to ensure that the pet is the best match for you and your family.  We require that you complete our online www.wishbonecaninerescue.org (Please give us 24 hours to verify your information). Story
Sue has not had an easy life. She is scared and shy at first and needs a patient adopter to make her feel safe. While she does get along to some degree with other dogs, she does have some resource guarding with food so her best fit would be a home where she is an only dog. She can peacefully co-exist with other dogs in an environment where there are no toys and dogs are fed separately and the dishes are picked up after feeding. Because of her shy nature and a family`s need to read her body language, Sue needs a home with children 10+. Sue appears to be potty trained. Most likely no cats unless an adopter is prepared for extremely slow intros.Adoption Fee: $ 75Estimated Date of Birth: UnknownIntake Reason: transfer from out-of-state agencyAnimal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. If their kennel card on display at TAPS shelter facility is marked as unaltered, the animal will be altered prior to being released for adoption. Animal stage may change from time to time based on surgery and medical status. TAPS strives to keep kennel cards as up to date as possible with current information but from time to time, information may change and a new kennel card may be pending. Full and current vaccination schedule and medical records along with any behavioral disclosures will be provided at time of adoption.
