Story
Meet Drako! Drako is a 5 year old male German Shepherd who was brought to us as an owner surrender when his owner could no longer care for him. A relative who planned to house him could not keep him as the two male dogs in the home didn't get along. Drako is a BIG boy at around 120 lbs. He enjoys playing with toys (his favorite phrase is "go get your toys!") and he brings them in and out with him from his kennel. This guy is a big baby and he loves people. He would likely not do well with other dogs in the home though, based on the previous history and dog tests here in the building. His wish for the holidays is to find his forever home, where he can be the center of attention and spoiled rotten. German Shepherd experience is highly recommended. If you are interested in adopting sweet Drako, please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov OR stop by during our open business hours to meet him.

Story
Theo is extremely smart and active. He really needs an owner that is experienced with the working line dog breeds. We did a DNA test on him and these two breeds were highest percentage. In training, he has done very well. Before the GSD came in his DNA test, we would describe his disposition as more Malinois. If you love that working line dog, he would excel in agility and scentwork. He loves to train and do drill work. Theo would do very well in a home with a confident female dog. He plays and follows the lead of a female dog in his training program. Seems to push back more with a male dog playmate. No cats at this time, but he is getting worked around cats to "leave it" . Story
Sadie was born August 13, 2021. I got her from a breeder at 3 months old. Sadie is a great family dog that enjoys spending her time with the family. She loves kids and plays with other dogs. Very socially friendly. Supervision is needed with smaller dogs because of a German Shepherd’s natural prey drive. Sadie is very smart and exercise and plenty of training helps stimulate her mind. She loves treats, and is very trainable with food. I would lover her new home to be with someone that enjoys teaching/training, will maintain a rhythm for her, a loving family, fenced in backyard would be nice, kids of any age. Sadie is crate trained, knows basic commands including stay and going to bed. She loves and craves attention. Will follow you everywhere. She’s fine alone.

Story
Meet Belize, the Brave Forest Explorer!  Belize isn’t just a dog—he’s a survivor with a heart as big as the great outdoors! This 4-year-old German Shepherd mix was rescued by a brave firefighter just as a forest fire was closing in, and he’s ready to start a new chapter full of love, safety, and adventure.  Belize is a nature enthusiast who adores sniffing around, exploring trails, and making new friends (he came to the shelter with a canine buddy and would love a dog sibling!). He's got a gentle, affectionate soul and a strong, resilient spirit that’s looking for a loving home. Want to be Belize’s hero? Call 630-256-3630 or visit him at 600 S River St, Aurora, IL 60506! December 26, 2024, 10:44 am
