Story
Beatrice (or Bea) is very sweet. She likes bananas, chicken, playing outside, running and jumping. She can be very shy but will warm up to strangers eventually. She is very intelligent, able to learn fairly easily and uses a button to request to go outside and to request water. She needs a home with a more active lifestyle and/or more free time. I have a very busy schedule and another dog, sadly I’m not able to give her the attention she needs. She also needs a home with no other dogs or animals as she is food aggressive (with dogs not people) and a home with a high fence or long tether if possible. She is very athletic and can jump up to 4.5 feet so she would be great for any type of sporting or working role. She is scared of dog parks but has had some success at the daycare I used to take her to, Dogtopia. She comes with all supplies needed for taking care of her.

Story
Max is a 1-2 year old very handsome German Shepherd. Coming to us as a stray in July, he is fun, very sweet and loving. He just now learning some manners and obedience. He enjoys bacon treats and thinks he is a lap dog. Max will be such a wonderful family dog with a little training, patience, love and structure. He could be great with other dogs--a meet and greet with your dog(s) will tell for sure. (However, no cats for this boy. Too much prey drive!) He may be energetic at first but he does settle down nicely and then will give you very sweet kisses. If you are looking for a playful, silly and loyal GSD, Max will be worth your time and attention! ........ We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Story
Meet Raven, a spirited 1-year-old German Shepherd who was found as a stray on 9/24/24. This energetic pup is looking for a home with German Shepherd experience, where she can get the exercise and mental stimulation she needs.Initially, Raven was quite high-energy, jumping up to greet us. But after a quick potty break, she calmed down. She absolutely loves playing with balls and does pretty well on a leash. When she spotted Goldie on the other side of the fence, she had her hackles up but was otherwise relaxed, even helicopter tailing. They soon started running the fence together, showing her playful side.Raven also met Bryan and immediately tried to engage him in play.Raven would thrive in a home with other playful dogs. When introduced to a cat, Raven was curious but cautious. After a cat hissed and charged at her, she quickly retreated, indicating she may do well with cats given proper introductions.Due to her size and tendency to jump, Raven would be best suited for a home with older kids. Come meet her!

Story
Meet Gia, a stunning 3-year-old White German Shepherd with a heart as pure as her snowy coat. Gia was found wandering as a stray in St. Paul on 9/27/24, and she`s been looking for a loving, patient home ever since.Gia is a bit of a nervous Nellie, especially around new people and men. Her kennel doesn`t do her justice, so please don`t judge her based on her behavior there. She`s a sensitive soul who needs time and gentle encouragement to come out of her shell.Gia is best suited for an adult-only family experienced with German Shepherds. She thrives in a calm, understanding environment where she can feel safe and secure. Once Gia feels comfortable, she walks beautifully on a leash and loves to explore her surroundings at her own pace. She`s a curious girl who enjoys investigating new things, but always on her terms.Gia is looking for a special home where she can build trust and blossom into the confident, loving companion she was meant to be. Could you be the patient, experienced family that Gia needs?Gia has a sweet disposition and a big heart. She’s a spirited girl who loves to be active! Whether it’s going for a long walk or chasing a ball, she’s in her element when she’s on the move.Gia is smart and learns quickly. She’ll thrive with someone who enjoys working with her and can keep up with her playful spirit. Gia walks well on the leash and even stops and sits when you stop walking. She already knows commands like `sit,` `down,` and `paw, While she enjoys meeting new people, Gia needs slow introductions to new dogs and can be reactive on the leash, so patience is key. Gia is potty trained and has not had any accidents in the house.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook!
