Story
Penelope!   DOB: 10/2018   Weight: 60lbs Found by a good samaritan and never reclaimed, Penelope is now ready to find a home of her own. She's a husky/shepherd mix, as many can probably tell by the pictures. We're thinking her to be around 5 years old. She's a charming canine, full of personality, and a little bit of attitude . Always wants her head rubbed, but when it's walk time and you're too caught up in something else she'll start whining at you to get going. Penelope has been fine with dogs here and enjoys the company of people. Will sit for a treat, and does walk decent on the leash once she's calmed down. Penelope would make a great addition to any home seeking a loyal, loving, and lively companion... so long as they don't mind a little hair of course. Her adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you'll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting her please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook.***YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BEFORE WE DO ANY MEET AND GREETS. QUESTIONS? CONTACT pcpoundpuppies1@gmail.com Our standard adoption fee is $175 ($250 for puppies 6 months and under, or small dogs 20lbs or below) which covers a portion of the dog's vetting costs. Story
Storm!     DOB: 8/2019   Weight: should be around 85lbs  Met with adopter  will pick up for trial 12/14 Storm is gorgeous German Shepherd/Husky mix. Very tall, really thick hair. He came in with two other dogs as part of a neglect case. Here at the shelter Storm is quiet and tends to keep to himself. That is until our dog walks wrap up, then he sends up some howls. He’s pretty well mannered. He enjoys going for walks and when he comes back he usually heads to his barrel at the end of his kennel run to just observe everything else. He’s interested in cats, but no growling or snapping. He’d need to live with a more chill cat if any. Storm has lived with other dogs and does ok with the dogs here with a proper introduction. He previously lived with little kids too and did great with them. Storm is very flighty and wary of new people, so you can’t just run up and pet him. You have to introduce yourself slowly. Once he warms up he’s a total doll! He’s believed to be house trained as he grew up in a house.  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. Story
Bandit is a great dog looking for a great home! He was picked up as a stray and was never claimed. He is a german shepherd mix and boy oh boy you can tell! He has the iconic gsd whine and he is smart as a tack! If you're looking for a dog that would never be too old to teach tricks than this is your guy! He would do great in a more energetic home and a home that has knowledge of the breed. He is always ready to go for adventures but does need a little help with leash manners. He already knows how to play fetch, sit, lay down, shake, drop it and he is completely house and kennel trained! He is not a jumper or climber of fences but with a typical gsd's prey drive we would highly recommend a fence or barrier of some kind. He seems to do well with pretty much all dogs big or small but he absolutely loves small dogs or puppies the most! He is also totally fine with house cats as long as they're not wild and running around all the time. He does not beg at the table when you're eating but he LOVES to lay by the stove when you're cooking just to be close to you. He is also VERY protective of his people so you will know every time someone pulls into the driveway. Once he meets a person one time and knows it's okay for them to be there then he remembers it forever! His adoption fee is $275 and this will include his neuter, 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come meet this outstanding boy! Thank you! Story
Don't let this girls age fool you, she's still a young pup at heart! She came into UCAC as a stray and nobody claimed this pretty girl. She was starved, injured and her paw pads were raw and peeling from travelling. She has made a complete turn around and is a whole new doggo now that's ready for her new home! She is such a great dog and would make someone a wonderful companion. She has great recall, loves to be with her people and most importantly LOVES to rough house with any 4 legged friend that will let her! She would love to be an adventure buddy with someone since she adores car rides and going for walks. She is also a quiet girl and is just as content laying on a blanket or bed (which is her favorite thing in the world) and watching a movie in the peace and quiet. She is also a very tidy girl here with us so we definitely think she is house trained! She will however need kenneled when left alone in the house. Just like a typical german shepherd, she gets pretty antsy when her people leave her. She is also fantastic inside a fence! No jumping, climbing or digging which is a HUGE plus! Her adoption fee is $275 and this will include her spay (after a vet deems her a good candidate for it!), 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come meet her! Thank you! Story
Who want's their very own Grim Reaper for the spooky season?! Mr. Grim came to us as a starved, neglected, stray who was never claimed. He has put on tremendous amounts of weight and is finally healthy enough to start looking for his furever family! Since he appears to be a shepherd mix you can bet he is going to be one HUGE boy once he's completely up to weight! He has been the most happy guy since coming to us! When he was picked up he was pitiful looking and looked like he had given up on life. Now he is eager to see everybody, loves playtime with the other dogs and is full of life and energy! We think he is around 6 years old, give or take but he has the personality of a very large puppy! Whoever gets to take this amazing dog home has to promise us they won't tell him he's too big for their lap since that's the only place he wants to be! He is well mannered and doesn't get too rambunctious. He does well on a leash but would still benefit from some extra training in that department. He knows how to sit and shake and he is smart enough to know not to potty in his kennel which would make transitioning to a home a breeze! He does well with all the doggos here at the shelter. He does prefer submissive males over dominant ones but he obviously loves all the ladies! He is not a fan of cats since he thinks its a huge game of chase with them. He would do great with some older kids to play with! He is not a fence climber, jumper or digger either plus he has great recall! His adoption fee is $275 and this will include his neuter, DAPPV vaccine, 1 year Rabies vaccine and a microchip. Please call 618-833-4915 to come meet him! Thank you!
