3-Year-Old Male German Shepherd- Seeking an experienced, committed owner with a fenced yard. We must re-home him due to a lack of time and space. Great Companion: Excellent with People and Dogs- Grew up with kids, is reliable and gentle. Lived harmoniously with 3 other dogs, this past year. Playful dog. Loyal and Loving- Very affectionate with his family; can be pet while eating. Fully Trained- Potty trained and crate trained. Needs: Experienced Handling Preferred- He is naturally territorial and initially wary of strangers, but he quickly warms up and becomes friendly after a short time. Space- Due to his high energy a home with a secure yard for exercise, would be ideal. He is a smart, loving and loyal dog who needs a structured and active home to thrive.

Story
Meet Cooper! He was being fostered, and the family decided it wasn't a good fit and returned Cooper on 1/7. They did mention that Cooper seems house-trained, good with older children, and good with other dogs. He doesn't seem to know his size, so he would be best in a home with older more dog-savvy kids. Cooper is now keeping his paws crossed for a new, forever home where he will be loved and kept safe so that he never ends up back in the shelter. The volunteers describe Cooper as sweet and loving. He is quiet in his kennel and sits nicely for treats. He is a very handsome boy with a super soft coat. Cooper is approximately 5 years old, and weighs 86 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and he has been neutered and microchipped. Unfortunately, Cooper did test positive for heartworms, but with proper treatment and care he can go on to live a long and healthy life. Please speak with shelter staff about the option of fostering to adopt while he receives treatment. Cooper is waiting patiently in kennel 873; his ID # is 15391. Story
This lovely GSD is Nelly! She arrived at the shelter as a lost girl on 1/4, and no one has come to reclaim her. We're surprised no one is missing Nelly; she sure is a nice dog! The volunteers describe her as friendly and attentive. She walks great on leash and sits nicely for treats. If you're looking for a mature dog without the crazy puppy antics, please come meet Nelly. Nelly is approximately 9 years old, and weighs 63 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, and she will be spayed and microchipped upon adoption. Unfortunately, Nelly did test positive for heartworms, but with proper treatment and care she can go on to live a long and healthy life. Please speak with shelter staff about the option of fostering to adopt while she receives treatment. Nelly is waiting patiently in kennel 76; her ID # is 16153. Story
Ritz arrived at the shelter in June of 2025 as a precious 6 month old German shepherd mix puppy who had been thrown from a moving vehicle. Luckily he was not injured and he didn’t let this dampen his sweet personality. Ritz was quickly adopted and but was returned to the shelter six months later by his family. Volunteers can't understand how they could give him up, but young dogs require a lot of attention and exercise and perhaps the family was too busy. Ritz is playful and knows how to sit, and he's eager to learn and be a good companion. He is up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, and already neutered and microchipped. Come meet this sweet boy in kennel 833, his ID is 10114. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers.
