Story
**EXTREMELY URGENT: MUST FIND PLACEMENT BY SEPTEMBER 30th** Jeffery is a 7-year-old, 78 lb, German Shepard looking for his forever family.  Jeffery is low energy and would love a family who will understand him and be willing to work with him while transitioning into an indoor dog life, he has lived his entire life outside in a pen. While he is a little anxious being out of his pen and in the world, he has shown no reactivity and just needs patience. Due to the limited history it is unknown if he is good around cats, dogs, or kids. In order to set him up for success, an experienced home with no kids or pets that is dedicated to helping him learn to socialize is needed. We would NOT be interested in placing Jeffrey in another outdoor living situation - at his age and with the weather in Florida, he deserves a roof over his head. We would be open to placement in a "shop dog" type scenario if he had a climate controlled shop/garage or barn to relax in and escape the elements.  Adoption requirements are as such: No other pets  No kids under 16 due to limited history Experience with undersocialzied/anxious pups Not a first time dog owner No apts/condos Experience with large dogs   Jeffrey has to find his new forever home because his owner passed away and he's currently being cared for by his owner's grandson. Please note, Jeffrey is part of Happy Trails Animal Rescue’s rehoming program. Information provided is based on their current guardian’s statements and limited interaction with volunteers. They are not under the care of the rescue. They are under the care of their current guardian. The owner is subject to placement outside of our organization. We cannot guarantee availability. Adoption fee WAIVED to an experienced home. ##1656808##

Story
Alpha is a beautiful two year old German Shepherd, registered with AKC PAL. A typical shepherd, she can be initially aloof with new people but is very friendly and loves to snuggle as soon as she has sniffed you a bit. She is housebroken and well behaved at home, and loves snuggling up for some TV time after training sessions. Alpha is fully crate trained but enjoys the freedom of being out all day. Her favorite thing in the whole wide world is her tennis ball. She thrives in an energetic environment and enjoys obedience training, and may be too active for younger children, but a wonderful addition to a home with children aged 12 and up. She does get along with male dogs but she can be bossy and has struggled previously to share her home with another bossy female dog. She does respond well to corrections, though she can be a bit pushy at times. She would do great as an only dog with her person and her ball, but could also do well with another dog with the right personality (preferably a male medium-large dog).  PLEASE NOTE: MUST be a home owner to adopt Alpha, no renters. Adoption fee $150, spayed and current on vaccines. Alpha is one of three 2 year old female German Shepherds from the same litter. We are looking for adopters for all three sisters, who must be placed separately from one another.  ##2107688##

Story
Mia is a 2 year old pure bred German Shepherd dog. She is a little shy and aloof when meeting new people but is not reactive and is calm, gentle and submissive. She is housebroken and excels at recall, sitting, and staying on command. Mia struggles with anxiety and is anxious during car rides. She also has some separation anxiety and can be mildly destructive in the house when left alone, she loves her chew toys and does well when given something appropriate to occupy her when alone. She thrives on routine, with a set potty schedule and bedtime, and is looking for a patient, experienced shepherd adopter. She must be the only pet in the home. Older children okay. PLEASE NOTE: MUST be a home owner to adopt Mia, no renters. Adoption fee $150, Mia is spayed and current on vaccines. ##2138069##

9-Year old Loving dog, he has a sweet nature, not to keen on toys 😊. Loves attention, and rubs. Does not like cars! He will bark when a car passes by him. Lazy nature. Does not focus on other dogs when being walked. In the home, not a barker, not even when someone is at the door; just a quiet nature, loving mature dog.

Story
Sasha is being fostered in PA. Sasha needs to be an only dog. She does not like active dogs Sasha can ONLY be adopted to a home with older children or all adults. Sasha is NOT good with cats. Sasha is spayed. Christmas time is here, soon a new year will dawn, and I’m still patiently waiting for my furever home and that special family to give me lots of love and belly rubs. I enjoy walks and will do OK without a fenced yard if you take me out on walking adventures. If you have a fenced yard I will run and play with you. I just enjoy the company of peeps. I don’t care to be with other dogs, just be by myself with my humans. I am a good girl in the house…unless you leave tasty morsels of food on the counter. Then I may just have to help myself! I know Sit, Down, am learning Wait, but I don’t really want to wait, hee hee. I also do pretty well on a leash. I’m still working on some other things like no jumping up on my peeps. I just want to greet and say Hi and give kisses and hugs to my peeps. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Meet Max! This handsome boy may be big but he is a huge lover. Max was pulled from the local shelter just hours before he was put to sleep. The shelter thought he had a foreign body, but turns out he had pneumonia. Though his story starts off sad we are hoping the rest of his years makes up for it. He has been being spoiled in foster care and is now ready for his new home! Max is about two years old and gets along with other dogs. No cats for Max, he's too playful  Max has had basic training and has done wonderful. If interested email handjkittenrescue@gmail.com ##2094841##

Story
Orlando, Florida. Due to work travel and finances, I must give up my German Shepherd Artemis. My late wife adopted her from a shelter, and we have provided what we can. She is three years old, has some training (recall, come, shake, sit, lay down, kiss, some heel), spayed, all her vaccinations. No resource guarding, microchipped. She is a very good guard dog at home and is very wary of others. She does socialize with other dogs and is well behaved when we go to the groomers, vet, kennel. After she got into a fight with a neighbor’s dog who ran into my yard, I muzzle her when I walk her to prevent it. She has bitten two people who came into the house that she does not know (I was not there). I must travel for work now two to three weeks a month on the other side of the US. The kennel costs are getting to be too much for me, and I think it’s unfair I am away for so much time out of the month. The German Shepherd rescues I’ve contacted around me haven't been returning my calls

Story
Hi there! I'm Oakley, a 9-month-old mix of German Shepherd and Husky with the sweetest brown eyes you'll ever see. I’m house trained and crate trained. I absolutely love playing with other dogs and I'm super friendly. Walks are an adventure for me, and although I start with a lot of energy, I find my rhythm and enjoy the journey. I'm also very vocal and love to keep you entertained with my chatter. Kids are wonderful, and I have a big personality that shines through in everything I do. I adore cuddling with my human and bringing joy to their life. My enthusiasm is infectious, and I have a special knack for making people laugh. Let's keep working on my training together, and I'll continue being the lovable, energetic, and talkative pup that I am! The adoption fee is $375, which includes:

Story
Cooper is a two year old Belgian Malinois/Pit bull mix. He is looking for a very special home. He is a very, very intelligent dog - but this results in him being an overthinker. He overanalyzes people's body language and can be too sensitive and picky with new people. Cooper isn't reactive to all strangers, he isn't even reactive to most strangers - but, if he loves you, he loves you and if he hates you, he doesn't tend to ever warm up to you. Cooper was adopted from animal control over a year ago and his owners brought him in to receive help from our training program because his new Dad is one of the people he decided he just doesn't like/trust. Despite hard work from his family for a year, he still does not like Dad. He has met many strangers during that year - including both male and female trainers at our center - and he does well with most new people, it is a very select few people that he can become defensive with. He is already muzzle conditioned and has excelled in his training and basic obedience and is not difficult to safely manage when out in public - he isn't reactive to anyone that is not directly trying to touch him and even then, it is only some people. He is looking for an experienced handler - prior experience with a stranger reactive dog would be ideal, but we will provide training support to an experienced handler willing to learn. He currently lives with another dog and does very well, he will need a slow, proper introduction to new dogs but does really well with them. He is housebroken, crate trained and well behaved in the house.  Cooper's adoption fee is waived to an experienced adopter.  ##2172307##
