Story
Oden is approximately 2 years old and was left behind on a property when his owners moved away.  He was left with his brother Oso and both were brought into our rescue.  He is currently being fostered in Clermont with his brother and is such a happy, loving guy.  He is a bit insecure and has a good bit of energy, so an active home who is willing work on his obedience and confidence would be ideal.  He does well with other dogs, although can be a bit rude at times, but does take correction from another dog well and will learn what is and isn't appropriate.  He is fully vetted with all his vaccines, is microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative, neutered and ready for his forever home.  His adoption fee is $300 and applications can be submitted at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/IDFL/Dog.  If you appear to be a match we will reach out to you to schedule an appointment.  He is available as long as this is ad is visible.September 14, 2023, 12:20 am

Story
Chomps is around 5 years old and is possibly a German Shepherd mix.  We are not 100% sure of his breed, but he is a gorgeous, sweet and goofy big baby.  He was pulled from Animal Control after he had his tail bitten off by an animal and went through 4 surgeries to have it repaired.  He needs a confidence booster, as shelter life hasn't been easy on him, but is the type of dog that once he bonds with you he is yours forever!  He doesn't appear to have much exposure to cats so his ideal home would be without cats till he gets his confidence back and learns he is safe in his forever home.  Chomps is a quick learner, he loves life even though it has not been easy on him and deserves the best!  He is crate trained, will do anything for food and is fully vetted.  If you are interested in him you can apply at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/IDFL/Dog.  September 14, 2023, 12:20 am

Meet Jax the independent pup with his own schedule. He is a goofy boy that is great with other dogs that have a rough and rowdy playstyle. He will need time to adjust to his new home outside the shelter and adopters that are willing to give him the time to warm up on his own terms. Due to Jax`s nature, he canot be adopted to a home with children.

Story
MEET MURPHY - located in ORANGE CITY, FL - Volusia County, FL (4 hrs. north of Broward) This handsome fella WAS DUMPED in a wooded area in NW Volusia County in Florida - He is about 6 months old and only weighs about 47 lbs. (His weight should be about 50 lbs.) He had been seen wandering on the land for a couple weeks before he approached the human. He was taken to a vet and was is in great shape - He has been thoroughly vetted now, put on flea/tick & heartworm prevention and has JUST been neutered and chipped so he is READY for his new forever home!     He is in a foster home and is adjusting well to people, walks well on a leash and loves his TOYS!  He is housebroken, hardly ever barks - and loves to play!  At this time, we are NOT recommending a home with small children because when he is playing, he likes to 'play bite' your hand.  Doesn't bite, doesn't break skin but for a small person, it could be scary  He is still a little 'reactive' when he meets other dogs but since he is so young - care and training should resolve this.   Adoption fee $350 If you are interested - please email for an application: info@gratefulpaws.org NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.August 21, 2024, 12:12 am

Story
Orlando, Florida. Due to work travel and finances, I must give up my German Shepherd Artemis. My late wife adopted her from a shelter, and we have provided what we can. She is three years old, has some training (recall, come, shake, sit, lay down, kiss, some heel), spayed, all her vaccinations. No resource guarding, microchipped. She is a very good guard dog at home and is very wary of others. She does socialize with other dogs and is well behaved when we go to the groomers, vet, kennel. After she got into a fight with a neighbor’s dog who ran into my yard, I muzzle her when I walk her to prevent it. She has bitten two people who came into the house that she does not know (I was not there). I must travel for work now two to three weeks a month on the other side of the US. The kennel costs are getting to be too much for me, and I think it’s unfair I am away for so much time out of the month. The German Shepherd rescues I’ve contacted around me haven't been returning my calls

Story
Sasha is being fostered in PA. Sasha needs to be an only dog. She does not like active dogs Sasha can ONLY be adopted to a home with older children or all adults. Sasha is NOT good with cats. Sasha is spayed. Christmas time is here, soon a new year will dawn, and I’m still patiently waiting for my furever home and that special family to give me lots of love and belly rubs. I enjoy walks and will do OK without a fenced yard if you take me out on walking adventures. If you have a fenced yard I will run and play with you. I just enjoy the company of peeps. I don’t care to be with other dogs, just be by myself with my humans. I am a good girl in the house…unless you leave tasty morsels of food on the counter. Then I may just have to help myself! I know Sit, Down, am learning Wait, but I don’t really want to wait, hee hee. I also do pretty well on a leash. I’m still working on some other things like no jumping up on my peeps. I just want to greet and say Hi and give kisses and hugs to my peeps. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
