I am a people-oriented, peppy guy who has previously lived in a home with other large dogs. Here in shelter playgroups, I spend more time hanging with my people friends and attending to the interesting goings on through the fence than I do playing, but I`m happy to coexist. Ask to see me today!

Story
Meet Nyles! Simply the best boy. Truly. Nyles is a fetch enthusiast who lives for the tennis ball and the joyful game of “try to steal it from me.” He adores plushies and squeaky toys and treats them like treasured possessions, not demolition projects. Playful and goofy, he’s just as happy to romp as he is to sprawl out beside you while you work or watch TV. He is 100% housebroken with impressive self control and prefers doing his business on walks. He walks beautifully on leash with a natural heel, though he can be leash reactive when passing other dogs. With guidance, he tunes right in. He’s extremely food motivated, very smart, and already knows “sit” and “down.” He’ll even go to “bed” on cue if a treat might be involved. Nyles is gentle in every way. He takes treats softly, allows handling all over, shares his food and toys without issue, and was wonderfully tolerant during post surgery care. He rides calmly in the car, rarely barks, and settles easily. His energy level is low to moderate. A good walk and a little playtime and he’s happily snoozing the day away. If you’re looking for a sweet, steady, playful companion with excellent manners and a soft heart, Nyles is ready to be your very best boy.

Story
8 year old beautiful boy. He is police trained and a great watch dog. His owner passed away and we need to find a good home for him. He responds to easy commands and is good inside. He will let you know when he needs to go out. He loves squeaky toys and Purina One dog food and, of course, treats. He has a little arthritis in one leg, but he takes Cosamine for that. Otherwise, he is very healthy.

Story
Hello, my name is Chester. I've been through a lot in my life, so I am cautious of new people. It takes me a few meetings to really get to like someone. When I was found, I had really bad wounds on my paws that took quite a while to heal. The shelter isn't sure if my wounds were caused by a person or other dogs. I don't trust other dogs either, I'd prefer it to be just me and my person in the home. I get along very well with the staff and volunteers here, I love to play with toys and cuddle! I have excellent manners, walk very nicely on a leash and listen very well. I just need someone who is willing to be understanding that I will need time to trust a new person.

Story
Hello, my name is Gypsy! I am a sweet lady who loves human attention and a good game of frisbee! I came to VOCAL with 10 newborn puppies at the age of 10 years old. Despite my age, I raised my babies well and they've all since been adopted. Now I'm looking for my perfect retirement home. I would thrive in a home with some-what active people as I still have a good amount of energy I like to burn off. But don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a good snooze on the couch! I originally came from a home with lots of other dogs and I do NOT want to go back to that kind of environment, I really need to be the only pet in the home. That way I can relax and soak up all your love for myself!
