I may be 8 years young, but my heart is brimming with love and enthusiasm. With a body made of pure cuddle potential, I'm the ideal size for those cozy moments and exciting adventures we'll share. You might be curious about my journey - I've spent over 1,200 days here at the SPARC shelter. It's been quite the ride, but with each passing day, I've learned to embrace the warmth and care that the shelter staff provide. They've transformed my fears into trust, and now I can't wait to greet them with hugs and tail wags. I'm all about being the star of your attention show. I thrive as the solo pup, relishing in the joy of being your one and only loyal companion. Sure, it might take me a little time to fully open up, but once I do, you'll have a friend for life - a friend who's ready to create memories, share laughter, and offer unconditional love.Give SPARC a call to set up a meet-and-greet - let's embark on this adventure that's brimming with tail wags, heartfelt cuddles, and the promise of a friendship that will light up our lives. I'm ready to be your loyal companion and share a lifetime of love.

With the right approach, I'm ready to show you my gentle and affectionate side. So, dear friend, could you be the one to open your heart and home to a wise and wonderful German Shepherd like me, Hazel? Story
Hello there, future paw-rent! My name is Xena, but they also call me "Brandy" at the shelter. You see, I've had a bit of a rough start in life, but I'm ready to find my forever home, and I'm speaking to you directly from my heart.Shelter life can be a bit overwhelming, and it took me some time to adjust. At first, I might seem a bit jumpy when we meet, but don't let that discourage you. I've come a long way since my first day here, and I've got a lot of love to give. One of my absolute favorite things is going for walks. There's something about exploring the world and feeling the wind on my fur that brings me so much joy. While I adore these outings, I do have to admit that I can be a bit dog-aggressive towards my fellow canines. It's just that I need a little time and maybe a few meet-and-greets with someone who's willing to be patient and understanding as I work on my social skills.Trust is a big deal for me, but once I build that bond, I promise I'm a great dog. I'm a big fan of treats, and they're an excellent way to win me over and reward me for my progress.I did have some trust issues with leads when I first arrived, but I've improved a lot. Now, I can get on my lead without any trouble, and I'm ready to embark on adventures with you. When you see me wagging my tail and flashing my sweetest smiles, you'll know that I'm truly opening up and feeling happy.I'm still a little jumpy when it comes to being pet, but I'm determined to overcome this. With your patience and love, I believe we can work through it together. So, if you're willing to invest some time and patience into helping me build trust, I promise I'll be the most loyal and loving companion you could ever ask for. Let's embark on this journey together, one treat at a time. If you're up for the challenge, I'm ready to be your loyal Brandy. Please consider giving me a chance to be your faithful four-legged friend.

Hey Everyone, my name is Jax!I can be shy with new people and may take some time to warm up. My favorite game is the sit game! when the nice SPARC staff asks me to sit, I get a treat and boy do I LOVE treats! I prefer a nice relaxing home where i can kick back and relax! Too much noise can make me a bit overstimulated so I would not be suited for a home with kids I also prefer to be the center of attention so I would love to be your one and only fury friend in the home! Come stop by! I would love to meet you!

Story
This hunky hunk is named Travis and he has all the things we love about German Shepherds…he is handsome, loyal, intelligent, trainable, soft to touch, and very playful. His original family raised him from puppyhood but couldn’t take him with them when they had to move out of state. The staff at the shelter in Los Angeles noticed his love of toys in addition to his ‘good boy’ temperament. They referred him to us, and we snapped him right up. However, he didn’t pass our extremely stringent medical clearance (due to a spot of arthritis in one of his hips that showed up in his x-rays) so we are hoping to help him find his perfect person(s) who will enjoy and appreciate him as much as we do. He is a sweet and playful boy who will catch a ball, play chase, tug a little (if you want him to). Besides looking a little like a teddy bear, he also looks much bigger in his photos than he is in real life. He’s actually a nice size (66 lbs) with a beautiful coat and soft loving eyes. He has a nice off switch and once he has decided you are worth his time, he is very affectionate (isn’t that just SO shepherd…?) His only bugaboo? He will need some further work on his leash skills. Travis is a fine dog who will thrive in an active environment with a normal exercise routine, just nothing too high impact (jumping off rubble piles and such…) Calling all Shepherd lovers! Don’t let this one get away!

Not good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Here are some of Crystal’s favorite things: playing fetch or tug, chasing squirrels, cheese, getting a belly rub from someone she knows, a frozen Kong treat, riding in a car in a crate, going on hikes. Her nickname is ‘mouse’ because of her big ears, long whiskers and her love of cheese. She is not a dog for everyone, but if you are looking for an engaged, smart, and motivated partner, she is a dog for you. If you are a Malinois person and appreciate their energy, loyalty and careful caution—she has it all. Her other nickname: 0 to 60! The other thing we appreciate about Malinois—intensity—she has that too! Crystal would excel at scent work or any dog sport that is individually based. She’s got the chops to learn and grow and has the potential to evolve with her person in conjunction with the growth of your relationship. She is very sweet and affectionate with those she knows. She came to us via a shelter in Sacramento where she had been found as a stray. The shelter noticed her toy drive (still very much intact!) and that was that. We’ve taken our time in getting to know her and figuring out what she likes (and doesn’t) and, sadly for us, it’s not USAR work that floats her boat. She has the potential to thrive in a job, if she could find the right fit and has the talent for detection work. We think she might like an adult partner (or partners) who understands Malinois, is very active and can provide outlets for her energy and her love of toy play, relationship and learning. She might like a nice yard where she can keep the squirrels out and a place to sit with you after her job is done. She might like a job or a sport, depending on what it is. She would definitely like to hike with you. She would probably like a neighborhood where she can be out and about without a ton of other dogs or people around all the time. The main thing is, if she likes you, she will be an endless source of joy and education as she blooms in your care.
