Meet Leia (A5743131) — a breathtaking 2-year-old silver sable German Shepherd who urgently needs her forever home. Leia is currently at Castaic Animal Care Center in Santa Clarita, CA, and her time is critically limited—she has been issued a 72-hour plea. Leia is a sweet, petite girl at just 51 pounds. From the moment you meet her, she charms everyone with her friendly, playful nature. She adores human connection and happily seeks affection from staff and volunteers—rolling over for belly rubs, soaking up snuggles, and leaning in for love. 💕 Highly intelligent and eager to please, Leia is already picking up basic obedience and leash manners. While she tends to display dominance and hasn’t enjoyed playtime with other dogs in the shelter environment, she is currently being recommended as an only dog. Leia deserves a safe, loving home where she can thrive and finally feel secure. If you’ve been looking for a loyal, affectionate companion, she may be the one waiting for you. Leia is available for in-person adoptions at the Castaic Shelter; however, Ollie's Angels Animal Welfare Society can assist with adopters who are not local to the area. They can be reached at info@OllliesAngelsAWS.org. Castaic Animal Care Center 📍 31044 N. Charlie Canyon Road, Castaic, CA 91384 📞 661-257-3191 📧 castaic@animalcare.lacounty.gov

After 5 months of dedicated training in foster care, Penny is a beautiful 2-year-old, Chessie/German Shepherd mix, ready for her forever person. Penny is a dream companion—calm and obedient at home and in a secure yard, with a loving, loyal nature and a strong desire to make her humans happy. Penny is a total rockstar of a dog—smart, eager, and incredibly in tune with her person. She’s a fast learner who already knows all her basic commands, including sit, down, shake, stay, heel, wait, come, and touch. On leash, Penny shines with excellent manners and focused attention, making walks feel effortless. She’s highly responsive, loves to engage, and truly thrives when she’s working alongside her handler. If you’re looking for a dog who’s both brilliant and deeply connected, Penny is it. Penny’s accomplishments include: • Excellent leash skills—perfect for walks and hikes • Solid obedience • Crate-trained, house-trained, and respectful in the home • Loves fetch, playtime, and anything involving water • People-friendly, affectionate, and eager to please • A total cuddle bug who lives for back scratches • Due to Penny's high working drive, she would be best suited in an adult-only home (or with kids 13+) with either no other pets or calm dogs Penny is past the chaotic puppy phase but is still young, trainable, and eager to continue learning—truly the whole package. Ollie's Angels Animal Welfare Society has generously offered to fund a training session for Penny and her new adopters to help ensure a smooth transition into her new home. Story
I found Opal as a puppy in 2019, she stayed inside until she was about 8 months and since she’s been an outdoor dog. She is a very lovable girl however I can’t give her what she needs and would rather her be with someone that can. She’s very sweet she loves people, other animals and very gentle. She loves to go on walks, hangout, and play. I’d say Opal is a very “match your energy” kind of girl, she’ll dance with me, sit next to me while I work or stands with my mom while she’s in the garden. She had all her puppy shots and I took her to the vet for checkups until she was about 2/3 when I couldn’t take her anymore. It has been a couple years since then but she’s very healthy no change in appetite or behavior since then. She’s good with other dogs unless they annoy her she’ll bark. She’s good with kids but she needs supervision and she gets along with but doesn’t care for cats. Overall she’s a lovely dog and I want her to have everything she deserves :)

Tre is ready for adoption, He had his amputation surgery and it’s all healed now and he knows life as any other dog. He’s a Belgian shepherd mix of 7 months old that loves attention and follows structure very well. He’s crate trained, leash trained, house trained (yet still curious to get into things). We are still trying to raise money to pay off his Vet bill, but asking just $350-Adoption fee. This includes his neuter, chip and vaccines, plus 5 training classes. If interested, come by the ranch any day 8-6.

Story
Update! RJ had his enucleation surgery and is so much happier. He’s even more playful and affectionate than he was before the surgery. He’s a really terrific boy who is lovable, brave, resilient and so smart!  RJ is a seven year old Dutch Shepherd mix. He was found wandering on the mean streets of South Los Angeles by himself, and taken to a high kill shelter. We pulled RJ out of the shelter to give him a chance at a good life. RJ has PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) and cataracts and is blind. He doesn't let the lack of sight affect his quality of life, and is a happy guy who finds his way around just fine. This brave boy is only hesitant about one thing: traffic noises. RJ has a surgery coming up to remove both eyes because he has blown up a case of glaucoma in both eyes. He will be much happier, and pain free afterwards. He'll be available for adoption as soon as he is completely healed. He's a very affectionate boy who really doesn't ask for a lot, but he sure does like belly rubs and cuddle sessions. He enjoys every meal, and loves the raw bone-in treats that we give him every day. He's content to make himself comfortable on his big cushy bed, and will alert to sounds that he's not familiar with. We always announce ourselves when we greet RJ, and he always has a nose to the air - his other senses take over for his lack of sight. He knows every bush and tree on his walks, and likes going out for short adventures. He likes car rides, too. We guide him with our voices. We're searching for an owner that knows that sometimes dogs that aren't perfect CAN be perfect. RJ is always cheerful, gentle and doesn't know a bad day. He learns very fast when taught, too. He greets every day and person with a smile on his face. He's a really amazing spirit. If you would like to meet this remarkable boy, please complete an application for adoption: www.deafdogrescueofamerica.org/adoption-application.htmlNovember 3, 2024, 12:20 am
