Story
Maika is a dog that will need the magic formula: time, patience, + TLC. Coming from Stockton into the concrete jungle of San Francisco, we ensure Maika is gaining confidence by letting her learn at her own pace and never forcing her into an interaction, or to walk with us this direction or that direction. Maika says, `Street commotion is scary.` We agree! High-value treats like fresh boiled chicken really help teach her that she can do anything she sets her mind to. Do you have the capacity to care for this sweet wallflower who is yet to bloom? Maika is waiting.

Story
I found Summer at the pound. She is a super friendly, loving and affectionate girl. When were at home, she normally just lays somewhere near or cuddles up on the couch. She loves her walks and is very good with other dogs. She isn't bad with cats, she just doesn't realize her size and is super ready to greet them, thus the problem I have. My cats are terrified of her, and even tho she hasn't attempted to bite one, she just wants to say Hi too energetically. I dont recommend a home with cats unless the cat is already familiar with big dogs and won't tend to run. Otherwise, she has been a blessing, she is probably the sweetest girl I have met and needs to find someone with lots of love to give.

Story
Hit the trail with Claus! There's nothing like camping or hiking with a furry friend. They help you to be in the moment, to stop and smell the roses, and they're such great company. If you've been wanting a companion to enjoy the great outdoors with, Claus may be your guy! This stunning, curious, confident 2-year-old German shepherd loves to go out and about, and is super smart. He's a quick learner, attentive, and adores people. (Other dogs, not so much at this stage. He should be the only dog in your home.) We think he'd thrive with someone who would get him into parks and nature and expend some energy. * Alert, intelligent * Loves people * Best tongue-out faces * Quick learner * Might not be dog friendly * Adults-only forever home preferred * Dog-savvy kids 14 and older okay Did you know FAAS offers $200 of canine behavior training with every dog adoption? Come take Claus for a walk along our waterfront and get to know this bold, beautiful youngster. We're open noon to 4PM every day but Monday at 1590 Fortmann Way location in Alameda, California.

Story
Cute, adorable, and ever so loving and happy, Solo is a six month old GSD mix that was dumped in Linden. He was found and saved by a kind Samaritan who took him home. She initially thought she had found a possible home with one of her co-workers but could not keep him until the family returned from vacation. Another co-worker named Rasheeda offered to temporarily foster Solo until the family could take him. Unfortunately, when the family returned, they had changed their mind and decided not to adopt him so Rasheeda ended up with Solo. She didn't have many other options so she called Golden State. Solo has a couple of large breed four-legged siblings and can "keep up with the big dogs". He is also very comfortable with people of all ages and is good with kitties. He is housebroken, crate trained, and loves to play fetch. Rasheeda has a basket filled with toys and Solo loves to take out a bunch at a time. Solo walks well on a leash but would benefit from more training because, since he is still a puppy, he can get exctied and has a tendency to jump on people. However, Rasheeda is diligently teaching him to keep "four on the floor". Solo would do best with someone who has experience and the resources (time, energy, and commitment) raising a puppy but would absolutely love another dog in the home to keep him company. Story
Want to feel understood? Starr is your girl. This gorgeous 2-year-old German shepherd is a great listener -- her ears were built to hear anything you want to tell her, and she won't tell anyone else! She's gentle, sweet, and loves soft ear scratches and a good cuddle. She might seem aloof at first, but so can a lot of wonderful people who are shy, as she can be. Give her a little time and you'll see the amazing girl we see. * Warms gradually to new people. * Super loving once bonded * Needs to be your only dog at this time As one volunteer who walked her said, "Once she relaxed, she let me know that she loves ear gentle scratches and is a snuggle bear. Very delicate and gentle. She is an amazing girl." Starr has had mixed reactions to other dogs. At least for now, she needs an adopter who has no other pets. Did you know FAAS provides $200 of dog training to all canine adopters?

Story
Odette is a cheerful and spirited Belgian Malinois who loves the outdoors and can keep up with an active lifestyle. She is gentle and affectionate, often giving sweet kisses to her fosters and handling her treats and toys with care. Playful and social, Odette enjoys the company of other dogs when properly introduced. Odette thrives when she has a job to do and appreciates a home where her humans can delegate tasks to her. She loves to stay productive but also cherishes essential snuggle time. She is well-behaved in the house, enjoys cuddling on the couch, and sleeps on the bed near the pillow. However, Odette is not suited for first-time dog owners, homes with small children, small pets, or cats due to her high prey drive. A fence might slow her down, but it won't stop her from chasing critters. Belgian Malinois are historically herding animals and can make excellent guard dogs. Odette would thrive in a home with ample space to roam and attentive humans who can provide her with the mental and physical stimulation she needs. Additionally, Odette loves camping, making her an ideal companion for outdoor adventures. She is ready to begin her forever adventure. To schedule a meet and greet, fill out the online application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/RTUG/Dog. A volunteer will respond in a few days.
