Story
Auggie is a nice dog, but he does not realize how big he is. When the kids are over he runs to get out the door or anywhere and knocks them down he even pushes us out the way. The little dogs bark at him sometimes he pushes them with his head again doesn’t realize how big he is and they slam against the wall. Other than that he is a good dog he just sits there or wants to play fetch, he loves the water but gets ear infections easily. Auggie is a good dog we just can’t take care of him like we can.

Story
We adopted Koda from an animal shelter in Sacramento. He had been found on the streets malnourished. We adopted him at 5 months old. We nursed him back to health and now he is 9 months old. He has been through puppy training class and enjoys other dogs. He is high energy and loves to take long walks and play outside. He thrives best with someone that has time to dedicate to him. He struggles with some anxiety. Our older dog has not been welcoming and does not like his high puppy energy. Unfortunately because of this, we need to find him a new home.

Story
Kong needs a new home! 3 yrd old GS, due for updated shots and needs to be neutered. Very loving, has had some training but needs someone that has patience and time to work with him. He loves other dogs of all sizes but it has been awhile since he has had interactions. Kongs Human Dad became disabled and he was brought to my home but I don't have the capacity or funds to give him what he needs. He used to be great with kids but has not had interactions in over a year. He is food/bone aggressive. We love him so much but know he needs more than we can provide.

Story
Dogs don't come any cuter than Daffodil! Daffodil is an approximately 2-year-old bundle of fun who is eager to find her forever home. She is the sweetest girl who will happily make herself comfy in your lap and cover your face in kisses. We haven't had the heart to tell her she is slightly too big to be a lap dog. Daffodil is fully grown and weighs around 60lbs (although she could benefit from losing a few pounds). Daffodil came to us after she was found as a stray. One of our foster homes agreed to take her in until an owner was found, but an owner never came forward. A couple of weeks after she was found Daffodil gave birth to 9 puppies! All of her puppies have been adopted, so now it's her turn! Daffodil is a wiggly goofball and loves to explore and go on adventures. Now that she doesn't have to care for her babies she is ready to enjoy life and soak up all the human attention for herself. Daffodil has been doing great learning her basic manners and has learned "sit". She is very food-motivated, which makes training a blast. Her new family will need to be prepared to dedicate the time to continue to work on her basic manners to help her be the best girl she can be. Daffodil would do best with someone who has large dog experience as she is a strong and enthusiastic girl. Daffodil is a moderate-energy gal. When she's at home, she is happy to chill on the couch and enjoy movie marathons, but she also has the energy for long walks and hikes. She loves car rides and hops right in and is ready to go. She loves making new human friends and has been a popular girl at our adoption events. She is quick to walk to cover your face in kisses and lean into you for a hug. She oozes happiness and can't wait to find her fur-ever family! Daffodil has done well living with other dogs but also would thrive as your one and only canine companion. She does best with dogs around her size as she is a wrestle-mania type of girl and would likely be too much for a small dog. She needs a kitty-free home. Due to her rambunctious nature, Daffodil would do best with an adult-only home or with kids 12 years or older. Daffodil has been doing very well with her house and crate training. She sleeps through the night in her crate and has done well hanging out in there when her foster mom is at work or gone for a few hours. Daffodil is such a sweet girl and she deserves her happy-ever-after. If you think that might be with you, submit an adoption application today!   Daffodil's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. February 10, 2025, 2:29 am

Story
Looking for a fun-loving, playful, and curious companion? Meliodas is your guy! He recently had an amazing Doggie Day Out, exploring Old Sacramento, walking along the waterfront, and even stopping for a relaxing café break. He loved sniffing, exploring, and making new friends along the way! This smart pup already knows how to sit and walks well on a leash, staying by your side—though he may get a little too excited when seeing other dogs and will need some guidance to stay calm. He was also incredibly sweet and patient when a young child unexpectedly hugged him, showing his gentle nature. If you`re looking for a loyal, fun, and active companion, Meliodas would love to meet you! Come say hello and see if he’s the perfect match for your family.

Story
We initially got Laika as a foster, but she was so wonderful we ended up adopting her after her spay. We have two cats and were hopeful that if we continued slow introductions they might end up getting along. Unfortunately, even after working with a trainer and a behavioralist Laika is too fixated on chasing/herding the cats to live safely in a house with them. She has some reactivity on leash to dogs and unfamiliar men but has done great with all people once introduced. She is gentle taking treats, tolerant with grooming, and has done great with kids. She did get along well with her roommate in the shelter. Laika is a fantastic dog, and we would not have put so much time into trying to make things work otherwise. She is house broken and we are able to leave her loose while at work during the day. She is affectionate, whip-smart (with a repertoire of 10 commands so far), and eager to please. She is very chill for a Malinois but would still do best with daily walks and a fenced yard.

Adoption Fee:  $100.00 Sasha is a female Belgian Malinois that is approximately 10 years old.  She came to us when her elderly owner passed away.  She was an outdoor only dog for the last half of her life. Everything inside her foster’s home was new to her. She has very quickly learned about the creature comforts of being indoors, surrounded by people, and what treats are. Sasha sleeps in a crate at night, and has learned to use the doggie door to go outside and is housebroken.  She is fostered in a home with two other female dogs, and does well with them.  There are also grandchildren who regularly visit and she does well with them.  She loves to give hugs to everyone. She knows basic commands like sit, lay down, and she is working on wait/stay.  Sasha is looking for a home who will help her explore the new world and continue training. No cats or small critters. Level 2 As a senior, Sasha's adoption fee is sponsored through 12/31/24.  Submit an Adoption Questionnaire to meet her soon. Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels.
