Story
When Lou's current guardians first met their beloved rescue pup, she was anxious and terrified, especially around other dogs due to her special needs. Lou's rear paws were amputated as a puppy, under unknown circumstances. Over the past year, with a lot of love and care, Lou has transformed into a happy, relaxed, confident, and deeply loving companion. She is alert, playful, sweet, eager to please, and a quick learner!Lou is a ~2.5-year-old German Shepherd who weighs 60 lbs. She is up to date on all her shots, fully house trained, spayed, and crate trained. She walks short distances independently and is speedier and more athletically coordinated than you might expect! Lou goes to the bathroom like any ordinary dog, with no assistance required. She needs a bit of rear-end support to climb stairs and is intrepidly learning to cruise in her wheels.Unfortunately, Lou has never become comfortable with the large resident dog, and her guardians cannot give either one the attention they deserve. Lou would love to be the only dog in her forever home but could do well with small dogs with a slow introductory period. To help ease the transition into Lou’s forever home, her current guardians will provide a one-month food supply, her favorite toys (new), a crate, two sets of clean bedding, an onboarding session with a dog behaviorist, wheels and accessories, and an introduction to Silverado Veterinary Hospital where Lou is a registered patient. Please reach out to Anne by text at (612) 701-0612 for more information and to learn more about Lou!

Story
Hi I'm Checkers.  Check me out! I am a 3 year old German Shepherd, and quite a handsome boy if I do say so myself.  I like to play with my kong and go on leisurely walks.  I love people, and am very affectionate and loyal. My foster mom says I am a really good boy and so easy to have around.  I would really like to have my own family to hang out with.  I don't mind being left alone while you are at work, and I am completely house trained. I know how to sit and I walk well on a leash, but I don't like kitties. I hope you will want to come meet me.       Come see this pup on Saturdays during adoption event hours. Please email Linda at lbredfire@sbcglobal.net or call WT&F's Dog Team voicemail 707-812-9030 to get a jump on the process, ask questions, and/or to confirm they will be there. Dog adoptions are held outside Napa Petco every Saturday - 12:30pm to 4:00pm. This dog comes spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, and more with an adoption fee/donation to Whiskers, Tails and Ferals in Napa, CA. Story
Meet Rex, aka Slim. At ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD He's going to need a new home. A home where his humans are experienced with the breed. Rex was on Next-door about 5 months ago to find a new home with his then owner. NVGSR offered to pay to have him neutered and heartworm tested before rehoming. As it turned out Rex was nearly starving. Rex aka Slim has been in the vet hospital ever since. Many tests were done but all negative. He was just starving. He's gained weight and ready for a new home. He'll continue to benefit from dog food that assists in the breaking down of protein. We were able to track down his sire and he comes from good lines, actually champion lines. If you are looking for a buddy and have the time and recourses for a canine please reach out to Napa Valley German Shepherd rescue as we are assisting the vet in finding him a good home where he can thrive.

Meet Dax Shepard. This big, handsome boy has a bigger heart and a tail that wags his whole body. He was surrendered by his owner, networked to us from Shafter and has settled in well at the farm. Dax is happy youngster who can be picky about his dog friends but is yet to meet a person he doesn't like. He is affectionate around people and is very happy to stand with his head in your lap waiting for pats and scratches. He has high energy, balanced with a gentle nature and we think he will make an extremely loyal companion. If you are interested in meeting this armchair expert wanna be, complete an adoption application and schedule a meet & greet. Adoption donation $495.

Story
Sherman "Sheppy" joined us from the Fresno Humane Society and has been a cherished part of our rescue family. He is a loyal and affectionate friend. Sheppy is good with everyone he meets, showing kindness and patience to adults and children. He gets along fine with other dogs, though he prefers the company of calm and gentle dogs over big, bouncy ones. Sheppy is an older gentleman, which means he brings a sense of wisdom and steadiness that younger dogs may not. He does have a prey drive, so no cats or dogs under 20 pounds. He can be leash reactive, so he would NOT make a great dog walk around the city. If you want to give a sweet senior a forever home, have a nice yard for him to supervise you while gardening and lay on your feet on a cold winter night; he's your guy. Apply today; he's been with us far too long! Meet this wonderful older gentleman and give him the forever home he deserves.

Story
Hi, I'm Freddy! I'm a super sweet and gentle Shepherd mix pup. When I first arrived at the shelter I was pretty scared of everything in the new world around me. Thanks to the patience of our awesome staff and volunteers, I'm really coming out of my shell! I've made a few other doggie pals here at the shelter too and love playing with them in the play yard. I would thrive in a loving home with a patient understanding and person/family. With the right touch I can blossom into the confident boy I was meant to be! Freddy's foster had this to say, "Freddy really blossomed outside of the shelter environment! While always on the shy side around people at the shelter, at home he just wanted to be near us and loved getting some extra rubs. He was happy to lounge around and snooze, but also found time to be curious and try out some new toys. He's also a quiet soul - he was calm and curious when someone came to the door, not a peep! And only made a few barks when he was letting us know he was ready to play. At night he was a perfectly behaved snuggle bud, sleeping in bed until it was time to get up in the morning. Freddy really thrived and was such a loving boy outside of the extra noise and action in the shelter environment."My adoption fee covers the cost of my neuter, microchip, and all my vaccinations, including rabies. Please come and meet me by completing an adoption interest form at HSNB.org. Hope to meet you real soon! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 61 Age: 3yrs 4mths 2wks

Story
Hello there, I'm Lady. I'm one of several beautiful German Shepherds here at HSNB, weighing in at about 65 lbs.I have been in foster for 4 months and I love my humans, and my foster doggy sister. We walk together, play together and sleep together without issue (sometimes we both take over the bed and humans wake up stiff from sleeping funny - oops). We recently added another foster dog to the house, and I play great with him too! Cats - not so keen as my instinct is to chase.I am a shy girl and strangers can be scary but if you come in slowly and give me a couple minutes I will soon be snuggling up for pets (I am also super soft). I am potty trained, dog door trained, a lap stealer and a bit of a toy hog. I warn the humans of stranger danger so you will never be surprised by someone coming to the house. I would thrive best with someone that helps me to feel safe and is patient with me and maybe has a dog already that I can play with. I have a lot of love to give. Please come and meet me!My $150 adoption fee means I will come to your home spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines. Please visit HSNB.org to complete an adoption interest application found in our bio. Hope to see you soon! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 64.375 Age: 2yrs 9mths 3wks

Story
Indy embodies the true spirit of a German Shepherd - loyal, loving, and full of energy! He's the perfect companion for active owners who enjoy long walks and playing fetch. Indy is slow to trust people, likely due to his life before the shelter, but once he does, he's loving and affectionate. While he hasn't been tested with cats, he does well with other dogs when properly introduced. Indy would do best in a breed-experienced home with a large yard for him to play in.Indy's $200 adoption fee helps cover his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. Are you ready to welcome this loving and energetic companion into your life? Adopt Indy today and experience the joy of having a loyal furry friend!Head over to our website at https://www.hsnb.org/dog-adoption-application/ to fill out an adoption application and start the journey to forever happiness with Indy by your side!
