Story
FOSTER CARE! Hello, my name is Bebe and I'm a 4 year old, spayed, smooth German Shepherd/Pitbull mix that currently weighs about 54 lbs. I'm an affectionate girl that starts off on the timid side. Once I'm comfortable, I enjoy belly rubs and daily walks! I'm hoping for a quiet home that understands that I am a wonderful, but sensitive lady who will need time to adjust into a new setting. Once I'm settled, I'm the epitome of good etiquette. I am calm and demure, most of the time. I've been known to be a fence climber when I want to be with my people. I love the game of chase! Especially with small critters like birds and squirrels so I prefer to be the only pet in the household. My foster family says I'm crate trained (I sleep there at night) and I've had minimal accidents in the house. I'm also a pro at sitting for treats! For more information, just ask Customer Service about Bebe! ID# A946402 Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance.   Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. Story
Well, hello! My name is Hershey, a 9-month-old, spayed female German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix who currently weighs around 55 lbs. but will most like be 74 to 90 lbs. as an adult. I'm a silly, rambunctious girl that is a little uncertain on how to make doggy friends so I'm hoping to continue working on my social skills and impulse control with an active, loving family. I can't wait to meet everyone in the household including any resident dogs before I head home.  Hershey ID# A955664 I recently spent time with a volunteer! Here's how I did: I took Hershey out for the first time today. She was really eager to get out. Luckily the yard was available because this girl LOVES to fetch and LOVES the water! She ran happily in the yard chasing balls and splashing around. She knows drop so it’s easy to trade balls and keep her running. I also took her for a walk. She needs some work on leash manners but did not pull really hard - probably due to running zoomies before! She is affectionate.Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
Adoptable Dog Ringo: Mostly Dog with a Splash of Polar Bear Meet Ringo! Found running skinny, scared and stray by a good samaritan, Ringo was taken to PHS in hopes our local humane society would help find him the family whose home he is going to brighten immensely. Unfortunately the only service PHS was willing to provide was euthanasia, so PACC stepped in. While PHS was "unable to introduce Ringo to even one dog due to aggression and resource guarding", neither of which he has, Ringo was running with PACC's pack the moment he met them. This guy is super pro-social and LOVES his dog buddies. We are looking for a home with other medium to large dogs for Ringo to romp with. If you have a high energy pup you'd like to run the battery down on, Ringo would be an excellent pick. He just can't say no to playing and he's got the genes and stamina to keep on playing, for as long as needed. Our boy's stats: ~2 yrs old, large, 85 lb, neutered male, up to date on vax and microchipped. As far as his lineage goes - go ahead and make yourself a cup of coffee/tea cause his DNA results take some time to plow through...here we go: 45% German Shepherd Dog, 17% Siberian Husky, 7% Chow Chow, 3% Australian Shepherd, 2% Australian Cattle Dog, 2% White Swiss Shepherd, 5% American Pit Bull Terrier, 4% Samoyed, 3% Akita...wait, we're not done yet... 3% Doberman Pinscher, 2% Rottweiler, 2% American Staffordshire Terrier...we definitely got our money's worth on this guy's DNA test...3% Labrador Retriever and 2% Catahoula Leopard Dog. Whew!! If you read all that you get your personal equivalent of a gold star. Ringo is big, super sweet, as affectionate as they come and goofy as all get out. Plus he's just a pleasure to look at. He does have what we call separation anxiety - so all you introverted home bodies who feel guilty for not being more social and outgoing - this guy prefers your type. No more social stigma for wanting to stay at home, Ringo will stay with you! That said, when in the company of another dog(s), and you leave him, he lets out a coupla of weird "I'm gonna die" sounds and then just resigns himself to awaiting your return. He is easy peasy to walk on leash - no rotator cuff injuries with this guy - he's a little nervous out and about, likes to stick close by and the upside of that is that he does not pull. Ringo's signature move is sometimes, but not always, stirring his water with his paws before he drinks. Maybe the good stuff is at the bottom? PACC is looking for a moderately active, homebody type family where Ringo will not be left for long hours alone and a solidly (high) fenced yard for him to play and do his business in. The more medium to large dogs the merrier, as he does like his frens. Children in the home should be 10+ because little humans take time, dogs take time and few families have time for both. Ringo has not been around cats so we prefer a home without our feline friends to avoid wasting everyone's time should he be too interested in them, and lastly a family that would like to turn up the joy factor in the home and the beauty aesthetic by having this lovely creature roaming the house. If Ringo sounds like a good fit with your situation, COPY AND PASTE THE APPLICATION LINK BELOW INTO YOUR BROWSER and we will be in touch once received! https://forms.gle/fEjKqre4rGP6bZCd8

Story
Lady is a loving dog with one of the best smiles you’ll ever see! Due to pain in her elbow, Lady only does 10- to 15-minute walks twice a day, but that doesn’t dampen her spirit! While she enjoys her short walks, she really loves playing games in the house, and will happily play hide-and-seek with her favorite toys. Lady will do great in any kind of household, as long as there are no other pets. She is very affectionate with the people and interacts great with children. She also makes the perfect office or couch buddy, as she settles down well and is fully potty trained. She loves to hang out with her people, leaning in for pets and lying next to you while you work or relax. This lovely girl came to the shelter just before Thanksgiving2023, when her family was no longer able to take care of her. Since then, she has been patiently waiting for her new family. We think Lady is just the sweetest dog, and we know you will too! Fine Print Lady is best in a household with no other pets. She is great with children!

Story
I found Summer at the pound. She is a super friendly, loving and affectionate girl. When were at home, she normally just lays somewhere near or cuddles up on the couch. She loves her walks and is very good with other dogs. She isn't bad with cats, she just doesn't realize her size and is super ready to greet them, thus the problem I have. My cats are terrified of her, and even tho she hasn't attempted to bite one, she just wants to say Hi too energetically. I dont recommend a home with cats unless the cat is already familiar with big dogs and won't tend to run. Otherwise, she has been a blessing, she is probably the sweetest girl I have met and needs to find someone with lots of love to give.

Hit the trail with Claus! There's nothing like camping or hiking with a furry friend. They help you to be in the moment, to stop and smell the roses, and they're such great company. If you've been wanting a companion to enjoy the great outdoors with, Claus may be your guy! This stunning, curious, confident 2-year-old German shepherd loves to go out and about, and is super smart. He's a quick learner, attentive, and adores people. (Other dogs, not so much at this stage. He should be the only dog in your home.) We think he'd thrive with someone who would get him into parks and nature and expend some energy. * Alert, intelligent * Loves people * Best tongue-out faces * Quick learner * Might not be dog friendly * Adults-only forever home preferred * Dog-savvy kids 14 and older okay Did you know FAAS offers $200 of canine behavior training with every dog adoption? Come take Claus for a walk along our waterfront and get to know this bold, beautiful youngster. We're open noon to 4PM every day but Monday at 1590 Fortmann Way location in Alameda, California.

Story
Cute, adorable, and ever so loving and happy, Solo is a six month old GSD mix that was dumped in Linden. He was found and saved by a kind Samaritan who took him home. She initially thought she had found a possible home with one of her co-workers but could not keep him until the family returned from vacation. Another co-worker named Rasheeda offered to temporarily foster Solo until the family could take him. Unfortunately, when the family returned, they had changed their mind and decided not to adopt him so Rasheeda ended up with Solo. She didn't have many other options so she called Golden State. Solo has a couple of large breed four-legged siblings and can "keep up with the big dogs". He is also very comfortable with people of all ages and is good with kitties. He is housebroken, crate trained, and loves to play fetch. Rasheeda has a basket filled with toys and Solo loves to take out a bunch at a time. Solo walks well on a leash but would benefit from more training because, since he is still a puppy, he can get exctied and has a tendency to jump on people. However, Rasheeda is diligently teaching him to keep "four on the floor". Solo would do best with someone who has experience and the resources (time, energy, and commitment) raising a puppy but would absolutely love another dog in the home to keep him company.
