Story
Meet FRANCO, a 2yo shepherd/malinois mix. We rescued FRANCO from the Downey shelter where he had shown up with a broken leg. He's long since healed up and he's looking for a forever home with someone who ideally has "shepherd and/or working dog" experience. FRANCO is a young, athletic dog who responds well to a confident leader. He is very loving, attentive, and loyal. He likes long walks, jogs, and he LOVES playing in water. He has been working with a trainer each week who has been teaching him and exposing him to different activities and environments and attends a small group class Check out video of him working the "lunge line" and other videos https://youtu.be/qakqEbGqKBg https://www.instagram.com/p/CZC4rD2PgvX/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CYxeijXp4zZ/ If you adopt FRANCO - he comes with a limited number of free sessions with his trainer (depending on location) to help you get off to a great start! FRANCO is about 70lbs and currently at our kennel in South Gate. He is crate-trained, house-trained, neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. If you are in the Los Angeles area and interested in meeting FRANCO, please fill out our brief online questionnaire (copy and paste link): www.downtowndogrescue.org/adoption-questionnaire Additional Downtown Dog Rescue information email: adopt@downtowndogrescue.org or call: 818-407-4145

Story
Meet gentle BENSON, a 90lb, black and tan German Shepherd, who spent time at two LA City shelters before we rescued him. During his time at South LA and North Central shelters he participated in several dog playgroups and was a volunteer favorite. This handsome guy is estimated to be about 4 years old. BENSON spent time at our kennel and is currently in a foster home with another dog. He has a nice calm energy with a playful side too. Don't let BENSON's "size" deter you from meeting him. He walks extremely well on leash and takes treats gently. Benson can be a little reserved when you first meet him but he enjoys being close to people and has an affectionate, loyal personality. BENSON is neutered, micro-chipped, house-broken and current on shots. If you are in the Los Angeles area and would like to meet him, please fill out our brief adoption questionnaire at downtowndogrescue.org/adoption-questionnaire and we will get back to you. #ddrbenson

He&#39s definitely afraid of traffic and is going to need a home that&#39s willing to work with him. He&#39s got one of the most expressive faces and adores the people he interacts with on a daily basis. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Fargo IS AVAILALBE (updated 08-23-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Fargo, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21785&name=FargoFargo is a true working dog who is motivated by his stomach and toys. He&#39s ridiculously smart and obedience trained, but wasn&#39t socialized prior to his rescue. He&#39s spent his time with us training and now just needs someone who will help him transition what he&#39s learned into becoming part of a family. We rescued Fargo from the OC Shelter and he&#39s proven to be a smarty pants with a nose that never stops. He looks to have had no structure in his previous home and will do best with someone who has large breed experience (working dog experience a plus!) and understands dogs who need proper introduction to new people. He&#39s a big puppy and can be fearfull around fast moving people whom he doesn&#39t already know, so a low traffic home with no children is recommended. He is, however, super food motivated and follows direction like a well oiled machine once heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s bonded with you, so he just needs to find someone who will work with him and allow him to grow into a perfectly balanced boy. Fargo loves his toys, his walks, is obedience trained, and a super quick study. He knows sit, down, stay, come, heel, swing, place, back, drop it, slip, hupf, nein, and then some. This handsome boy is ready to move into a home of his own!The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. Gunner IS AVAILALBE (updated 08-23-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Gunner, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21838&name=GunnerHere&#39s the thing about this really smart, handsome, smart, gorgeous, smart GSD: He&#39s smart. He can also be stubborn. He&#39s like a teenage boy in the body of a GSD. ð&#194&#159&#194&#152&#194&#129Gunner is just about the most well trained dog in our rescue. He&#39s been working on his obedience game for over a year and knows all of the tricks. He has a relationship with certain volunteers in which he understands they are the leaders and he is the follower. Once you achieve that relationship with him, he&#39s just about the most fun canine companion in the world! But, and here&#39s the but, you don&#39t have that relationship with him yet. As smart as he is, he&#39s not a well oiled machine who is the same dog with different people. He is going to be a dream dog for someone who likes to work their dogs, but he is going to be a handful for someone who doesn&#39t. Around 6-7 years of age, Gunner is your typical working dog with lots of energy who is smart as a whip, loves to run and play, and adores his people. He craves work, loves a job, and would probably enjoy agility. He&#39s adorable, loving, affectionate, playful, and needs a home with GSD/working dog experience or he will take the lead position and become overly protective. If you&#39re looking for a smart puppy who would love to be part of an active home, Gunner is your boy!The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible.
