Hello there! My name is Faye, and it`s such a pleasure to speak with you. I`m a Siberian Husky Mix, about 1.5 to 2 years old. I`m spayed, up to date on all my vaccines, and heartworm negative—healthy and ready to find my forever family!I became homeless on November 15, 2024, after I got a little too curious and followed some kids to West Jr. High School. I ended up lost and couldn’t find my way back home. The hardest part is that no one came looking for me to bring me back. But I’m staying positive and hopeful that the right family will find me soon.Since arriving at the shelter, I’ve made so much progress. I’ve learned to play nicely with other dogs, and I’m even friendly with cats—honestly, I don’t pay them much attention. My favorite day of the week is Wednesday because the dog walkers come and take us on exciting walks around the property. We also get to join playgroups, which is so much fun!One time, I got to spend the day in the office with the staff. I met lots of new people, had my glamour shots taken (I’m a natural, if I do say so myself), and just hung out. I did great! The only challenge was when the door opened—I was so curious about what was on the other side. But hey, I’m a Husky mix, and exploring is in my blood! If you’re looking for a pretty cool pupper, you should come meet me. Bring your other pets, and let’s see if I might be the perfect addition to your family. I’d love to spend the holidays—and every day after—with you.Happy Holidays!

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Colburn! I`m a 2-year-old Black German Shepherd Dog with a lot of love to give. I’m up to date on my vaccines, on heartworm prevention, and have been tested for parasites, earning a clean bill of health. I did test very lightly positive for heartworms, but no worries—I`m healthy enough to receive treatment with no downtime. Plus, the treatment is already covered by my adoption fee, so it won`t cost you anything extra.I became homeless the week before Thanksgiving this year when my previous owner abandoned me on the Mississippi River Bike Trail in West Memphis. Animal Control Officers tried to capture me a few times after reports from kind passersby, but I managed to stay out of reach in the open terrain. On November 27, 2024, everything changed. A police officer parked nearby and spoke to me in a soft, reassuring voice. After some time, I decided to trust him. He gave me a small snack—it was delicious, especially since I hadn’t eaten in days. When he opened the squad car’s door, I jumped right in, and he took me to the animal shelter. At first, I was scared and unsure of what would happen to me. The shelter staff were so kind, giving me a warm meal and a cozy cot with a blanket. I slept for hours, feeling safe and full for the first time in a while. Over the next few days, I began to open up. I’m still a little shy when meeting new people, but I’m gentle, not a jumper, and I enjoy exploring without my tail tucked under anymore. Now, I’m ready for my next adventure—a forever home with a family who will love and care for me. If you’d like to meet me, please stop by the shelter! I promise you’ll be glad you did. Happy Holidays!

Story
Hi there! My name’s Quincey, and I’ve got a little confession to make—I’ve been a bit naughty this holiday season. You see, I got bored at home and wandered over to the neighbor’s house. I might’ve been a tiny bit destructive with some of their things... oops! What can I say? I didn’t have anything fun to play with at my house.Anyway, that’s how I ended up at the shelter. My owner decided to bring me here and abandon me after hours during the Thanksgiving holiday (caught on camera—whoops again!). The shelter staff found me running loose on the property the next morning. Oh, and my owner forgot I had a microchip, so it didn’t take long for my whole story to come out. Before all this, my owner had me DNA tested, and guess what? I’m a total continental mix! My results showed I’m 42.2% American Pit Bull Terrier, 17.2% Siberian Husky, 17.2% German Shepherd Dog, 16.6% Australian Cattle Dog, and 6.8% Great Dane. Pretty cool, right? Now let me tell you a bit about me. I’m a big, goofy dog who loves to play and keep busy. I’ve got an adorable face and a larger-than-life personality to match my mix of breeds. I just need a home where I can stay entertained, loved, and happy—no more boredom-induced adventures, I promise! If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion with a unique heritage and a whole lot of charm, come visit me. Let’s see if we’re a match. Wishing you Happy Holidays and a fantastic New Year!

Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
Summer is a three year old 50 lb German shepherd mix who was found as a stray. Here is what her finder/foster mom says about her: she is the sweetest girl! Very gentle. Her favorite thing to do is cuddle! She loves to bury her face on me and loves her head/ears rubbed. She loves to play with my other dog. Loves to run! Doesn’t run off and comes when called. She knows how to sit, shake, and lay down. Has never pottied in the house! Ideal home would be someone who doesn’t keep her kenneled (I haven’t ever put her in it, so I’m not sure how she’ll react), someone who doesn’t mind dogs on the furniture as she loves to sleep next to me and cuddle on the couch, and someone who will be home often to give her lots of attention. Great with other dogs and kids! She is a very calm girl and deserves someone who will give her lots of attention! Summer has had her vetting updated and is heartworm positive. She is taking her premedication and will start heartworm treatment in early January. After reading this pet's info, if you are still interested in adopting, please fill out the online adoption application found at realgooddogrescue.com The ideal home for this Real Good Dog will have a secure fenced yard. A solid history of excellent vet care for current or previous pets is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have specific breed experience and own their own home. Story
Cookie was abandoned by his homeless owner and left on the street. A neighborhood BYB picked him up. He was kept out in a small 4 foot pen and never allowed out. Cookie was heartworm positive. I assisted with his rescue and several other dogs on the property after reporting the person for her illegal operations. Cookie received heartworm treatment and is free from heartworms now. He's neutered and trained to do tricks for treats. Great dog, housebroken, loving and friendly to other dogs. I let him play with all my new Intakes. Great for a older gentleman who is retired and likes to go for walks. Cookie can also hike the trails with young females. He's very versatile.

Story
River is a stunning female German Shepherd who made her way to us from one of our local rural shelter partners. She was found after she and her puppies (along with a male husky) had been dumped into the river and when rescuers found her, she was swimming trying to get all of the puppies back safely on the shore. Her puppies were all already safe with either other rescue groups or with adoptive families when we pulled mama River into the Happy Tails Canine Rescue family! (Her foster mom actually saw her in the background of the photo we saw of Hershey and zoomed in before asking "Can we get more details on that shepherd girl in the background?"). River is about 1-2 years old and is described as her foster mom as being "playful, energetic, and an overall smart, curious, and happy girl". She absolutely ADORES her foster mom's son and runs straight to his bedroom every morning to wake him up. In the week she has been in her foster home since being pulled from the shelter, River has already learned sit and lay down and has begun to work on learning how to shake. What an incredibly smart and well-behaved girl! She has also taken very quickly to potty-training and crate-training as well. River adores snuggling next to her foster family on the couch. She currently lives in a foster home with a senior female dog and gets along well with her. River is a combination of athletic and a cuddle buddy, enjoying getting her zoomies out with a run in the fenced in backyard in the morning and then helping her foster mom work by lying in her dog bed and keeping her company in her home office. Her foster mom reports that she has good recall for a rescue dog and takes corrections from humans and other dogs well. River is set to be spayed on December 28th, is up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She is more than ready to find a forever home of her own for the upcoming holidays! Run to apply now for River if she seems like the perfect forever family member that you have been searching for! Most of her babies have found their forever homes, now it is her turn. Lilibeth is a very sweet girl that enjoys spending time with her family. She is a great medium size dog at 46 pounds. She follows her foster mom around the house frequently just to see what she is doing. Her favorite place to be is on the couch next to anyone getting love. She adores kids, and will follow them were ever they go. Lilibeth is house trained, crate trained and doing great at all her manners. She is fostering with several other dogs of various sizes and personalities. She seems to do best with the ones that are closer to her size and a little calmer and submissive.
