Story
Meet Luka! Luka beautiful 2-year-old Husky / Shepherd mix was rescued from the euthanasia list at MCACC. He's an incredibly sweet, happy, playful boy with a lot of puppy-like tendencies. He was adopted from the shelter and returned multiple times for being a bit too much, but the most recent time he unfortunately was able to grab a neighbor's cat that darted right in front of him on a walk, and the cat did not make it. The adopted returned him and he was e-listed as a result of this incident. This was, of course, a terrible tragedy for all involved. But, given the high prey drive of these breeds, we did not think it should be a death sentence for Luka. He plays great with other dogs and loves all humans - we saw a big puppy boy who needs to be in a home with no cats, and who needs to work on his house manners. A foster thankfully stepped up, and we were able to save Luka's life.  Luka settled in very quickly with his foster and has shown that he has a lot of energy and wants nothing more than to play and run. He is very curious and likes to explore his surroundings and play with all the toys. He absolutely loves people and wants to introduce himself to everyone on walks. He does pull when he sees people and other dogs, but that is not unexpected for the breed and age. Luka has shown that he really just wants to play with other medium to large dogs - we think small dogs would probably be too much for his energy levels. He would love to be around other dogs who don’t mind the energy and excitement that this boy has. Luka has done a great job in a crate and has had no issues with being in one. His adopter should be prepared to get him plenty of exercise and to work with him longterm on manner (he just gets so excited!) and house rules. He wants to please and he looks forward to being your best friend and good boy. The ideal home for Luka would be with a young and active individual or couple, and he would do great with other playful dogs, or even as a single dog if he's not left home alone for too long of hours every day. The biggest factor for Luka is having a family who is willing to work out his energy with lots of runs and walks and give him plenty of attention. He would also make an excellent hiking partner for any avid explorer. We also think he would do great with older children and teenagers. If you are ready to make Luka a part of your pack please fill out an adoption application on our website: https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/

Story
Griswold has come a long way from being a scared dog trembling from fear in the kennel at the local shelter not wanting to take even one step to being an outgoing, exuberant and friendly guy whose tail never goes down anymore. It took two weeks for him to wag his tail for the first time. We don't know what happened in his past; but we know it is behind him and his present and future are bright. He gets along great with other dogs and currently lives with a crazy Huskie-mix and a blind senior Shar Pei (all boys). However, Grizz much prefers human interaction over playing with dogs (even at his once-a-week doggie daycare outing he mainly follows the human attendant around while ignoring the dogs). Grizzy is a loyal companion who will follow you everywhere, but without being needy for affection. He just wants to be where you are. When you are going potty, he will sit next to you, LOL. Grizzy has a wonderful brindle coat and is on daily fish oil to keep it that way. It is easy to bath him, however, Grizzy is a dog that does not smell at all (very unusual). He is of robust health, has great teeth and likes being active. His perfect new home would offer him daily exercise (more than just a walk). He enjoys hikes, he can go jogging with you when it is not too hot and he has ample water, of course. Grizzy is like a huge puppy; a bit of a bull in a China shop (no small kids as he may accidentally run into them or knock them over jumping up). When he runs, his legs seem to be flying in all kinds of directions .. hilarious to watch. He gets super excited for walks, car rides, and feeding time. He is crate, muzzle, and doggie door trained. He has been on a business trip to New Mexico with his human and stayed crated in the hotel room without any problems. When bored and left alone for too long, he has been known to chew a shoe or two. His foster mom thinks of him as the perfect guy's dog that will go everywhere with his human as well as frequent adventures. We have his DNA and his predominant breed is German Shepherd with Australian Cattle Dog, and Husky. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and micro chipped. Griswold's adoption fee is $400. If you would like to meet this handsome boy, please fill out an application at https://luckydogrescue.org/adopt/?id=1f803d82-7791-11ef-8ba5-06c949cedc83

Story
Max is a typical German Shepherd except that he is more playful than most and is more welcoming of strangers. He loves to swim in the pool and play fetch!  He's a big goofy boy just looking for love. Up until this point in his life, he has been under-socialized with other dogs, however, with the proper introduction and training, could potentially live with another dog.  Because he is young, Max still needs a fair amount of mental and physical exercise.  Max's ideal family will be willing to work with him and provide ongoing training so that he can continue to blossom!  If you believe you're a possible match for Max based on the detailed profile posted on our website, please complete our online adoption application.
