Story
Zion is a Shiloh Shepherd, he is 6 yrs old, came in to the rescue because his owner had passed away. Zion is under-socialized with people, other dogs and new environments. We are currently working on his lack of confidence as he is a pretty fearful boy. He doesn't enjoy car rides, as he will hunker down and hide while in the truck. He has had a lot of changes and we are slowly working on his fear issues. Due to his fears he will not be adopted to a home with children or a home who plans to have children, preferably be the only dog, a very low key home environment without a lot of people coming and going. Potential must have experience with Shepherds and must have a 6 foot (or higher) fence.

Story
1.5 yr old Male German Shepherd, He is a super sweet boy who has a medical, genetic brain disorder, Mostly is affecting his memory. It's like every day is the first day in meeting him. It has taken him months before I could pet him. I am gaining trust with him, but that has taken a lot of time and understanding. This condition has made it difficult to get him to relax around new people. He has never shown aggression, he cowers or tries to hide. He has been in rescue a very long time and he is just now ok with me. He will need an owner who understands he needs time, a lot of time to become comfortable. His social behavior is not about you being a good person. He needs someone who is not going to be offended by his lack of trust with humans. Sad that, that needed to be said, but so many people have expectations on how a dog should behave around them because "every dog loves them" He needs a person who will not take it personal when he doesn't immediately seek out love and attention. He will need a number of visit here in Fairbanks before he can go on an overnight. With that said people living outside the Fairbanks area is not possible. Here is a link to see a video of him https://fb.watch/a_Kh5Kl5Sf/ Ideal home is a quiet one, not filled with a lot of people coming and going. He needs someone who does not have high expectations nor does he need someone who has a timeline scheduled for him to overcome his behavior. He needs someone that has the mindset of Here we are and you are welcome to take as much time as you need to trust me. Are you that person? If you are fill out an application to become an approved adopter. All adoption fees are $400 Please review our adoption process before filling out an application. Story
Justice was able to be seen by Dr Snyder with Polar Eyes Veterinary Ophthalmologyduring his recent visit to Fairbanks. After a careful examination Justice’s diagnosis to her left eye is Phthisical globe – secondary to previous full thickness corneal perforation A phthisical globe is the end-stage, shrunken, and disorganized eye resulting from severe trauma, such as a full-thickness corneal perforation. Caused by chronic inflammation, low ocular pressure, and, in this case, severe perforation, which leads to permanent vision loss. I cannot imagine the pain this puppy was put through. Since she was not surrendered when it happened her eye is no longer painful. If she would have landed in a safe place after it happened surgery would have been done immediately. But now we are dealing with an eye which is no longer painful. So to schedule a surgery to remove it serves no purpose. If, however in her future her eye develops chronic conjunctivitis or discharge the removal of her eye needs to be strongly considered. Even with everything she has endured in her life, she is a very happy go-lucky girl. She greets everyone with enthusiasm, she is not shy, her tail is always going. And that’s the same with her brother. Both puppies have fantastic personalities. They kennel wonderfully, use the dog door to go potty and play together nicely. They are not a bonded pair and do not need to be adopted together. I was told they are German Shepherd / Malinois mix. They are both available for adoption. Folks who have an approved application on file can arrange a visit with one. Applications are found on the rescue’s website at agsrescue.com under forms. I want to again Thank Dr Snyder for fitting us in his busy schedule while he was here in Fairbanks, and for taking his time to explain everything in order for me to understand Justice’s medical needs.

Story
This wonderful boy was abandon when his owner moved away. He is eating and drinking well, and is slowly regaining his weight. Hobbes is kennel trained, he is nice and quiet, he is not destructive with this toys. He is such a good boy and would love to find himself in an experienced Malinois home, Once his weight stabilizes I am sure he would love to go on walks and then runs and hikes. An approved application needs to be on file before a visit can be arranged.
