Story
🐾 Duke, 3 | French Bulldog Mix | Looking for Love (and Treats) 🐾 Username: ShyGuyDuke93 Location: Currently crashing at the shelter, but dreaming of a forever home Status: Single and ready to slowly mingle About Me: Hey, I’m Duke. I’m a 3-year-old Frenchie mix with a soft heart and soulful eyes. I may come off a little reserved at first — I’m not the “first to the party” kind of guy, but once I feel safe with you, I’m loyal, loving, and always down to cuddle on the couch. Interests: Quiet evenings Gentle walks Calm canine companions (yes, I’ve lived with other dogs!) Treats (I will politely accept them, thank you) Personal space (at first, then I’ll invade your lap — fair warning) What I’m Looking For: Someone patient, kind, and understanding. Bonus points if you speak fluent “gentle encouragement.” I’m not into loud crowds or drama — give me a peaceful home, a cozy bed, and someone who lets me come out of my shell at my own pace. If you're into slow-burn love stories with a sweet, sensitive leading man, swipe right on Duke. Let’s take things slow… and then maybe I’ll steal your heart. ❤️

Story
Introducing Snow – A Sophisticated Sweetheart with a Heart of Gold ❄️🐾 Prepare to be enchanted by Snow, a 3-year-old French Bulldog mix with a personality as rich as her name is cool. This delightful little lady isn’t just a dog—she’s a lifestyle. Snow is the ultimate velcro dog, devoted to her humans with unwavering affection and a determination to be as close to you as physically (and possibly magically) possible. If she could climb inside your skin just to be near you, she would. With her adorable bat ears and soulful eyes, Snow exudes charm in every waddle. She’s a connoisseur of fine treats and believes that tummy rubs should be a love language. Her ideal day includes snuggling by your side, keeping a close eye on all your activities, and rewarding you with endless love and loyalty. Snow is full of character, and ready to grace your home with her sweet snorts and warm presence. She would thrive in a home where she can be the center of attention—your constant companion, your little shadow, your heart wrapped in fur. If you're ready for a life filled with cuddles, unconditional love, and a little four-legged elegance, Snow is ready to melt into your life.

Story
Journee is a purebred Frenchie. She was taken to the shelter by a breeder due to her “uncontrollable allergies”. She originally wanted the dog euthanized but agreed to surrender her instead. Hail Mary was asked to assist and she became an HMR foster. The shelter had started her on an antibiotic, Apoquel and a shampoo to help clean up her skin. We continued the antibiotics as prescribed and did a total of 2 weeks of Apoquel before switching to Cytopoint injections. She is eating Purina Pro Plan Sensitivity with Salmon and will need to stay on a similar food. We understand there are many thoughts on feeding for allergies and adopters will need to work with their vet or dietitian to help Journee continue on a healthy path. We expect her yearly costs to be near or above $5,000. With monthly shots and special food in addition to ever rising costs of dog ownership we don’t want adopters to be caught off guard. If you are considering adopting Journee you will need to be willing to arrange an appointment with your vet, Journee and her foster to have your vet meet and go over all potential costs going forward with you. She has a very constricted airway in addition to allergies and you will need to be mindful of this if you pick her up to carry or plan to have her sleeping in your bedroom. She gets along with other dogs wonderfully, she enjoys her walks outside and she absolutely loves water. She is NOT housebroken, when she first arrived she would actually chose to walk into an open crate to poop. She is now pretty good about pooping on potty pads or outside but she will pee wherever she happens to be. Given her past and her laidback personality we can not say if she will ever be fully housebroken. We will be leaving applications open on her until June 15th. We place dogs based on best fit and we will be in contact if we need further info from applicants. Adopters should be within a reasonable driving range from Warrenton, VA as a home check and vet meeting will be required for this dog. (reasonable would be Charlottesville to the south, Fredericksburg to the east, Centerville to the North and Harrisonburg to the west). Journee will be at the Warrenton, VA Farmers Market on Saturday June 7th to meet. All other meetings will need to be done with an application approval and appointment. Check Facebook for a time. Her hashtag on Facebook is #hmrjournee and has lots of photos, videos and content about her. Story
Introducing Bubba! Bubba is 12 years old and 32 lbs, but don’t let those numbers fool you. He is full of spunk and energy! Sadly, Bubba found himself at a rural shelter after his owner passed away and is looking for a loving home to ride out his senior years. Bubba loves to go on long walks and sniff every leaf and tree he can. His new year's resolution is to lose some weight to be ready to hit the beach in the summer, so the more walks the better. He walks well on a leash and is house broken. He appears to be a bit hard of hearing, which means you can grind those coffee beans early in the morning without worrying about waking him up. At home, he loves to stare out the window and watch people and animals wander about. He will let you know when he sees something interesting! Bubba loves cuddling on the couch, chewing on bones, playing tug-o-war, and giving everyone kisses. He is super friendly and loves to just be in the same room as you while you do your thing. Interested in learning more about Bubba? Apply at www.novapetsalive.org/adopt. *Bubba is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, was given dewormer and monthly preventatives, and is microchipped.
