Story
**DFW APPLICATIONS ONLY** $600 ADOPTION FEE ** Cash is a long haired Frenchie (aka a "Fluffy"). He was found running at large and brought into the local animal shelter. He was scanned for a microchip but the microchip from the breeder was never registered. No owners ever surfaced to reclaim him, so he was taken into LHS foster care where he is awaiting a forever home to call his own.  Cash has the most amazing temperament and silly personality. He is wonderful with children (sometimes he can get mouthy when playing) and has yet to meet a stranger. He is very gentle and sitting on laps is his favorite thing to do. He walks well on a leash and rides great in the car - mostly napping the whole ride. Loves belly rubs and he will fall asleep snoring when being held like a baby. He knows basic commands, doesn't shed and only barks when something alerts him at the door or fence. Cash loves to play with other dogs, does great with cats and even gets along well with the resident bunny in the foster home. He does not like being in a crate but he resides in the laundry room when he is not supervised and has zero issues. When it's time to play, he will run zoomies around the yard, play fetch and tug of war.  Why is such a wonderful dog in search of a home you ask?! Cash's biggest downfall is that he is not potty trained and will need a home with the time and patience to work with him to make adjustments in your home/schedule to ensure he has adequate supervision and regular potty breaks. This is not a novice feat and might be something that is a life long battle. He is on food for sensitive stomach and skin. He has to have limited food/water access or he will consume too much - which will further trigger his potty training issues.  His ideal home is someone who wants a true companion pet who can go anywhere with them. If you have another pet that loves to play, Cash will fit right in. Wrestling and playing with other doggies is one of his favorite things to do. He would also do just fine as a solo pet too.  Cash has been neutered and received the stenotic nares surgery (this opens the nasal passage to help short snout nose dogs breathe easier). He is heartworm negative and current on vaccinations. Frenchie's over heat extremely easy and need a home that understands their heat sensitivity and limits to physical exertion. Please take the time to research the breed and make sure this is a pet that is more than just adorable, but a life long commitment that you are prepared to adjust accordingly to help him learn to be the best doggie he can be. If you are interested in adopting Cash, please complete the online application today: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/ Age: 1 1/2 years old Weight: 20lbsWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Hiya! I’m Chewbacca and I am a 1 1/2 year old French Bulldog boy. Can you guess why my name is Chewbacca? I am super soft and fluffy! I am just a cool dude and I have a great personality. I love my humans so much, I don’t want them to ever leave my eyesight. I came from a bad situation, so I am still learning how to be a wonderful dog. I like to play with the other doggies, but sometimes I play too hard. I am crate trained and learning to walk on the leash and potty outside. I would love a family that can continue my training. I am a strong boy and like to jump, so I need a family that can handle me. I love playing in the sprinkler, and maybe a pool too! I am super affectionate and cuddly, and I would love a family that can love on me forever! Will that be you? My adoption fee is $825.Thank you for your continued support in our rescue efforts! If you are interested in any of our Boston Terriers or would like to be eligible to adopt a Boston Terrier through our rescue in the future, please fill out an application. Story
Introducing Tigger…..That’s me I am a wonderfully funny boy who is searching for my forever home.  I am good with other Dogs and Cats.  I walk well on a leash and enjoy my evening walks when it is cooler outside during the hot summer temperatures.  I am what they call a water baby and I enjoy the pool in my foster home, BUT I am not a good swimmer so I must wear a Life Jacket otherwise I will sink to the bottom.  Even with a Life Jacket I require “hands on” assistance as I paddle around.  My life prior to coming into rescue was not the best as I was used as a breeding machine only, neglected of medical care and love.  I will need a home that can help continue my potty training as I currently wear a belly band which prevents me from having accidents in the home.  I am crate trained and I do fine while left alone when you are away.  I am cuddly as any Tigger should be and I have found the joy of Toys, but I do not like to share my toys at all.  If you have children I will need a home with High school aged children as I am more comfortable with slow movements as I just can’t trust the small children that run, jump and make loud noises.  I am not a fan of going to see the Vet….my foster Mom is a Veterinarian, Yes you heard me right….. so this was quite a stretch for me….I have learned to love her, but I still am unsure when I see her as a patient.   Are you ready to add a Tigger to your life?  Then don’t delay adopt a Tigger today! Story
Howdy people! My name is Bennie and I am a 7 year, 28 pound Frenchie. My foster mom says I am a little couch potato, and I look like one too! I like to play with my brother Rockie. We are a bonded pair, I love him so much! I am house, crate, and leash trained. I’m pretty low energy, so I would be ok with seniors. I get along just fine with kids and other doggies. I do have some lacerations on my eye so I will need to continue with my eyedrops daily for life. I’m also an itchy guy and I do require daily Prescription Apoquel Tablets as well as medicated baths in shampoo acquired at the Vet  once a month which helps tremendously keep my Allergies in check. But I love my bath time! I am such a good boy that my foster mom says she has no trouble with my grooming needs. I don’t mind adventures in the car and I like walks too. My ideal home would be a family that wants 2 super sweet boys, and loves to cuddle! My adoption fee is $475. BONDED WITH ROCKIE  Thank you for your continued support in our rescue efforts! Story
Meet sweet Puglsey!  Pugsley is around 4 years old.  We named him Pugsley Addams because he came to us around Halloween time.  His favorite pastime is to follow you around the house.  He wants to have you in his line of sight all the time.  He loves to cuddle and will be a wonderful companion dog to anyone.  He enjoys his daily walks and walks well on leash.  He is good with cats.  He would be happier if he is the only dog at home. Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets. APPLY HERE: www.richardsonhumanesociety.org ##1553556##

Story
Dior was extremely neglected by her owner and possibly abused.  Officers went to the owner's home where they found Dior limping and a HUGE swollen front leg.  Her ear was bloody and the owner never took her to the vet.  Her injured leg happened over 3 months ago.  She was only a breeder dog to the owner, and a source of income.  She craves human attention and we don't think she has ever gotten much.  She is super sweet.  We had to amputate her fron right leg but she is getting along just fine.  All she wants is love. ##2263178##
