Story
Manny is an estimated 8-10 year old Frenchton that weighs about 25lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Manny is great dog! If you are looking for a shadow, he is your guy! He loves to snuggle on the couch and relax – he is not a dog bed kind of dog.  His age does not slow him down! He still has a manageable amount of energy and gets around great! Takes little effort for him to jump on the couch or beds! He LOVES to go on walks and be outside. He would best in a house with a yard so he can chase squirrels and birds, although he is probably not quick enough to catch any He does pull slightly on a leash, especially when he sees other dogs or a critter, so paying attention while on walks is a must. We recommend a using a regular leash for him, not a retractable. He loves his harness, and that has helped while on walks to settle him down (he gets so excited seeing other dogs). He's a great eater and loves scrambled eggs on the weekend. He knows basic commands like "sit' and "stay". He is very smart and loves a treat! Due to some previous trauma, he does NOT like being crated or being picked up. But that does not stop him from cuddling with you. He has done well around other dogs for the most part, but it is case by case so recommending a home with no other dogs or young children. Since being in foster care, Manny has done well with house training and can go about 6 hours or so without having an accident. At night, he sleeps under the bed, or on top of the covers on the bed. Occasionally, the boston in him comes out and he wants under the covers :)  Manny loves being with his people, and will sometimes bark or cry for a bit when left alone. He would do best in a home where he can go with you everywhere or you are home often. He loves car rides, but definitely either restrain him or have the windows on child lock. He loves to move and look out the window! Manny would make a great companion for someone who works from home and/or is home often or can take him to work. He loves to curl up at your feet while you work. He is so great and loving and has lots of love to give! If you would like to give Manny his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $250. He is being fostered in Nashville, TN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Story
Duke is a 4 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 25lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. ONLY FEMALE APPLICANTS WITH NO OTHER PETS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR DUKE. SEE BELOW.Duke came into rescue from an abandonment and abusive situation. Because of that, he has triggers, so it is essential we find him the right home where he can thrive. He can become triggered when someone messes with his neck, like to put on a leash or harness. His foster mom has made lots of progress with him, teaching him that leashes/harnesses are associated with positive things like walks and treats, but his adopter will have to understand that it may take lots of patience and understanding to gain Duke's trust. A fenced in yard would be great for Duke, so he doesn't have to be leashed daily. Because Duke is slow to trust, vet visiits are not one of his favorites. Duke seems to favor women over men, so he is looking for a home where he can be the "only man in the house". Because Duke was abandoned and likely didnt have access to food for a prolonged period of time, he can be aggressive when it comes to food. Because of this, Duke needs to be the only pet in the home and in a home without children. Duke is such a handsome boy, and once he warms up to you, he is a such a fun dog with the perfect amount of energy. He can be playful and silly, but also enjoys downtime and long naps. He loves to snuggle under the covers, play with his toys(especially his dinosaur), car rides, and going for walks. He loves to be with people. He is crate trained. Duke continues to make progress everyday, and we want an adopter for him that is willing to commit to him, be mindful and underdstanding of things that trigger him, and give him the good life he deserves!  If you would like to give Duke his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $350. He is being fostered in Memphis, TN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Story
Diesel is a 5 year old English Bulldog that weighs about 68lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Diesel the weasel is an appropriate nickname since he weasels his way right into your heart. He has a Recto-urethral fistula, which is a birth defect that causes him to leak urine into his rectum from his urethra. Right now, the vet says his condition is stable and doesn't require any intervention, though it may lead to some UTIs down the road. He wouldn't be a bulldog if he didn't require some extra maintenance, right? Due to his issue, we use wipes on his booty every time he goes to potty to make sure he is kept clean. He also has another common ailment in bulldogs...a cherry eye, but it doesn't bother him at all. Diesel is looking for his forever home and the love of a patient ,yet firm family. Diesel is still learning to be a good boy. He needs someone who will continue to work on his boundaries and behavior. This is also very common behavior in bulldogs. When excited, he can be like a little bull in a china shop, so Diesel would be best in a home without young children. Diesel does not like to be crated and would be best in a home that respects that. He has proven to not be destructive when left alone. He does have separation anxiety when his humans leave, but he settles down quickly and then mostly sleeps. He does great in doggy daycare and enjoys being able to hang out with his friends. This has really helped him with his anxiety. He is a big fan of toys and w•a•l•k•s and going anywhere you go! His leash manners are still in the works as well, but he is doing great. This rambunctious guy does have a cuddle bug side and enjoys taking naps with his people and belly scratches. Though he doesn't require daily medications for his anxiety, he may need something to help calm him during storms. He isn't a huge fan of the thunder or any loud noises outside, really. Diesel can be a door darter, so a home with a fenced in yard would be safest for him.  If you would like to give Diesel his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $350. He is being fostered in New Albany, IN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.
