Story
Meet Jenny! Jenny is a 4 year old French Bulldog mix who was pulled as part of “Angel Retreat’s ACCT’s of love” program. Jenny originally came into the other shelter as a stray. We don’t know what her story was before arriving there, but we do know that she is an absolute love bug and thinks that she is a lap dog! She loves other dogs and people, and has wonderful house guest manners. She is absolutely hilarious and will bring endless smiles to her forever family! As with all rescue dogs, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. If you are interested in being considered for them please apply on our website at www.angelsretreat.org 💕🐾 If you are interested in learning more or contributing about our “ACCTs Of Love” program please go to the following link: https://www.angelsretreat.org/accts-of-love/ Jenny Quick Facts: -Very social and friendly with other dogs -No cats for Jenny! -She is a 40 pound lap dog!

Story
Meet Otis, the most adorable French bulldog and Miniature Pinscher mixed pup! Otis is 1 year and 8 months old. He is neutered, vaccinated, and ready for a forever home. His special superpower is his ability to always have his lips stuck on his teefs. Otis was surrendered to us because his humans did not have time for him. We were told that he consistently had accidents in the house and that he was alone most of the day. We could tell that he lacked obedience and did not know boundaries upon intake. His humans did love him, but they did not provide him with a routine or any mental and physical stimulation. He is now doing well with a consistent routine and learning to be a well-behaved pup. His foster mom reports that Otis has not had any accidents in the house since he came. He is a medium sized dog, but he thinks that he is a tiny pup and insists on always getting in your lap. Otis is the epitome of a Velcro dog! He is very affectionate and would love to be with you all the time. Personal boundaries do not exist in his vocab. His favorite thing in the whole world must be chest and belly rubs because he can never get enough of it. Otis will sometimes throw tantrums when he is denied attention but can easily be distracted when you throw a toy for him to chase after. Speaking of toys, Otis LOVES chewing on all the toys. Durable chew toys are a must for this boy. He can be very energetic when playing tug or zooming around the house and yard--and because of this, we think the best environment for Otis is a home without young children. And although he will happily cuddle and snooze on the couch, Otis needs daily walks so that he can exercise his body as well as his brain. Otis is used to doing whatever he wants and will try and push his boundaries to see what he can get away with. However, he is a quick learner with high value food rewards. We are making strides with crate training and leash walking. Otis needs a home with a human that he can trust and depend on. His perfect human will understand that he has been neglected and will continue to help him heal by providing him with lots of love, a consistent routine, and be persistent with his obedience training. Story
This beautiful girl came to us when her owner moved to Tennessee and was unable to find a place to live that allowed pets. Both Opal and her owner were heartbroken. Opal is a one and a half year old purebred white and fawn French bulldog. She weighs 22 pounds and she is now spayed, up-to-date on required vaccines, heartworm tested negative and micro chipped. She is a healthy little girl looking for her forever home. She is house trained, and she gets along ok with other dogs, but definitely wants to be the center of attention so she would do well with another laid-back dog or as an only dog. She is great with kids. If you would like to be sweet Opal’s hero, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send our information and application. PLEASE NOTE THAT A LOT OF OUR RESPONSES GO TO JUNK MAIL SO IF YOU DO NOT SEE A RESPONSE FROM US, PLEASE CHECK YOUR JUNK/SPAM FOLDER.

Story
Hi!  my name is Theodore (Theo to my friends!) and I am looking for a forever home.  I was picked up as a stray by animal control and taken to a small shelter where, after I wasn't claimed, I ended up on something bad called "the list".  Let me tell you, I was in pretty rough shape (super skinny, lots of sores all over my body) and I was really surprised when this nice lady who came to the shelter to get a couple of poodle mixes stopped, took one look at me and said, he can come, too!  Boy, was I happy to get out of there and my whole body just wiggled in excitement.  I appear to be a French bulldog mix with a super cute underbite that foster mom says is adorable.  I am around 18mo old so past puppy foolishness but still with lots of energy for whatever adventures you are up for.  After lots of good food, my foster mom says I'm finally now at a more healthy weight around 25lbs and I'm a pretty stocky boy.  I love getting attention, food and treats, not necessarily in that order.  I have gotten along with some dogs and others not so much as my super outgoing personality puts some dogs off; I haven't paid much attention to those things called cats I've met.  After we got my stomach all settled, I've done well in my crate without any accidents; I'm not a big barker; and I haven't torn up any of my bedding.  I've done pretty good on leash as I've learned it gets me out on adventures and I might pull a little at first in my excitement on being out.  I would do best in a home with no small kids under 10.  I get anxious when they are running around me.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter.
