Story
Hi! I'm Greta. I'm a 3-year-old, 27-pound French Bulldog and I will be needing your full attention. All of it. Yes, right now. I am, objectively, the most interesting thing in any room I enter. Hey, I don't make the rules. I just learned to live with my insanely good looks and winning personality. If you happen to be petting another dog when I arrive, that's fine! Really! I forgive you... I'll just need you to stop and redirect all that love to ME. If I happen to booty-bump that other dog out of the picture...well, accidents happen. I love people. All of them. Strangers, neighbors, the person who just walked in behind you. I want to meet everyone because everyone is a potential member of my fan club and I take that duty seriously. I am extremely good at making people feel like they are the most important person in the room, mostly because I need them to feel that way so they will focus on me. #facts I play often and I have a genuinely great time with my pack but my foster home says I'm "picky" about my canine friends. Hmm...I guess, but I'm just trying to let them know who's boss. The sooner they understand that my way is the best way, the sooner we can all be friends! The toy situation is a separate matter entirely. If another dog has something, I clearly need it. Immediately. It's priority management. Sharing is a concept I'm aware of and have chosen not to adopt. Want to know more? Of course, you do! Well, I am a passionate foodie, love a good roadtrip and I adore my neighborhood walks (it gives the people more chances to admire my charms). I am a delight on leash, and I will happily go wherever you go because you should want me there. And also I want to go. My house manners are, naturally, impeccable. In fact, I don't even like people to see me poop. I prefer privacy. Like the little LADY I am. I rarely bark unless things get exciting, I sleep under the covers pressed against my human as tightly as physics allows, and sometimes I snore. You'll love it, it's adorable. Now, the part where we have a real conversation... I'm a Frenchie, which means I come with a breed manual. GI sensitivities, skin sensitivities, a squishy face that overheats faster than a 90s laptop running too many tabs. All of it is well managed, but it requires paying attention. I also had a small mast cell tumor removed when I came into rescue. Grade 1, clean margins, vet was pleased. The most common kind and considered resolved, but you should know. What this means for you: Frenchie experience is highly preferred. You need to know what you're signing up for, have a vet you trust, and be financially prepared for a breed that could put your vet's kids through graduate school...at an ivy league. Not trying to scare you off. Just being real.  Seniors and small children aren't the right fit since I'm basically a wrecking ball and give love nips when I'm excited. For some reason toddlers don't appreciate that. If you are a Frenchie person, you know that the work is real and completely worth it. My future home will need a 5-star vet check and a life that keeps moving. I need a buddy, a social scene, or both. I thrive on engagement and I am not designed for an empty house. If that's you, let's talk! VERY IMPORTANT INFO FROM HER FOSTER HOME: Obviously this bio was written for humor but it's true. While Greta is currently healthy she is highly likely to be a 'medical dog', MANY frenchies are. (Greta even more so due to her coloring). At ages 4+ is when many frenchies start showing signs of IVDD. For Greta, we're looking for an adopter with a vet record that supports experience with medical dogs, not just up to date on annual shots. She's a brachycephalic breed, she overheats VERY easily, even if it's only 70s. Taking her for a walk or to a festival at the wrong time could end very badly. She may benefit from the nares surgery. She IS extremely social, so she needs an adoptive home that accomodates that to be happy. She's a little too interested in cats but has coexisted with dog-savvy cats fine. Other dogs are a mixed bag. As mentioned, she's selective and there can be squabbles - again, attitude is very common with 'bully' breeds despite what social media shows. High value treats, toys and food need to be wisely managed.  Adoption Fee: $950 — includes spay surgery, lumpectomy and biopsy, microchip, vaccinations, and current flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Feel like you are a great match for Greta? Tell us why!
