Story
Hey there! I'm Crazy Pete, and if you're looking for a high-energy, affectionate, and downright goofy companion, then I'm your guy! I might have started my journey as a stray, so my past is a bit of a mystery, but what I do know is that I'm ready to fill your life with joy and adventure. I'm a sweet, active pup who thrives on attention and bonding. If you're into long walks, hiking, or running, then let's make some unforgettable memories together! My friends here at the shelter call me a goofball because of my playful personality-expect lots of laughs and tail-wagging antics! While I'm open to sharing my new home with another dog, I need a bit of training to learn how to be a polite and social buddy. I can be a little pushy and rude, but with some patience, I promise to be the loyal and loving friend you've been searching for. I'd prefer to live in a home without little kids for now since I'm still figuring out my size and might accidentally knock them over. I'm a one-of-a-kind pup looking for a forever home where I can truly belong. If you think you're ready for a fun, energetic, and loving dog like me, come meet me and let's see if we're a match made in heaven! Story
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.wiseanimalrescue.org/adoption-application! WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Depending which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a donation of $850 from each adopter. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying. Name: Rocki Breed: French Bulldog Age: 1 year old Home Recommendation: Rocki needs a home with Frenchie experience, or a dog owner who can keep this cutie in line. He will need someone who is home more often than not to love up on him! He needs structure, continued training, and socialization to make him the best boy we know he can become. Medical: Rocki is currently experiencing some minor urinary incontinence issues and is wearing a belly band. He has been seen by a specialist and began medication to see if the issue will improve/resolve. It is possible that he will experience these issues throughout his lifetime, so it is important that his forever home is willing to accommodate this. He is able to be crated without issue and only seems to have slight accidents while walking/standing. An ideal forever home would be able to keep him on a set schedule as not have long hours away from home. Personality: Rocki is stingy with kisses, but not with his love! There is nothing he loves more than snuggling under blankets or a good squeaky ball. He is very curious and a smart boy. He quickly learned his basic commands; sit, paw, down, stay, and crate. Rocki is very alert, loves chasing anything that move, and sneaking acorns on a walk. He is a great companion and would love following you around the house. Rocki loves to play chase, so ready your vacuum for some fun loving, Frenchie play chasing! He is very independent and enjoys going into his toy basket and selecting whatever he wants to play with and will occupy himself. Kids: 13+ Dogs: Rocki needs a proper introduction to other dogs and to take it slow. He can be easily excited and needs to work on his manners. He enjoys playing, a lot, so being in a home with dogs with an equally matched level of play and energy, is important! Cats: No Crate Trained: Yes! House Trained: Working on it! Leash Manners: Working on it! Walks nicely by your side, and will sit when asked. If Rocki sees children running by, or people on bikes, he can pull in excitement. Why did he come to WISE? Rocki's family was limited in their time and resources to be able to help Rocki with a medical condition he was dealing with, at the time. They made the decision to surrender him to WISE, to help him get the best care possible, and ultimately find the best home for Rocki.

Story
Meet Bjorn, an adorable 1-year-old French Bulldog! I adopted him from a family friend who needed to find him a new home. Unfortunately, my new job comes with a demanding travel schedule, making it difficult for me to give Bjorn the care and attention he deserves. Bjorn is a cuddly companion who loves staying close to his owner. He enjoys resting and soaking up the sun, making him the perfect cozy buddy. If you’re looking for a sweet and loyal friend, Bjorn might be the one for you!

Story
Age: 9 mos (DOB 11/10/23) Weight: 25-30 lbs Location: Wilmington, DE Nicknames: Chummo, Chummy, Chumbley-Wumbley, Little Man Good with other dogs?: Yes. Chumlee is a feisty pup and can get a little rough at times. He goes after ears, tails, etc. but does accept correction from our older dog. He has not met many other dogs yet. We are working on taking him places and socializing him. Good with cats? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with a cat Good with children? yes Activity Preference: other: due to his health concerns we limit walks to being very short. He'll let you know when he's tired. IQ: Average Chumlee's favorite things: Chumlee loves playing with another dog but can be chill on his own as long as his people are there. He loves his raw food and he loves raw marrow bones. His favorite toys are ALL OF THEM, ALL OF THE TOYS PLEASE. He plays tug with the best of them and is stronger than he looks! He needs to be with his people and is a velcro dog through and through. He likes to give kisses and gets very frustrated if you don’t let him kiss you. He will be respectful of redirection though. Chumlee is good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, going for car rides, playing Ideal home: another dog, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, other: raw food, few/no stairs Training Needs: socialization with dogs, leash training, needs obedience training, other: basic manners, He's a puppy Health issues: Chumlee was born with Spina Bifida but it's a very mild case. He does not need diapers or any special care really. He's been checked out by an Orthopedic surgeon and a Neurologist and got two thumbs up. He is potty trained and can hold his urine but cannot "go" on his own. We assist him by expressing his bladder which is VERY easy to do. He holds still for his "squeeze". Unfortunately, he has no control over his poo but this is why he's on raw food. With a consistent raw diet, it's always well-formed and super easy to clean up. He gets around well but walks on his hocks a bit. He loves to run, jump, and play and has gotten stronger from playing with our larger dog. Because he doesn't walk normally, we do have to keep his toenails trimmed because they don't wear down like other dogs' nails. With two people it's an easy job. One holds him and the other trims his nails. Meet Chumlee Chumlee was born with a birth defect and his breeder couldn’t sell him. They took him to a vet for euthanasia. The vet wouldn't do it and reached out to rescue. There is no cure for Spina Bifida and no surgery to be performed but he is living a happy, normal, and fun-filled life now that he's in rescue. He is not a difficult dog at all. He is potty trained and just needs a "squeeze" (express his bladder) about 4-5 times a day. Then we wipe him with a baby wipe to keep him clean and fresh. He eats raw food twice a day with a little pumpkin in it. He doesn't have control over his poo habits but tends to go when he's asleep (and relaxed). As long as he's on his raw diet, it's always well-formed and easy to clean up. You just pick it up with a bag and that's that. He loves to play with other dogs and loves meeting people. He's also a super guard dog. He will bark to protect you from all the noises but isn't bothered by fireworks, thunderstorms, etc. He's very food-motivated and easy to train. He knows "sit" and "come" and is working on "stay". (Since he always wants to be with his people that's a tough one for him.) His ideal home would be with someone who wants a constant companion and will not crate him for long periods of time. He does not like the crate at all. We think he spent the first few months of his life confined to one. He has free run of the house and can be trusted not to demolish things except his own toys. He LOVES toys and playing with other dogs but does ok on his own too. He loves to lay on the floor and chew on a marrow bone or a lamb shank. Because he's short (part French bulldog), he cannot climb stairs very well. He can handle 3-4 steps but really no more than that. He will need a ramp or will need to be carried if your home has many stairs.  To be considered for adoption, you must apply using our free, online application. Our dogs are fostered in our volunteers' homes, not in a central shelter/location. Only approved applicants are put into contact with the foster family to setup a meeting with the foster dog. She is friendly and sassy, bossy and bold and I think she knows that she is adorbs. She is great on walks and perfect on a leash, she greets dogs on walks with pride and personality. She walks with her head up high. We are not sure of her past but can say that she was probably a breeder's dog, as you can see if the photos. Cher is 85% house trained but will occasionally mark in her crate. She is calm and quiet in her crate and is getting better at peeing outside. Sometimes you need to stand outside with her a bit longer than usual.
