Story
Age: 9 mos (DOB 11/10/23) Weight: 25-30 lbs Location: Wilmington, DE Nicknames: Chummo, Chummy, Chumbley-Wumbley, Little Man Good with other dogs?: Yes. Chumlee is a feisty pup and can get a little rough at times. He goes after ears, tails, etc. but does accept correction from our older dog. He has not met many other dogs yet. We are working on taking him places and socializing him. Good with cats? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with a cat Good with children? yes Activity Preference: other: due to his health concerns we limit walks to being very short. He'll let you know when he's tired. IQ: Average Chumlee's favorite things: Chumlee loves playing with another dog but can be chill on his own as long as his people are there. He loves his raw food and he loves raw marrow bones. His favorite toys are ALL OF THEM, ALL OF THE TOYS PLEASE. He plays tug with the best of them and is stronger than he looks! He needs to be with his people and is a velcro dog through and through. He likes to give kisses and gets very frustrated if you don’t let him kiss you. He will be respectful of redirection though. Chumlee is good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, going for car rides, playing Ideal home: another dog, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, other: raw food, few/no stairs Training Needs: socialization with dogs, leash training, needs obedience training, other: basic manners, He's a puppy Health issues: Chumlee was born with Spina Bifida but it's a very mild case. He does not need diapers or any special care really. He's been checked out by an Orthopedic surgeon and a Neurologist and got two thumbs up. He is potty trained and can hold his urine but cannot "go" on his own. We assist him by expressing his bladder which is VERY easy to do. He holds still for his "squeeze". Unfortunately, he has no control over his poo but this is why he's on raw food. With a consistent raw diet, it's always well-formed and super easy to clean up. He gets around well but walks on his hocks a bit. He loves to run, jump, and play and has gotten stronger from playing with our larger dog. Because he doesn't walk normally, we do have to keep his toenails trimmed because they don't wear down like other dogs' nails. With two people it's an easy job. One holds him and the other trims his nails. Meet Chumlee Chumlee was born with a birth defect and his breeder couldn’t sell him. They took him to a vet for euthanasia. The vet wouldn't do it and reached out to rescue. There is no cure for Spina Bifida and no surgery to be performed but he is living a happy, normal, and fun-filled life now that he's in rescue. He is not a difficult dog at all. He is potty trained and just needs a "squeeze" (express his bladder) about 4-5 times a day. Then we wipe him with a baby wipe to keep him clean and fresh. He eats raw food twice a day with a little pumpkin in it. He doesn't have control over his poo habits but tends to go when he's asleep (and relaxed). As long as he's on his raw diet, it's always well-formed and easy to clean up. You just pick it up with a bag and that's that. He loves to play with other dogs and loves meeting people. He's also a super guard dog. He will bark to protect you from all the noises but isn't bothered by fireworks, thunderstorms, etc. He's very food-motivated and easy to train. He knows "sit" and "come" and is working on "stay". (Since he always wants to be with his people that's a tough one for him.) His ideal home would be with someone who wants a constant companion and will not crate him for long periods of time. He does not like the crate at all. We think he spent the first few months of his life confined to one. He has free run of the house and can be trusted not to demolish things except his own toys. He LOVES toys and playing with other dogs but does ok on his own too. He loves to lay on the floor and chew on a marrow bone or a lamb shank. Because he's short (part French bulldog), he cannot climb stairs very well. He can handle 3-4 steps but really no more than that. He will need a ramp or will need to be carried if your home has many stairs.  To be considered for adoption, you must apply using our free, online application. Our dogs are fostered in our volunteers' homes, not in a central shelter/location. Only approved applicants are put into contact with the foster family to setup a meeting with the foster dog. Visit our Adoption Policies web page for more information and a link to our application: http://americanbulldogrescue.org/adoption-policies/.January 6, 2025, 10:43 am

Story
Bucky is a 3-4 year old French Bulldog who is our little sour patch kid. He’s very particular about what he likes and expects to be catered to a bit…what bulldog doesn’t. ? He was surrendered to a high kill shelter with multiple wounds and very skinny. This caused him to be fearful of the staff and earned him a spot on the euthanasia list. Luckily, we found him just in time! He is great with women and will let you do whatever you need to with him but it takes him longer to warm up to men. Because of his caution, he would do best in an adult only household. He does do well with other dogs and lived with cats previously. Bucky is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his vaccinations. You can apply anytime on our website www.lonelypawsadoptions.org! If you would like to send something special to Bucky, you can shop our Amazon Wish List https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/37A4XL8JL2YCY?ref_=wl_share&tag=riatrotter-20 You can also make a monetary donation for him through our website, just make a note it’s for him! https://www.lonelypawsadoptions.org/page5.html If you can’t donate right now, please consider using the Rakuten app this holiday season with our link. Story
Hi!  my name is Theodore (Theo to my friends!) and I am looking for a forever home.  I was picked up as a stray by animal control and taken to a small shelter where, after I wasn't claimed, I ended up on something bad called "the list".  Let me tell you, I was in pretty rough shape (super skinny, lots of sores all over my body) and I was really surprised when this nice lady who came to the shelter to get a couple of poodle mixes stopped, took one look at me and said, he can come, too!  Boy, was I happy to get out of there and my whole body just wiggled in excitement.  I appear to be a French bulldog mix with a super cute underbite that foster mom says is adorable.  I am around 18mo old so past puppy foolishness but still with lots of energy for whatever adventures you are up for.  After lots of good food, my foster mom says I'm finally now at a more healthy weight around 25lbs and I'm a pretty stocky boy.  I love getting attention, food and treats, not necessarily in that order.  I have gotten along with some dogs and others not so much as my super outgoing personality puts some dogs off; I haven't paid much attention to those things called cats I've met.  After we got my stomach all settled, I've done well in my crate without any accidents; I'm not a big barker; and I haven't torn up any of my bedding.  I've done pretty good on leash as I've learned it gets me out on adventures and I might pull a little at first in my excitement on being out.  I would do best in a home with no small kids under 10.  I get anxious when they are running around me.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
Meet Tank! Tank is a larger-than-life, 2 year-old French bulldog (literally – he’s 38 pounds of pure love and fun!) with all the lovable traits you’d expect from a Frenchie: ridiculously handsome, goofy, affectionate, and a total social butterfly. Anyone who meets Tank is smitten on the spot, and he’s equally obsessed with every person he encounters! Tank is still a youngster with puppy energy to spare and a big heart to match. He’s learning the ropes of being a proper gentleman and picking things up quickly! His foster family has him on a routine to keep him on track – during the day, he gets frequent walks and does great. At night, he has his own setup in the kitchen with a crate (door open) and a wee-wee pad for potty needs. When he visits a home with a backyard, he’s already mastered heading to the back door when nature calls. With consistency and positive reinforcement, Tank is sure to thrive in any environment! This strong boy is still learning to harness his energy while on leash— Tank pulls with enthusiasm and gets excited by everything around him, from people to passing dogs and objects. He’s looking for a family with patience to help him with leash training and channel his excitement into good behavior. Tank loves to play, and his style is big, bouncy, and enthusiastic. Because of this, he’d do great with another dog in the home to be his playmate, but can be selective about his puppy friends, so a meet and greet is a must! He’s also a toy aficionado (big chewer alert!) and can demolish a bone in record time. Tank does well with children and is generally very gentle with them, though may occasionally give a little love nibble! If you’re ready to welcome a big-hearted, big-energy, and big-smiles kind of pup, Tank might be your perfect match. Are you ready to make this sweetheart part of your family? Tank is currently being fostered in Montclair, NJ, and his adoption fee is $600. Tank is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
